I had high expectations and maybe that was the problem. Dropped in for lunch on a day out to Liverpool. I've heard about the place from coffee lover friends in Manchester - hence the high expectations. Inside is smart and minimal and the service was prompt. We had a filter and an espresso, plus a feta and beetroot sandwich and a tuna and lime mayo sandwich. The filter was good, though not great. It turned up far too quickly, making me a little suspicious. The sandwiches OK for prepared stuff. It feels like they could put more effort into the coffee, then I could forgive them for the sandwiches.

Great speciality coffee in Liverpool. Really nice atmosphere and great food menu. I had mushrooms on toast with bacon, really tasty and generous portions. The french toast with bacon went down really well. Another member if our party's toast was forgotten about so the coffee was cold by the time she was eating but it was nice when it arrived. They offer Has Bean, Square Mile and Workshop coffees on filter and espresso of which we had both and the filter did top the espresso which wasnt as flavourful. However, really nice coffee menu and lovely chatty staff. Will definetly be back next time we visit Liverpool!

Opened on the spot which used to be inhabited (do businesses inhabit?) by Coffee Union, Bold Street Coffee already has a strong showing of support from local drinkers of the heated-up ground bean beverage. Flavoursome coffee in basic but clean and stylish surroundings, Bold Street Coffee is the perfect place to do a little work, catch up on some reading or even just crane your neck to the window and watch the world roll past. Bold Street has almost as many characters as it does character and this is a safe haven to stare at them as they wend their way up or down the hill. And as long as you're here, why not get a pastry or one of their soon-to-be-infamous chorizo paninis - infinitely preferable to the pre-packed junk you'd be getting at Starbucks.

As a coffee shop, I would give them 5 stars. However because of their food, I am giving them 4 stars. Food wasn't bad, but I am hoping that açai granola and fruit combination could be little cooler and egg toast with pepper could be less spicy. Really like the ambience, great place to chill or even study. Love the artwork as well. Coffee is awesome. Love the quality of coffee they provide. Staff members are all friendly, too. Our overall experience was nice.

I knew I was going to love Bold Street Coffee from the moment I walked through its doors and discovered that it contains a picture of a pole dancing Lionel Richie on its counter. From then on in, they could have served me mud in a fancy cup and I still would have swooned and handed them over my cold hard cash. Thankfully, they didn't serve me mud. Anything but. Indeed, I'd go so far as to say that Bold Street Coffee serves up some of the best coffee in Merseyside. Situated on the site formerly occupied by Coffee Union, this most recent addition to L1's numerous selection of cafés serves up an excellent selection of coffees, all made lovingly by some rather attractive baristas. Plus, they won't charge you the earth for it either. When I went in there on Friday, I managed to get a delicious and wonderfully well made Flat White for less than two quid - AND it was served up with a smile, which is something I haven't found myself saying about some of Bold Street's other coffee emporiums! Bold Street Coffee has also started serving up a selection of rather delicious sounding food. I've yet to try the bacon sandwich that they proudly promote on the blackboard situated outside their front door each morning, but if it's anything as good as the toast and peanut butter I happily devoured, then you're certainly in for a treat. From the looks of things, this has all the elements in place to be a great little café. I'm looking forward to attending some of their tasting sessions, as well as spending some afternoons lazing around on their sofas, soaking up the sunshine, and sipping delicately on some of their excellent looking blends.

Cute specialty coffee shop in the heart of Bold Street. I enjoyed sipping on my latte, topped with lovely milk art, served warmly drinkable immediately upon receipt. I also loved the avocado toast sprinkled with chili flakes; it had a bit of a lemony flavor, a dash of salt, and just the slightest tinge of spice. I'd go back if I were in Liverpool longer.

one of my favourite places, great location and great coffee. can get a bit busy sometimes but in the morning it's quieter and can be a good place to work/read :)

I have been here twice now since my first visit just over a week ago and this place has some of the worst service of any cafe in town. The guys here are not just slow they have got orders wrong and kept me waiting for ages. I was about to let it go because they offerred me a free coffee next time I came in...guess what happened.

At the 'other end' of the street, it felt like a long walk to get there (especially with a growing hunger after a few drinks the night before) but as soon as we found it we knew we'd made the right choice. The location almost feels like a cul-de-sac, with a dog grooming salon next door and plenty of prams being pushed past. This meant it was a more relaxed vibe than elsewhere, and we easily got a table for two in the sunny window. There is a mezzanine level also, but no table service, which is worth considering if you or someone in your party struggles with stairs. The menu is on a blackboard, with changing specials, and plenty of proper coffee and tea on offer. Orders are taken at the small bar and processed in the same spot, meaning service isn't the quickest, but we were in no rush and everything was done with a smile. I went simple with a cheese and ham croissant, served warm, and a cup of tea. Josh's sandwich was much more substantial and it's fair to say I had food envy; mixed beans, peppers and aubergine on fresh wholemeal bread. Needless to say, with this delicious food and sunny window spot, we didn't really want to move! In no rush, we also shared a chocolate chip shortbread as we finished our drinks. A lovely start to our Saturday.

From what we learned, Moose is a small chain around the UK, and known for its hearty North American-inspired menu. Definitely true - the menu had plenty of US classics like benedicts, pancakes, waffles, and hash dishes. I was actually surprised by how many things were available, as the cafe itself wasn't all that big. Small enough even that we couldn't even get a seat inside! No problem at all though, as we were instead able to sit in their outside area which lined a cute cobblestone alley, adjacent to some shops. I've said it before, and I'll say it again for the typical American traveler... in England, do NOT expect service to be what you're used to. You'll certainly wait to be tended too, and the visits from a server are very limited. In no way do I mean this as a complaint, it's actually kind of nice to not feel rushed and practice patience :) All in all, the staff who did take care of us were very sweet! My husband had an americano and I enjoyed my flat white (I swear I've loved every coffee I've ever had during England trips). For food I got the lula puebla, which was a fancy avo toast. The smashed avocado was fresh and well-seasoned, and the toasted sourdough it was smeared across was so thick and delicious. Even more delicious was the chipotle chilli jam that came atop of it. It also had feta, chilli flakes, and two poached eggs. I was definitely a fan! My husband also really liked his eggs benedict that included griddled Serrano ham. I know, I know, travel all this way only to have a US-style breakfast but hey it did the trick! Wouldn't hesitate to pop in another Moose location in the future.

This amount of floor space costs money in the 'up and coming' Bold Street area and so you need to turn over a massive chunk of coffee to achieve that every day and seven days a week. There seem to be two very nice, customer focused guys running it. The coffee is class ... very enjoyable, but no better than other top line 'third wave' places. I prefer it to the two cups I had at nearby Bold Street Coffee. So back to the space: there seems to be five areas. One faces you as you enter, a second to your left occupied by a huge and very cool industrial style table, a third just through and past is smaller and occupies by a small group of people meeting about whatever. Then there's a little through room I didn't venture into. Finally the bar area is large and well equipped. There's some work on presentation needed. Some cakes are at the back so you can't see them and what you don't see you don't buy (but I do anyway - a delicious vanilla cheesecake!) It feels more like a work hub, but doesn't seem to sell itself as that. For example, essential plug sockets are around the wall but away from tables and hence trip hazards. This kind of detail needs addressing. It's the kind of space that Bold St Coffee and Leaf don't seem to fill as well, but both are packed! Throughout, I had friendly service I enjoyed the space. WIFI was fine. It felt more like an evening venue and lacked some intimacy during the mid day time I was there. I'm not sure if they do food, but if they do I didn't notice. They need to as it drives profit more than cakes and drinks. They have the space. They may not have the money. I wish them well. It was the best coffee I had in the city.
