I have been going to Dr Douglas Louie ever sense he took over for Dr Chan, a long tome ago. He has always listened to my complaints & concerns, never rushed me and shown empathy. He is knowledable and smart. If he can't figure it out he has sent me to a specialist. And I am 78, so visits can sometimes be often. I trust his care. His staff is always pleasant. read more

Been taking my mother to Dr. Douglas Louie, and I feel a little guilty. I'd give zero stars if Yelp allowed. He's terrible. His premises are cluttered and dirty. The last visit, the bp cuff went on over her clothes, fell down to her elbow, and he reported the "reading" as "pretty good." He probably would have killed her by now, if she wasn't as healthy as a horse. I only need him to write maintenance prescriptions for her. She's been on the same stuff for years (before she started with him). Don't go to him if you have serious issues. read more

They are not electronic, just warning you. They still use paper charts. And when I asked him about it, he has NO intention on going electronic. There are SO many patient safety reasons to use an EHR but you do your own research. I found the staff to be VERY friendly. Love them ladies, they are missed. I left this practice for several reasons. On my first first he put me on a medication that I would have to take for the rest of my life, plus, it's not something you can just stop one day. Because I had a "slightly high" blood pressure reading, he put me on heart meds immediately... despite how verbal I was about how I've never had a high BP in my life. Maybe check it again or monitor it before throwing me on a drug. And he immediately did an EKG, even though the reading was normal. I strained my back, moving. He pressed my lower back once and put me on drugs. Not really a checkup but I was relieved from pain within 3 days. Hurray! One win! Unfortunately, 3 months later I injured my shoulder. I told him how I was in debilitating pain. I went through 2 weeks of the worst pain before making an appt, hoping it would go away on it's own. He didn't even touch me. No... touch your toes, touch your nose or anything. Dr. Douglas prescribed me something that didn't help at all. I called back after 1 week to report I wasn't better and needed help. He wrote me a referral for physical therapy, without knowing what's wrong with me. Without any kind of testing, I went through MORE pain with PT. I think it exacerbated it. So, it's been since Feb 2019 and I am still in pain! I haven't been back since. But a chiropractor REALLY helped me and I took myself off the heart drugs under another physician's care. Sorry, this isn't a popular opinion of him, that's why I gave him a try... based off the reviews. But who are these patients and what are they being seen for? Wow... was turned down over the phone because I mentioned I had neck and shoulder problems... didn't even ask if I had xrays or anything, which I do! They even asked what insurance I had, I have private insurance, which is great insurance. Just odd that they turn down patients when they told me they are accepting new patients, but mention you have any physical issues, they will stop you dead in your tracks and say find somewhere else! Found him on this site showing great reviews, now that I talked to his front office staff for a very short time, I would say these reviews have to be half fake if not all! This is about the best provider I have had in years, he is very knowledgable and listens well to my concerns and complains. The wait time its never been long, I get there for an appt and wait perhaps 5mins max. He takes his time with the consults, which is great so you dont have to worry about rushing with concerns. The most I have seen his patients are to be older, I havent seen children at the clinic, which I like, because it keeps the clinic quiet and less infectious. Lol The clinic has a little lab area, so you dont have to worry about driving any where else for that, they also have the ekg machine, I think is very handy to have a mini lab area in a clinic. He doesnt use electronic notes yaay, i love that he still writes his notes as you are talking to him and not wory like most doctors now days, to see if the system is working, if notes went to the right place or worry because they cant find previous consult in the electronic system. Scheduled an appointment with Dr. Louie here for my husband and the wait was not long at all. My husband has been having this sinus infection for couple months. He has been to urgent cares a couple times and once at the ER and nothing was done. His first appointment was very comfortable with the Doctor. He did blood work on him and also sent him out to do an X-ray and also prescribed him medicine for the pain. He actually cares and tries to get to the bottom of things. Thanks Doctor Louie! Dr. Louie is a kind, compassionate and knowledgeable physician. My husband and I have been going to him since he bought Dr. Chan's practice (who was the best doctor ever, hard to replace). When our adult children have visited from out of town, they have also seen Dr. Louie with no complaints. He takes his time, listens, but doesn't pull any punches if he thinks lifestyle choices are causing your symptoms. Not in a cruel way, but he's honest. My only caveat is his office staff, who turned over a couple of years ago when Tracy, the office manager retired, is so-so. They are pleasant enough, but the billing clerk is not accurate and you need to watch your claims payment statements (EOBs) carefully to ensure you're billing statement is correct. She's made errors on both sides, in my favor and in the doctor's. It's not fraud, just carelessness. She's always corrected when I brought to her attention, but I doubt everyone is as vigilant as I am about reconciling these statements with information received by my insurance carrier. read more

Dr Louie is a great Doctor with a reasonable practice located close by. Although most of his practice appears to be with geriatric patients, I have had no issues and I have been going for sometime. I don't need a doctor to have an emotional talk with me; I need a prescription or a referral to address my ills and let me be on my way. Dr. Louie has been my primary physician for years for a variety of issues. Everything from removing a tumor/lump/thingy on my neck to ear infections. I think he's just great. I read the other reviews and while it's true he isn't all warm and fuzzy, he is competent and honest. Plus Tracy at the desk is a peach and the lobby has great periodicals. They always make time for me and billing is not painful as they take most insurance. read more

Dr. Louis is, in my opinion, the crème de la crème of physicians. He is kind, wise, and compassionate. We moved here from Spokane and had to find a new family doctor. DANGER.......This gentleman is friendly, concerned, and attentive in the beginning, yes. He recommended a medication program to me that I followed specifically..and it landed me in a hospital emergency room, because I actually Needed the med he was weaning me off of. Since the ER visit and being placed back on that med by hospital staff, I made a followup appointment and kept it. I also kept a list of symptoms etc, as he would prefer, to share with him. In sharing the list, he kept accusing me of being distracted by my phone (anyone have "memo"?). He did not want to see the list. He became agitated in my continuing to read the list, and then walked out of the room, asking me to get another doctor, and went directly to his office assistant, Wendy. I asked her if his behavior was common and she said no..but she did tell me, quietly in a whisper, that he asked me to get another doctor 'because of your nationality', she said. I do have some Very interesting issues that are definitely affecting me, and I don't know rightfully how much time I do have, but his mistake did put me in this condition, and now in the position of having the wrong insurance coverage with no available appropriate doctor to care for my health issues (THANKS OBAMACARE)..so not only do I recommend finding insurance under something other than what our previous president provided for us, I would certainly keep searching and bypass Douglas Louie..I thought racists, and especially racist physicians, were a thing of the past..I guess not. read more

I give him 2 as he is somewhat knowledgeable but his bedside manner leaves a lot to be desired. I was there when he bought the practice from Dr. Chan ( truly one of the best doctors I have ever had. Dr Chan that is, knowledgeable, caring, diligent, competent... and now retired ) Dr Louie was more interested in volume and get you in and out as fast as possible. He has a hard time prescribing pain meds or just about anything even though you really need something. Tracy the receptionist is a doll and she gets 5 stars easy. I no longer see Dr Louie. We parted ways several years ago. I don't need touchy feely, but I do need someone who cares more about me than their paycheck. read more

Doctor Douglas Louie has a excellent practice and is able to perform numerous tests with great results. Contrary to what the person who gave this very personable man one star and badmouthed him, I have found Doctor Louie to have a great patient relating ability. He is fast, thorough and does not do un-necessary things to patients. In my opinion, he is vastly better than the Madigan Army Medical Center that no longer allows retirees to see a doctor but schedules them with PAs or Nurse Practitiioners who do as little as possible for patients. Numerous times, I have mentioned what I believed to be medical problems to him and he promptly either sent me to a specialist or ran targeted tests to determine the cause of what I was experiencing. For instance, I told him of an event that happened in California. I and my family were driving back from Disney Land. We had climbed a high point on I-5 and were descending the slope. When we reached the bottom, it felt as if I were still going down. I told Doctor Louie when I returned. He said, "Let's get a blood test.". When results were available, Doctor Louie called me. I went to his practice and waited less than 5 minutes ( my average wait time at his clinic is usually less that 15 minutes when there are several patients). Doctor Louie read the test results and said, "Everything is just fine except your blood sugar level is very low. You need to eat more often and that will solve the problem." I took his advice and have never had that problem again unless I forget or am so busy tha tI don't stop to munch a cookie or something. So, I will finish with: My postal carrier recommended Doctor Louie to me and I am glad that he did. The office employees are friendly, cooperative and from their actions I determined them to be highly skilled professionals who want the best for their patients. I found Doctor Louie to be honest, concerned for his patients and not afraid to prescribe medication that is necessary. So, it is with complete confidence that I state categorically my opinion that Doctor Louie does care for his patients, he listens and follows the best pathway to better health. He deserves reasonable patients who do not request extreme prescriptions. BTW, every prescription he has written for was always preceded with the question, "Do you have and drug allergies that you are aware of?" read more
