Barely saw this doc... delegated to his PA... when i tried to refused being referred to another doc and procedure... I remember his words, "I strongly recommend this..." proceeded to sign the paper for consent before i had a chance to respond and walked out of the office... That procedure didn't DO ANYTHING... maybe i should have yelled that I didn't want that procedure done... Anyway, I'm glad Robert B. had a good experience... but maybe i just so happen to be one that fell through the cracks... but you would hope that ALL patient's get the same kind of care. Let me say this up front, Dr. Lee is NOT my physician but he is my grandparents and my uncle's…read morephycisian. I am always bringing them in to see Dr. Lee and usually sit in on their appointments to make sure everything goes okay. So I thought I would write them a review from a non-biased, indirect patient, point of view. There is a lot of parking in the Queen's POB 2 (Parking is $1.00 every half an hour after validation). He is located on the 3rd floor, suite 303. Walking into his office there was a small waiting area with magazines to look at. The receptionist greeted us and we had a seat. Usually we're waiting another 15-20 minutes after our appointment time. This, I don't really like considering we're paying for parking and you set an appointment time and that's when I'm expecting to see the doctor. The reason I gave Dr. Lee one star is because of his service and people skills. As a doctor you are always interacting with people (your patients). This is a very important skill to have especially if your patients are depending on you, as a doctor with their health. Like I said, I've sat in multiple appointments with my relatives making sure everything is taken care of and I am somewhat appalled with how he interacts with my relatives. When asking questions he is always sighing in between questions like he's exasperated or irritated or something. I don't know if he's always having a bad day or always stressed but that's not the way to interact with your patients. Very blunt and very unprofessional in my opinion. I really hope he isn't like this with all his patients but this is just what my experiences are with him. Others may have a different opinion. Some of my relatives have a hard time hearing him and it seems like when he has to repeat himself he gets more irritated. If he reads this, I hope he takes this as constructive criticism and doesn't takes it personally. Does Dr. Lee have credentials? Absolutely, and I can't take that away from him. I saw his certificates up on the wall in his office. He graduated from University of Hawaii at Manoa in May of 1979 and has been practicing officially since February of 1981. So he has been practicing for almost 31 years. He must be doing something right, I personally... I'm just not seeing it. Final Comments: I personally don't recommend him because of my above reasoning. Hopefully somebody else has had a better experience than I have. Overall Rating: "POOR" Not the doctor for me. Sorry.

He is very thorough, listens to everything you say, and explains every reason for why he is doing certain things or sending you for labs. He is the nicest and personable doctor out of the all the doctors I have met. As with any thorough good doctor, he never rushes through his patients appointment so with that you might have a wait of 20-30 ish minutes after checking in for your appointment before you see him. Please be understanding with this and plan accordingly. He talks thoroughly with his patients so all their needs are met and you are not his only patient. I would recommend Dr. Lee to all my friends and family!

I was trying to call my general surgeon to set up an appt. Looked it up online and was given this number, 533-4544. When I called this number, it was for Dr. Greig's office. Thinking that my phone may have dialed the wrong number, I redid my search, got the same number and tried it a second time, same thing. The female that answered the phone was rude and irritated. I could tell that she receives these calls often and made me feel as if I was causing her a great inconvenience. She told me that if I was looking for my doctors number on the internet, it was the wrong number. So I asked her if she had a list of physicians numbers on hand and if she could help me obtain my doctors number because I could only look up phone numbers online (I've worked in a doctor's office for many years and normally, fellow doctor's who are in the same field will generally have their colleagues numbers available). This lady would not even take a minute out of her time to help me. You would think that if they receive these calls often, they would be a bit more understanding and prepared by having the other doctors number on hand so that they could easily give it out to those wayward patients, like me, who, beyond our control and in no way our fault, was given the wrong number and had to deal with such unpleasantness as this rude receptionist. Office staff should remember that they are the first ones that patients come into contact with when working in a doctor's office. They represent the physician that they are employed by and many patients feel that along with the doctor providing the highest standard medical care, we also value and expect their staff to be welcoming, pleasant, professional and helpful. Remember, people don't normally see a doctor when they are healthy, especially a surgeon, therefore, treat EVERYONE who calls your office with kindness because you do not know what kind of health battles they are fighting.

The only reason why I'm not giving him a "5-star" recommendation is because of what I consider one of the most vile and rude receptionist I have ever seen. Her attitude, yelling at elderly patients and "talking stink" about patients with her boisterous voice was too much for me and I actually left this doctor who I was seeing since I was Five. He speaks to each person directly, treating them like valuable human beings no matter what their cognition may be. He has great follow up and actually performs a real physical exam which I am finding more and more doctors do not do. He asks great questions to figure out what our concerns are or what the problem might be. He hasn't missed a diagnosis on any of my family members that had medical problems (not just there for routine exams). He actually calls you the next day or so to check out how you are doing and let you know the results of any tests, even if they are normal!!! What doc does that these days? totally disagree with previous review.

This was back when she was still at Straub Hospital. Now once she switched her office from Straub to Kapiolani her office staff is terrible at scheduling follow ups. They do give new prescriptions when necessary usually after the first call,otherwise outside of the hospital I can't say she's a five star dr anymore. Dr okumura herself is still great but office staff is a mess. Also all the pediatric neurologists for kapiolani are at one office so keep that in mind while considering this specific location and group of pediatric neurologists for kapiolani.

I was bleeding internally and would have died. Dr. Izawa and the team at Kaiser hospital performed the emergency surgery to remove my bleeding internal spleen. He was a good follow up Dr that answered all my questions in language and terms I could understand. I know this review is almost a year after the incident, but Dr. Izawa did me right and I thank him profusely for doing so !
