You're going to love this place." She knows me well. Walking into Weird Brothers feels a little like stumbling into the cantina after taking a wrong turn through Mos Eisley. The place is loaded with Star Wars, Doctor Who, Harry Potter, and Nightmare Before Christmas memorabilia. Weird Brothers roasts their own beans and has a bunch of sci-fi-themed blends. The names alone had me reaching for my wallet. I'm the kind of person who will buy a comic because it says "First Appearance" on the bag, so naturally I'm susceptible to coffee with a geeky name. They even have a special blend for the CrossFit gym next door, which I thought was a pretty cool touch. Now, about the food... Come here for the coffee. When we visited, they were completely out of the breakfast sandwiches. The remaining options were quiches, so we grabbed the ham & cheese and spinach. Unfortunately, they weren't freshly made and were simply reheated. They were perfectly edible, but definitely more "side quest" than "main storyline." The Americano, however, was good. That's what brought me back to the primary mission: coffee and geeky stuff. I definitely want to return and pick up a few bags of their beans. At this point, I'm basically looking at the coffee menu the same way I look at a wall of long boxes at a comic shop: "I don't need all of these... but I should probably check every single one just in case there's a key." I didn't taste any cranberry so to me it wasn't worth the $6 or $7. I also ordered their avocado toast but they didn't tell me they ran out of avocados until after I paid. So I ended up swapping to a caprese sandwich (which I'm glad I did) because I had a limited time. I actually think I would enjoy the sandwich more than the toast.
