The wraparound deck at the reception site is overlooking the vineyard and it gives great photo opportunities for your guests while they wait for you to take your own pictures. Between the sunset and the vineyard in the background, it's amazing! I can't tell you how many of my guests changed their profile picture on Facebook to a picture they took at David Girard with the vineyard in the background. The other reason I give this review 5 starts is because Keri, Diana, and Darci are AMAZING! They listened to every request of ours and they more than accommodated everything. From the first meeting, to the weekly phone calls I made with questions, to the day of the wedding they were beyond helpful. I couldn't have asked for a better team to guide us through the stressful process of planning a wedding. We knew we wanted a venue that included most things (ceremony and reception site, day of coordinating, catering, DJ, etc.). David Girard provided all of that! The food was such a hit! We chose the buffet and everyone loved it. The DJ (Steve) was awesome, the girls (Keri, Diana, and Darci) couldn't have been a better fit for us, and like I said before, the venue itself is just breathtaking. I wish I could relive my wedding day once a year; that's how perfect everything was! Note: We got married in October, 2016 and the weather was perfect.

We booked this venue about 1.5 years before our wedding date. They provided timelines and suggestions on what to do to prepare for your wedding. Then reminded you when you had appointments coming up and were flexible if you were running slightly late. They had tons of options to make the wedding personalized for you, from the food to the decorations and even the timeline. I told them that I did not want to be stressed out at my wedding, I had heard horror stories about brides not enjoying their wedding because of this or that. Liz did a fantastic job of wrangling all the wedding party together, organizing the first looks, putting someone in charge to make sure we got some of the food we purchased. I threw last minute add-ons like drone pictures and a remote control car with a 2 yr old in it at her and she handled as the pro she is. We used the recommended flower shop (Camino Flower shop) to provide the flowers. She is such a fun lady to work with. I'm not a person who usually can express exactly what I want, but she read between the lines and created a truely unique bouquet with the blue orchids (did you know there was such a thing?). We also used Cocomont (not included the wedgewood package) to help us with our decoration. This included a elegant rustic wooden panel and huge drapes to go high into the beams. It really added the personal touch we were looking for. Frank's Bakery from Cameron Park was the vendor for our desserts. He made the most delicious lemon bars and cupcakes. Then Grant DJ was our MC, who kept the party going till it was time to turn-off the lights. We were dancing all night long, with no lulls in the music. Overall this is a romantic, elegant, and beautiful venue run by a management who are truely the professionals at what they do. I was able to actually enjoy my wedding and not worry about whether we were on time. This is something you won't hear many brides say, just ask your friends. Sydney, was not our initial coordinator however, upon her being assigned to us she immediately communicated with us and made sure to put us at ease. She was extremely communicative, organized, detail oriented, energetic, and patient. Having never been married we often had questions! She was always more than willing to answer our questions and offer us suggestions. She ensured that our wedding day was exactly what we wanted. We can't in words express the amount of gratitude we have for Sydney because without her, we feel like our wedding would not have been the same amazing experience that it was. We chose the Vineyard package and upgraded to have light blue linens to match our color scheme. We also chose to have an open bar for all of our guests. We loved having these options to customize our day. They also allowed for us to bring in all of our decorations on the day before our wedding which made for a much easier day of the wedding. The getting ready rooms for the bridal party were exactly what we needed. There was plenty of room for the 5 groomsmen and 8 bridesmaids + glam squad of 4 to help us all get ready. MVI provided us with glassware, waters, and a mini fridge that we were able to use for those pre ceremony mimosas. The food, drinks, and dessert were all delicious. Our communication with the included vendors were all fantastic. Ambiance floral for flowers and Devine Bakery for our cake all made sure to bring our visions to life. The fact that we had the entire venue including the hotel for 2 days was unheard of at the time. It allowed my family and close friends to spend 2 days celebrating with us which was unforgettable for all of us. We had a on site get to know the venue with several other potential wedding seekers and let me say we tasted great food and drinks at the event. The owners celebrated with us all and let me say the drinks were flowing to the point that the potential wedding folks were serving our own drinks and it was a fantastic atmosphere which sold us on this venue. I had a wedding party of 80 people and it was flawless, food was excellent and we partied till 4 am in the morning. We had several little one and with the PlayStation, Wee and other games they were all very happy and occupied throughout the evening. The only thing that was upsetting was that there was a group of town folks who didn't like the fact that we were people of color and they came into town flying a confederate flag. I've grown up here and love that the venue included one of the area's most historic homes. So I knew as soon as I became engaged, that I wanted to get married here. The ceremony site is simply gorgeous with its canopy of walnut trees and ivy covered arch; we only added a bit of decor to the start of the aisle as it was perfect as is. Booking a year in advance, didn't think we would have weather issues in late May but we ended up having to deal with a rainstorm. Kurt and Nina were awesome and let us set up tents last minute the Friday before so that they were ready to go on the big day. They even provided a pop-up tent of their own to cover our DJ. Even though we had to limit our decor to the minimal covered areas, our wedding was still the perfect day we had always dreamed of. Brookshire was reasonably priced (especially as it comes with all tables and chairs), spacious with a great layout that easily flows from ceremony to reception, naturally gorgeous (i.e. minimal decor needed and numerous photo ops), and close to town to avoid travel fees, yet still feels private and remote. Kurt and Nina were so sweet and easy to work with, you could tell by their enthusiasm that day that they truly love what they do. Drove by this place and saw they were open. We decided to drop in. To our surprise, it's beautiful!!! Colorful Irises everywhere. There's parking available, cute bathrooms, wedding/reception area, bbq area, a beautiful pond, stairs, a few tables with chairs to have a small picnic and just enjoy the scenery, just gorgeous here. Absolutely gorgeous. I loved it here. The lady who lives here and grows these Irisrs is so sweet. We ended up buying two Irises from her. They are just too beautiful. I will come here again just to get away from the city and enjoy some peace and quiet.

Alice and Halley were so great to work with - my most communicative vendor by far. I had a bunch of random questions throughout the process (as most DIY brides do - haha), and they always got back to me sooo quickly. The hall is a great blank canvas - white walls, neutral colored floor, etc. We are modern-minimalist in style, so we removed the curtains and hung our own. We also took out the stage to create more room. We fit 110 people in there EASILY, we definitely could've fit more. We hung up lights outside in the front and back, and set up lawn games outside. The covered deck is really large, too. The greenery is gorgeous, and there wasn't any road noise whatsoever. The kitchen is a great size too - we stored my wedding cake there overnight and assembled it in the morning. My wedding was beautiful, and Rescue Community Center allowed me to have afford other luxuries. My loved ones were STUNNED to find out how inexpensive the community center was to rent - you can easily make it look like a thousand bucks in there. I loved working with them, and recommend them to anyone looking for a venue.

Judi was our wedding planner. We worked with her for about 6 months. She was very focused and…read moredetermined during our phone meetings and preparation leading up to our special day. We knew going into this will be a tough assignment for not only our vendors but specifically for our planner, Judi. My wife asked multiple times if Judi and her husband will be able to complete the task because there is only two of them running the show. Judi insisted and stated that they'll be able to get the job done. I am not a planner nor is trying to be one, but I think it will be best to have more people on your team to be able to deal with 140 guests, rather than just 2. A walkie talkie or a communication device would've also been helpful. Especially when my wife was looking for Judi. Her husband was her assistant. We saw him help out the caterers. It would've been more helpful if he helped Judi by helping the guest or directing the guest to their appropriate places. Another issue prior to the ceremony was about 3 days prior. Judi miss calculated and informed our venue owner that our family members were going to help clean up/breakdown after the ceremony is over. We did not tell her that our family will help the post party cleaning up. We had to scrounge for a cleanup crew 2 days before the ceremony, which was very stressful. Our wedding is a nontraditional wedding. The wedding will have a small private ceremony consisted of about 30 to 40 family members and close friends. The rest of the guests will arrive at a later time after the ceremony to enjoy the wedding reception. During our wedding reception, we specifically informed Judi that our wedding ceremony will be a small ceremony that consisted of immediate family and close friends. Judi, my wife, and I all agreed that if anybody who shows up uninvited to the ceremony will be escorted out, we also agreed that if for any reason the other guest arrives early, there will be a tape or the gates will be blocked off for anybody who comes in early prior to the reception. Once our small ceremony ended. Some of our family and friends that arrived saw us coming down from the ceremony area. The gates or the pathways were supposed to be blocked off or sectioned off so that way the rest of our guest who were not invited to the small ceremony will not be offended. There were people that were not supposed to be at the small ceremony and they got through. We felt that Judi did not direct the guest appropriately. Judi also did an occular visit at the venue back in April so we expected she was familiar with the venue. My wife even insisted for Judi not to help her with changing her wedding dress, so that way she can focus with the reception. Few things that we also did not want to see you during our ceremony was the lack of communication between emcee, DJ, and the planner. They all seem confused. Few instances Judi was hard to get a hold of. Her cell phone was turned off. My wife had myself run to Judi so that 2 of our invited guest can be seated. They drove all the way from apple valley (8hrs away) They stood there for a bit before I pointed out that they were invited. Their names were on the seating chart. There was not enough space for them to sit down. The seating chart that we agreed on was not the same one on the day of the wedding. We also noticed some a few things that were not supposed to be at the ceremony. Fake flowers that were not supposed to be in a spot where it did not belong. We only borrowed her bathroom signs, favors signs and dessert stands. Flowers were fake flowers that were not instructed to add since we ordered fresh flowers. Also, things were added to the ceremony which were not discussed. We also did not like the finger pointing by Judi and MC. This shows denying responsibilities during the ceremony and reception. Judi looked very stressed during the ceremony and reception. Her mood was obviously different from our previous phone conversations.There were only 15 people watching the video at the cocktail table. The guests were in the 3 tables at the arbor side. My wife and I agree at one of the comments that the bride made on these reviews. We initially did not want to create a review, but we asked Judi if she can talk to us. She sounded avoidant. We also felt like she sounded very sweet and want us to hear what we want to hear. The games were a success. We know this is a small business. The venue has 3 tier sections and its non- traditional. The number of assistance Judi only had was her husband. Judi and her husband was no match for 140 guests. We felt that our day was very disorganized. The games were successful. We don't want to give a bad review. This is not to discredit or insult or disrespect their business. My wife and I just wanted to express our experience with them.
