So I called the vet and they got me in the next day at 9am. The evening before her appointment Susie looked like she was much better so I called and canceled our appointment. Then the next morning we got up and she was back to not eating and being lethargic and even worse. She was having a hard time just walking outside. I called that morning and they got us in that day at 4:30 pm. As the day went on she was getting worse and worse and wouldn't open her eyes unless she absolutely had to. Got to the vet and they found the problem so quickly after doing an ultrasound they found that she had pyometra--an infection/inflammation of the uterus that can cause it to fill with fluid or pus and can become life-threatening if the uterus isn't removed. They scheduled us for surgery the next morning at 8am. We took her in and the staff was so amazing. We picked susie up from the vet after surgery later that day and we could instantly tell that she was feeling much much better. We are so incredibly thankful for First city veterinary hospital! She's recovering amazingly!! She's doing so good that we're having a hard time keeping her down to rest and recover! She's also reactive to other dogs and they made it so easy to get her in. I walked in and checked her in and then they brought us through the side door!

I just have one comment. Or so I thought, with First city vet an Dr. Alex. The receptionists said sorry no appointment for today it's next Monday. I was stressed. I was angry at myself and the receptionist not showing empathy when I said my dog is dying I need someone to help me. I was given lip service that I responded too in anger We need to see someone now.I said repeating my dog is dying.I was then told they'd work me in. I worked for years at Sunnyside veterinarian hospital. If we had a client with a dying animal everyone puts everything else on hold and the dying animal would have been scooped up by a tech and taken back to treatment and a doctor. Receptionist went back to speak to a tech we were put in a room for vitals and info then vet came in. Very nice and calm talking but given what was going on with my heart dog and her not clear on what was going on said if you'd brought her in 24 hours ago we might have been able to stabilize her. Are you kidding me? I'd spent forever Sunday trying to get into emergency with no luck then feeling helpless with a dog in pain and bloody diarrhea I'm told this? They took my girl back in treatment to get blood and she had a stroke. Brought her back to me and of course I said euthanize her. Vet leaves tech comes in for payment and to discuss urns. Really? We've been clients there for many years. My girl died in my arms before vet even returned. I've always been pretty satisfied but this was a horrible experience start to finish. We've always loved Dr. Alex and James Dr. Megan but though grateful to see a vet this was not an experience I want ever to repeat. Sometimes emergencies happen as in this case but there definitely were better ways of handling this from reception to veterinarian. I was horrified at her comment if you'd only brought her in 24 hours ago! I tried with emergency hospitals. That was a cruel thing to say. This dog was my heart dog. Best care her entire life. I left with a very bad taste in my mouth but did apologize for getting upset with receptionist. I didn't owe that to her. She did a bad job as a receptionist. I have been in that job. I have been a tech. We at Sunnyside Veterinary Hospital bent over backwards for our emergencies. Our front staff were on the ball and all of us were incredibly y empathetic. I failed my girl not being able to get her into emergency to stop her suffering and sorry to say this visit failed me and my girl. Thanks for listening. I still love the vets who've been there for my kids. I'm sure this vet truly didn't mean to make me feel more guilty then I already was but that was an uncalled for comment that has stuck with me since yesterday morning when my Lexie died in my arms. I already felt like crap when I got to the office and then BS from a veterinary receptionist from a hospital I've spent a great deal of money at, I have four now three dogs who see the vets at first city. I am grieving the loss, but I just want them to be aware and do better next time.

The groomer claimed to know all about show dogs, six years experience. I'm left wondering six years experience in exactly what. I spoke with the manager who didn't sound very concerned. Never offered a refund or anything useful. I offered to donate my time to come to a team meeting to teach about show dogs, terriers in particular. The manager assured me that wasn't appropriate, team meetings are about growing the business. The groomer did an excellent job in that respect. She up charged me for ruining my dog's coat. In summary, BEWARE.

I was a little bit put off when I first drove up to the establishment as it's....cozy. It is at the end of a small strip (I think there's a dispensary and 1 other small store front, at least back then), and 1 side is just like a big garage door. However, my apprehension stopped there after meeting Trina and her assistant. My little Rylee is not exactly well-adjusted to the world and she's been turned away from multiple groomers in the past for being too difficult. I warned Trina even before I made the appointment that she is fear aggression and a definite bite risk, and reminded her again when I dropped her off. Trina told me not to worry and that she has 30+ (I think?) years of experience and was confident that she would be able to handle her. She took a break from grooming the dog on her table (her assistant kept an eye on her) and turned her attentions to my anxious-ridden mutt. She took her time, letting Rylee sniff around a bit (Rylee keeping 1 eye on Trina at all times, of course) and it didn't take long until Rylee allowed Trina close enough to touch her and feel the condition of her coat. Trina took a few notes about the sort of cut I wanted, reassured me that she'd call if she had any trouble, but that she was sure she wouldn't have to, and off I went to work. I told her to take her time as I wasn't in a rush and I had already made the Saturday appointment at the very last minute, and I figured it would give Ryles the time to calm her nerves. It was just a few hours before she was all done and I have to say it was the best haircut she's ever had, by a long shot. I can't describe exactly what Trina did to make her face look so adorable, but I really hope she knows so she can recreate it when I take Rylee back for another well-overdue groom next week. And even more satisfying was the fact that Rylee was not in the least bit traumatized when I picked her up. I also liked the fact that she didn't have silly little bows in her hair, just a clean, simple bandana around her neck to compliment her fresh new look. I just booked her next groom for next Saturday....I'll update the review if there is anything that deviates from my initial experience and is anything shy of stellar. Oh, and this biz is not closed as Yelp is currently claiming...but I'm sure you figured that out when I mentioned an upcoming appointment. :)

Excellent service | doggy vacation…read more We needed to find a dog sitter because we were leaving for almost a week out of state and couldn't bring our little boy. I found Heartbeat at My Feet on Yelp, which had solid review ratings and immediately contacted Raquel. She has great communication via email and text, and we were able to set up a doggy daycare for 1 day before we boarded him. The meet and greet went smoothly. We saw her house and met the other dogs. Ozzy got along with all of them! After the trial run daycare, we boarded him and came back to an excellent report on his time staying there. He was such a good boy and we can tell he didn't want to leave because he was wanting to go back inside the house where his friends were, hah! We received photos and videos when we were away. Ozzy was definitely enjoying the couch with the other dogs. This whole experience reinforces the reason why we choose this in-home service instead of a kennel. Rates are excellent and your pet will get the proper attention and care it deserves. If you're looking for your pet to be in good hands, choose Raquel!!
