It was a very interesting experience. My friend from Calgary told me that there is a special event for Persian New Year, Nowruz, at this place. So we decided to go. It was my first time. As soon as I stepped in, I was surrounded by warmth and welcoming attitude of the staff and even customers. Behnam, was extremely kind and polite and I know that everyone tried their best to make sure we had a good experience. The food was really good and we could enjoy "Sabzy polo mahi" for our new year! I found the place clean with a very nice and friendly atmosphere. I will definitely go back there and I recommend this place to people who want to experience something new and different.

I have to blame Mark Wiens, a food vlogger who just recently posted about Iranian food series on YouTube. After searching for Persian foods on the internet, we decided to try Lotus Cafe. Yes it's a bit far from where we live but it's a weekend anyway. I enjoyed many different ethnic dishes. Particularly, if there is a lamb dish, I will be picking that menu at anytime over chicken. As we entered the place, we were wowed by the look. It feels a time travelling to Iran with all the decoration inside. A lady greeted us and we chose to sit by the window for pictures' purpose . We picked surely 2 lamb dishes (lamb shanks and lamb stew), Olovie Salad and Marjoram Tea. When Olovie Salad and warm Persian bread came, I was a bit skeptic as I'm not a big fan of potato salad. But this salad is a bit different than the regular one and the warm bread was making it so comfy Lamb shank fell of the bone and the broth was so flavourful and earthy. Gheimeh (lamb stew) was good too. There are plenty books to read if you are able to read in Persian. Other wise game boards would company you to have some delicious teas. Great service and hospitality by the owner, Benham. We'll be back next time. Thank you for the Persian tea tasting!

Love this place. Place is great the decor out of Iran. The owner very gracious. Food made to order and fresh. The teas Beautiful. So many great flavors. Like I mentioned be prepared to wait a bit for your food, but it's worth it. Really enjoy my time there.

It was Thursday evening after going to the pool, starting a 3-day weekend, and I was in the mood…read morefor a hookah pipe and mint tea, so I started looking on Google hookah places in Edmonton and came upon Sultan. Sultan is a very relaxing place!! Middle eastern music is playing, lights are dim, and the air is filled with hookah smoke scent. Sultan offers a good variety of foods, salads, hummus and shawarmas. I took the hummus plate accompanied by warmed up pita bread - it was very delicious!!! I also drank mint tea, which was good and warming. Turkish coffee is also served, along with non-alcoholic drinks (smoothies and soft drinks), alcoholic beverages (beer, whine, shots). Finally, they have of course hookah pipes, with a long list of flavours to choose from. I decided to go with double apple flavour, but they have many other fruit and/or mint flavours. A few extra charcoal pucks are added, so you can take your time to smoke, drink and eat, while listening to music!! I look forward to coming back to try their other foods.

I had a lot of complaints about the food and the service but i could only do so much with the non existent training i was given. On top of it all they never gave me a paycheck. P.S. there is no air conditioning and they make you pay $3 for water. I was not allowed to give people glasses of water... ridiculous

This is a new place that recently opened on Whyte. I only stumbled onto this restaurant when…read moreDorinku was closed. But I am glad I did. The atmosphere is nothing special. It is fast food looking and not many tables. However my stomach was growling so I decided to stick it out. Also, they did not have printed menus which irritated me as well as you needed to go up to order. This also irritated me. Hence why a star lost. Everything else was excellent. Nice, diverse menu with things that I have never seen before (stuffed artichokes). And the owner was incredibly friendly. I chose the House Specialty Artichoke - Tender artichoke stuffed with ground beef, fresh mushrooms, garlic, onion, and tomatoes, cooked in olive oil with house spices. Served with fragrant raisin saffron rice, crisp fattoush, and cool tzatziki. I love artichokes and rarely see them in a menu. The flavours were a symphony. Loved every bit of it. I am also fairly picky with fattoush salads (my absolutely favourite) and thiers was zippy with fresh lemon. Delicious. The rice was delicate while the tzatziki was fresh. The portion was large. My friend went with the Mixed Veggie Platter which was a vegetarian feast! Includes creamy hummus, smoky baba ghanoush, Lebanese moussaka, hearty mujaddara, and savory grape leaves (dolma). Served with warm pita bread. This also looked amazing and something I will need to try next time. (And there will be a next time). We both had food to take home. Totally reccomend it.

Also when we went inside it seemed a bit chaotic! There were five of us, one order was wrong and the another order came at the very end when the other four dishes were already finished! The food was good and delicious! I would like to imagine it was an off day and would like to go back there again! The quality and value of the food was definitely good!

We dropped in on a busy Saturday (12:30pm) for lunch. The inside is huge. Servers are friendly and but no water is served. Menu consists of platters, pita pies, salads, wraps, Mediterranean platters, fatayer and pizza. - Baba ghanouj ($8.00) - came with a platter of fresh, pillowy soft pitas. The baba ghanouj was creamy. Generous portion. - Tabouli ($7.00) - good portion but standard fare. - Zaatar pita pie ($2.00) - my favourite thing we ordered. Always a must when it's on the menu. - Beef shawarma ($8.00) - didn't try but our friends enjoyed it. - Trio platter ($20.00) - beef was the best of the bunch. The garlic sauce was great. Rice was a touch bland. Fattoush was okay. - Lamb mansaf ($20.00) - lamb shank was tender but plain. - Fatayer ($10.00 for 12) - you get to pick 3 flavours. We went with meat (my favourite), akawi (white brined cheese) and kishik (bulgur with milk/yoghurt). Good portions at RoB but very carb heavy.

I love this store and I'm happy they are very close to us! :)…read moreThe store design is fantastic and I love their uniform. It has a very warm and welcoming vibe. We find products here that are usually hard to find somewhere else. The staff have been very friendly and helpful and when you have a question, they won't leave you till you find what you needed even if you ask them store manager. I love their butchery department and bakery the best. They always have fresh and high quality products that you can smell it from the opposite side of the store. Overall I have been always enjoying my shopping experience there and I highly recommend them! :)

There are washrooms quite near; gender specific, many stalls. If you can find somewhere to sit you "claim your chairs" - bring a coat to leave on the chair! - and then go pay and grab food. No waiters. Once you pay you get a stamp and can go get food. Food options included were sourdough pancake, sourdough pancake with blueberries, sourdough French Toast, scrambled eggs, Fruit Cobbler, Sweet n' sour pork, Potato pancakes, Smashed baby potatoes, bacon, sausage, fresh assorted fruit in fruit bowl (all mixed and diced - watermelon, pineapple, strawberries, few blueberries, melons, apple), and freshly carved ham. Also they make omelettes fresh/on-demand. sourdough pancake with blueberries - made fresh on a griddle right behind the counter, no sour taste which I was happy about. sourdough French Toast -no sour taste which I was happy about, really nice bread used. scrambled eggs - a little rubbery for me Fruit Cobbler - some of it was too soggy for me (I don't like that the bread was soggy where it touched/sat in fruit juice). Sweet n' sour pork - nice light flavor, not too tangy. Potato pancakes - a little bland for me Smashed baby potatoes - really well done, loved the crispy bits. bacon - unlimited bacon! but there is a lady who doles it out but she was happy to give by 3 slices 3 different times. Sausage - BEST breakfast sausage I have ever had. Not fatty or greasy. Super nice flavor. Assorted fruit in fruit bowl - Was easy to pick out the fruit you wanted as long as you don't hold up the line. All cut up already into bite-sized pieces. freshly carved ham - really nice, not too salty, not dry. Omelettes fresh/on-demand - my aunt was really happy with hers. Overall 100% would recommend if you don't mind finding your own table, getting your own food, and doing a little waiting in line (there was aways a small line to move though the food). But no one rushes you to hurry and eat or even say there's a 2 hour limit.
