Lighthouse recovery is as good as it gets! Foremost, every member of the staff loves what they do…read moreand they really care about the people they treat. The founder and clinical director Nate Lanthrum has poured his heart and soul into Lighthouse. Essentially, Nate customizes a plan for you, based on your goals and needs. He combines the most successful components of various addiction recovery techniques (including the most current treatment modalities) and has made something original. He's deeply intelligent, humble and he brings a great sense of humor into the recovery process. One of the most intimidating parts of entering a recovery program is the admissions. Marty handles the intake process for new clients and makes the process as easy as humanly possible. Marty's basic philosophy is "we will do everything in our power to work with you and get you the help you need." Lighthouse doesn't turn people away who can't afford the program because they actually care about people. If you have insurance then Marty handles that aspect for you and gets you enrolled. Lighthouse offers medication assisted treatment. Their on staff physician is Dr Steve Holtsford. He is incredibly down to earth, intelligent, and caring. I have not had such a pleasant experience with a doctor in ages. He is really thorough yet expeditious. You never feel hurried during your time with him. He encourages you to be gentle with yourself when you need medication, and he is more than willing to assist you in your goals of tapering off medications. Lighthouse is a world class institution. If you need help, if someone you love needs help, give them a call. Asking Lighthouse for help might be the best thing you ever do for yourself or someone close to you.

How many stars do you give to a business that saved your life? Unfortunately I can only give 5,…read more but the people at Stonybrook deserve much more. When I came to Stonybrook over 3 years ago I was a mess. All the veins in my arms had collapsed. All of my thoughts, time, money, and effort went towards getting high. I had been a junkie since 16 years old, on and off (mostly on), for 20 years. I did multiple jabs a day. I didn't think their was anybody or anything that could help me, nor was I even sure that I wanted help because I was so in love with the feeling of being "high". Stonybrook, or more specifically Cookie (the owner) and her staff helped me do what I thought couldn't be done...not only "kick the habit" but more importantly lose the craving for the opiate high. I have been clean and opiate free for 3 years now, I have a good job, good friends, respect from my family...and for the first time in forever I'm happy with my life. It's not perfect, I've got crap to deal with like the next guy, but I don't have to carry a 300 pound gorilla on my shoulders anymore. That's too much weight for any one person to handle alone. Luckily I didn't have to. The methadone took away the craving once I realized I couldn't feel the high anymore. Taking away that constant craving that pulls you towards opiates was the key for me. Once I could deal with being off opiates physically, I was able to deal with the mental aspects and also the rest of my life. Their are other methadone clinics in Chicago & Downers Grove but they are terrible. I know that I was a junkie, but the places don't let you forget it...ever. The ladies that work their treat you like dirt which gives you a bunch of negativity you just don't need when you are trying to kick and do the right thing. I expected the same thing at Stonybrook because most Methadone clinics are like that, so I was floored when they talked to me with respect and understanding. It sounds cheezy but they treat you like family which was huge for me. So I'm writing this review as a small way to say thank you to the people at Stonybrook for being good, honest, caring people in a world where a long time junkie like me thought that people like that didn't exist anymore.

The staff is all very caring and the counselors are great. Change counselors if you need to…read more I've heard horror stories of SOO many MAT clinics, but everyone consistently says this is the best by far. Follow the rules, be honest, and you can actual be free from the control of drugs and Alcohol. Keep in mind the negative ratings are often those going through withdrawal bc they didn't follow a rule. Compare the amount of reviews and score with other clinics and you'll see this is the gold standard. - A Current Patient who relapsed after many years sober but is now sober again on the right track all thanks to Stonybrook Center in Wheaton.

Where to begin..... I was in a major car accident in 1997 ( age 19). From there, lot of surgeries…read morefollowed by loads of Dr apts. Pain was a real factor after the accident which led me to see a pain specialist. Having said, I was on major opioids for last 28 years up until 2 months when Cristina Gonzalez at From Pain to Wellness kicked me out of the practice for one of the meds I was on not showing in my urine. Just like that, after 28 years of opioids, 13 years of being seeing by the same pain management clinic.. that was it! Kicked to the curb with no help, no suggestion on where to go , what to do... Frankly, my first thoughts were very dark - wasnt sure if life was worth living. Was worried about withdrawals.. more importantly how in the HELL does a Dr prescribe 300mg of oxy a day and then say " adios.... Hope you figure it out.... ". Well Cristina, the joke is on you b/c Ive never been better. All thanks to Dr Oyasu of ModernMed. For those out there who are looking for support.. maybe youve experienced a similar situation with a rigid personality nurse practitioner. Whatever it is, please know that it's gonna be ok! In Fact, your life is gonna get better..... Dr Oyasu of ModernMed is a Demi god! His regular job is that of an emergency room physician yet he decided to open ModernMed to support people like me, who got caught up in an opioid cycle. All this b/c his heart was breaking for all the types of people coming into his ER for opioid treatment / withdrawal . my first apt was to discuss my plan in how I was going to get off 300 mg / day of OXY basically cold turkey without ruining my life, my marriage, my job. Dr sat down with me to come up with a plan. He prescribed a handful of medications in which I was super scared yet OMG I had ZERO withdrawals.... I maybe felt a little crummy for a few hours, maybe a day and that was it..... withdrawals over! Folks... you DONT have to spend 100k on some fancy rehab. You just need a really good Dr! Here we are.... Almost two months later... weve had to tweak a few of the meds yet I'm on my way to being fully done w/ opioids and the best part is that I've never felt better - i feel strong, alert, happy, my brain is working in ways it hasnt in decades... I can't explain it but it's exciting . I feel like my brain is coming to life! I hope this helps someone out there! Whoever u are... whoever needs help... Dr Oyasu is waiting for u with open arms to help you see the light. Opioids suck! It's a never ending ticket to nowhere. At Pain to Wellness I spent $500 a month with insurance just to come in to do regular refill apt. Just think , that's $6000 back in my pocket! Maybe I'll spend that money on a trip to Africa, maybe Europe.. Best part is that I won't be jaded on opioids... I'm free!!!!!

Regardless of who you meet with, and I've met with most of them, you'll be treated with the kindness, dignity and respect you deserve! Be honest with yourself, be honest with them, and start getting the help you need, immediately.
