The photo shows a pint of fried clams with a pint of French fries. $35 The two young people behind the counter were funny and helpful! Being a world class aficionado of fried clams, these were absolutely above average and delicious for this little road side stand. Hot, fried in crumbs and served with an on-point tartar sauce, the clams were clean and sweet with a great crunch. The fries were warm and soft in the center and crunchy outside - perfect. This spot reminds me of fried seafood at Old Orchard Beach growing up. These mouth watering onion rings are much like Tobie's, now long closed in Saco. Tried the fisherman's platter for the first time . There was a drastic price change since August 2023, per the menu I had . Large meal . Everything was great but the shrimp should have a different coating . Everything is coated the same so it all tastes the same . Worth $40 ? IDK . You definitely won't be hungry after !! What a cool local place. So organized. So friendly. Placed our order and everything was right. Plenty of silverware and napkins but I wish they gave me some salt. Desperately needed it on everything. We were in town for a wedding and wanted to enjoy some of Maine's famous seafood. We ordered the lobster rolls, clam chowder and shrimp box with fries - all of which were delicious, but heavy. I stopped here for lunch one day. It was recommended to me by a friend for "amazing fried oysters and fries" I was in the mood to be unhealthy so I stopped by. This place has HUGE portion sizes, good French fries. Friendly staff, fast service. I normally eat pretty healthy and unfortunately after eating about 1/2 of the meal I got very sick (abdominal pain, vomited once). I think it was because my body was not used to the grease because my friend who got the same thing did not get sick at all. So beware if you are not used to fried foods! The first time it happened I said i would give it another try and then it happened again . The last time the food was not cooked and there is nothing worse than raw seafood . I got the haddock fish & chips plate! The first bite of the fish just melted in my mouth. Oh my goodness! I also ordered the green rings (which are slices of green bell peppers fried in a batter. They were delicious but it was all just too much food! The fried bell peppers had a little bit too much batter for me...but they were 100% yummy. Went here with my son and our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. We ordered the Seafood Platter with a small side of Fried Claims to split. While I am proud to say we finished all the seafood, the fries (which were good) were barely touched. The batter is very light which is appreciated given the richness of this meal. The Clams and Sea Scallops were excellent...truly the best of the meal. The shrimp were plentiful and good but not on par to the rest. The fish was very light and we both enjoyed it. When I started out traveling for my job I tried to hit all of the diners drive-ins and dives restaurants. I was disappointed with most of them. I'm pretty positive this place has not been on that show however it would be the first location, that if it were on the show, I would've been exceptionally pleased with. It is very clean, the people who work there are very courteous friendly and helpful, and the food was great. I will eat here again when I'm in the area... The building doesn't look like much when you pull up, but the food is definitely good!! The seafood was fresh, the coating on my fried shrimp light. You can tell they must change the fry oil often because the fried food was light, didn't smell fishy. The fries didn't taste like seafood. The clam chowder was made with real cream and super tasty!! Wow! This place is amazing! I have eaten here many times and it is very consistent. The baked scallop dinners are tender and delicious. The clam boxes are generous, but slightly over breaded. The blackened haddock (difficult to do) sandwich was unforgettable! The only thing better than the blackened Haddock was the bread and crisp topping's! Very small area for service to have counter help with no masks or plexiglass between counter and customers, no protocol for controlling number of people in area at any time and if you go outside to wait loud speaker so poor you can't hear it. On the highway up to the mountains, it just calls for hungry travelers. A wood-paneled fish, tiny roadside fish shop - really, how can you turn away? Lobster rolls are always disappointing. This is not Lost Gull's fault - there is a demand for them. But they are tiny and expensive and still leave you hungry. Every time, I knew I should have ordered something else.
