I was in town for a Sunday show at the Mesa Arts Center. All the time zone difference and stuff, my body said I need coffee! The lost Dutchman is right by the theater, and a 5-minute walk from the hotel. Easy peasy. Glad I went in. The place is homey and rustic, just like my house! Lots of wood and earthy stuff. Checkerboard, books, nice ambiance. I don't know doodly squat about all those flavors of coffees. The very friendly and vivacious young lady at the counter explained them. I'm a simple guy so it was just Colombian for me. And a chocolate covered cookie dough. Oh my God those things are heaven! Chilled just right, chewey, satisfying, sinful. The service for this place is really good. There is plenty of tables to sit at and setup to read or type on a computer. The atmosphere feels quiet and slow. The coffee is not bad. I usually get something iced (mocha) or a hot mocha. Both of which are really good. read more

Lost Dutchman Coffee House sits at a key location across Mesa's City Hall. There's a few parking spaces up front too. It's always nice when a cafe has their own parking. The barista is friendly and patient while I figured out what I wanted to have. I couldn't resist not getting an affogato. I must say that I am disappointed it came in a plastic cup, but that's okay. It was enjoyed and that's all that matters. The whole vibe is relaxing with a couple booths and couches as well as high table seating. It is nice to sit and admire the structure of city hall too. This cafe sports its very own parking lot - a gold mine in the heart of downtown Mesa - and a variety of different seating options perfect for solo goers and groups. The business varies throughout the day, but you can get lucky and get a seat at one of the booths, the comfy couches, or the long taller tables. The baristas here are so nice and do their best to provide quick service even when it gets busy. I really like their iced 24 Karat Gold Rush - just wish it came in more than one size! They have sweet treats and lunch options too - the lemon loaf is good but comes prepackaged - I forgot to ask if they could warm it up. Great place to grab caffeine and relax or work. read more

Wow! I had no idea such great tea/coffee existed in this part of Mesa! Part of my own ignorance, but I am so grateful for a tool like Yelp! to connect users with new parts of town. I live in Mesa/Gilbert - but we live just far enough away we never think about coming to downtown Mesa for food and drinks, and man are we missing out!!! I've officially become a repeat fan of Lost Dutchman Coffee. My first visit, I tried the Gold Rush Latte made with breve and WOWZERS such a delicious, indulgent treat. It felt a little fancy but still totally approachable. Naturally, I had to come back. Round two did not disappoint either, I went with the Iced Cookie Butter Latte and it was just as good in a totally different way. Their espresso beans are seriously solid: smooth, not too acidic, and easy to drink whether you're going hot or iced. The vibe here is a big part of why I keep coming back. It's always chill, with good alternative music playing and plenty of seating options depending on your mood, whether you want to hang out or just relax with your drink. Also, don't skip the peanut butter bites! For $1.50, it might be one of the best little treats you can grab. Honestly a steal. The baristas are consistently just as sweet as their drinks and easygoing, which makes the whole experience even better. Prices feel fair, especially for the quality you're getting. Only small downside is parking can get a little tight if the lot fills up, but I've always managed to snag a spot with a bit of luck. Overall, I just love the vibe here. They have a nice selection of coffees and some pastries and ice cream. think they have a couple of breakfast sandwiches, but it seems like one is always sold out. The girls here are really nice and they do their best to get your order exactly as you want. Prices are good. I stopped by Lost Dutchman Coffee House in downtown Mesa on a Monday morning around 7:45 AM--definitely one of their busier times. The line moved a bit slowly, and I ended up waiting about 15 minutes for my order. I got an iced cookies and cream latte with oat milk and a ham & cheese croissant melt. The coffee started off tasting great, but within 7-10 minutes it got pretty watered down, which was a bit disappointing--possibly due to too much ice or just sitting too long before I could really enjoy it. That said, the croissant melt was fantastic--flaky, warm, and super flavorful. The interior had a cozy, inviting vibe, with a few work-friendly areas and a local bulletin board with events and happenings around downtown Mesa. I've lived nearby for a while and have always wanted to check them out, so when I had a training across the street, it was the perfect chance. I might give them another try during a slower hour to sit in and take in the full experience without the morning rush. read more

Working solo, she was running around making hot chocolates, americanos, lattes, heating croissants up, serving the must delicious almond poppy seed loaf...Ive never seen such a great happy barista multi tasker. She steamed oak milk for my very flavorful Americano too. This review is really all about Catarina. Owners, she deserves a raise. Stopped in since I was in the area and saw their menu had lots of options - coffee, smoothies, ice cream, pastries and more. I ordered a mango tropics smoothie and unfortunately it was terrible. It had a weird dirt aftertaste and I threw the whole thing away. Normally I wouldn't get a smoothie at a coffee shop but since the lost Dutchman had such an extensive menu I figured the smoothie would at least be edible. The service was efficient but the shop is a bit dark and dirty and I don't think I'll be back to try anything else on the menu read more

Got a chance to go in and enjoy the coffee. I enjoyed the coffee, the barista was able to match my sweet tooth. It was so quick and delicious. I loved the vibe of the shop, loved the fact they list the coffee brew of the day. This coffee shop had some really comfy seats, community boards listed everywhere, and the different sweets offered. From baked goods, gelato floats, to gelato. I got the cranberry orange loaf, and it was so flavorful and soft to share. I did not like one of baristas attitude towards me and didn't appreciate having my loaf being tossed at me. I didn't like the almost getting electrocuted for trying to plug my computer in. Coffee is pretty ok , Nothing special. But I did get a "breakfast muffin". Upon getting to hospital room where I was taking a family member breakfast we opened to find it was only muffin, meat patty and cheese. I returned back to the Lost Dutchman thinking they forgot the egg but was told that's it--no egg. So don't call it a breakfast muffin. Just call it meat and cheese muffin. Thankfully my Yelp bestie Chelsey H. and I could snag the last table for a moment, then took our drinks to go. One of the things that I like to do when moving to a new area of town is to look for local coffee shops near home. I moved to Mesa not too long ago and came across Lost Dutchman Coffee House in my search. Downtown Mesa is a hidden gem with the Art Centers, restaurants and shops up and down Main Street. Lost Dutchman Coffee House is also on Main Street near a light rail stop in downtown Mesa. It is very well situated for the surrounding businesses in the area. Lost Dutchman Coffee Roasters sources and roasts their own beans. I like a coffee shop that offers a quality cup of coffee. The shop itself has a mix of tables, couches and high tops. I have camped out here a few times with a laptop and have enjoyed my time here and my coffee drinks. The menu at Lost Dutchman has all your typical coffee drinks along with some of their own creations. They also have smoothies and teas. Food and snacks include pastries and gelato. The gelato comes from a local company called Lombardo's. A coffee house with both espresso and gelato means that they can make affogatos. They offer that here at Lost Dutchman and can also make shakes and floats. The only bummer for me is that there are not late hours here for night owls like me. Lost Dutchman Coffee House closes up before the sun goes down. Lost Dutchman Coffee House has been a great find and definitely a place I would hang out again. read more

The girls who worked April 4 in the morning had the nastiest attitude. One of them had a nose ring... both of them gave terrible service. The girl with nose ring gave my boyfriend attitude when he was asking about a drink. That's all!!! Just wanted to order a drink he got before. Sadly he felt uncomfortable, so he didn't order it. This is genuinely my favorite cafe I have ever gone to, sounds super dramatic but honestly cannot find another place like it. Some of the best drinks quality wise especially for the pricing. Their pumpkin chai and chai lattes in general actually changed my life when I tried them last October, and it is the best I can find. The rest of their drinks are the same level and the same with their food and snacks, specifically the cookie dough bites and chocolate peanut butter squares. All of the baristas are always so nice and kind and are so nice to have a conversation with whenever I go in. They're also very quick. The ambience is also so nice, it's so relaxing and it's a really good place to sit down and get school or work done, or just hang out. Been in Mesa my entire life and definitely one of the highlights, I tell people about here when I meet people traveling or go out of state, such an incredible spot. read more

Love Lost Dutchman Coffee! A great selection, good coffee, and friendly service. Plenty of seating if you'd like to catch up with friends or study. My go to is a vanilla americano with cream but I've been dying to try one of their floats too as they have some assorted ice creams in house that look divine! I will say they're not the fastest at times though so don't go when you're in a hurry. I don't expect the go go go pace of a big coffee chain but the last time I came, there was only 2 people to order in front of me and most everyone seated already had drinks yet order after order just kept coming up and it took about 15 min for my iced americano. Stopped in with my Yelp bestie, Diele K. We were in the area so arriving early, decided we had time for a drink. The coffee shop is located in downtown Mesa. There is conveniently a private parking lot for the business that is shared with a restaurant that is next door. Being in downtown, this was a nice bonus! Upon entering, the coffee shop has a very relaxed and inviting feel. Definitely can see this as a cool place to meet up with friends or work on an assignment. The staff member who helped us was friendly and helped with my questions. Our drinks were quickly made and ready for us to enjoy. They offer various bakery, breakfast, and drinks options. Some of the offerings are a little different than the normal coffee shop options which I appreciated! I ordered a 20 oz Thai iced tea ($4.30) after determining it was made in house. It was beer enjoyable but not the best I've had. By saying that I am not saying it was enjoyable, I have just had a lot of Thai iced teas, haha! You won't find better coffee in downtown Mesa than this place. They offer a great variety of flavors and sauces to add a little extra flair to your drink--my favorite is the blueberry! The shop has very old-school vibes, and the atmosphere is perfect whether you're stopping in briefly or sitting down to relax. They do not overly flavor the drinks with sugar and the coffee really comes through in all their drinks I've tried. The coffee shop is conveniently located right off of Main Street close to the library and other local shops and spots. The shop itself is casual and quiet which I love for reading or studying because of the booths, couches and table options. The girls are always so sweet and along the drinks very quickly. Lost Dutchman is a favorite of my husbands, so we frequent there for a weekend visits or when we are strolling through DT Mesa. Usually it's the same thing, ice coffee or a chai. They have a couple different chai flavors, which I appreciate because some are sweeter vs spicer and I enjoy getting an option! Or, when I'm feeling spicy and espresso affogato with their gelato! This is where the lost star comes in to play. The gelato has been awesome or it has been icey and flavorless. Hopefully it was a one off and I'll still continue to visit and give it another shot when the occasion arises. Overall it's nice to be able to bring the whole fam and find something for everyone. They have an extensive menu, friendly service and a laid back atmosphere with plenty of room to do some work or catch up with friends. Was downtown Mesa to meet a friend who went to the farmers market across the street. I stopped in to grab a coffee. The staff was attentive and helpful. My order was ready pretty quick. Taste great and as expected. We were there for a bit. My friend ordered as well, her coffee was again, as ordered. She said it was good. She also tried a cookie ball (I think it's called) she said it was sweet and yummy lol. The place had a constant line of customers coming in and out. Staff was busy. They had mentioned that they were short staffed but I hadn't noticed anyone with any problems. It's a cute coffee shop. Working just a few minutes walk away, Lost Dutchman is my preferred coffee spot in Downtown Mesa. I come every Wednesday for the half off iced Gold Rush (a double shot of espresso w/ half-and-half and a hint or vanilla) which comes out to $1.84 (including tax). YES, $1.84!! I haven't tried too many other things but the caramel crunch latte and new Valentine's flavors sound intriguing! I have ordered a 16oz cold pressed coffee with almond or oat milk and syrup and it came out to about $5 which is standard. Admittedly service is not always efficient or speedy. Lately it appears there are new baristas and 1 barista training them both. There have been 1-2 times my Gold Rush wasn't made and I had to ask and no apologies were offered. Since moving in the area I have become a fast favorite of Lost Dutchman Coffee, such a cute lil coffee with plenty of seating. I love that they have cute lil specialty drinks and daily specials, some great looking treats in the display for your sweet tooth and even ice cream if that's your thing. I have tried many coffee creations at Lost Dutchman and right now my favorite is a cherry latte, didn't know how I would like cherry with my coffee but this just works out great! You can also get a loyalty card stamped each time and before you know you worked your way to a free coffee! If in the area go give them a try! read more

Every visit, I end up standing there while the staff chat among themselves, only to act annoyed when they finally stop to take my order. Even if it's busy, a simple acknowledgment like "I'll be right with you" would go a long way. When my order was ready, it was just placed on the counter without anyone letting me know--it sat there for another 10 minutes while I waited, thinking it was still being prepared.
