I've been looking for small locally owned restaurants lately, well actually I always am but especially now. Drove a few blocks over to this place give it a shot after seeing an advertisement of theirs on Facebook, this is a little spot in Northside and it's been there for very long time I'm surprised I hadn't been here before make. The lady there was very nice, I ordered 3 tacos al pastor and and unfortunately I didn't care for them at all, the meat was strange and the flavor wasn't like any other tacos al pastor I've ever had. This place is legit! Mexican food is delicious, reminded me of my mother's home cooking! Very tasty, and you can just tell everything is freshly made. As soon as you walk in, you get a feel for Mexico! It's nicely decorated, with vibrant colors and decorations hanging from the ceiling. The lady welcomed us in, and she immediately came over with the menu and asked what we would like to drink. She was so nice and friendly! I think she may be be the owner. She checked on us two times after we received our food to make sure we were okay and asked if we needed anything else. I ordered 6 tacos tapatios & the carne asada which came with rice & beans and your choice of tortillas. It was very very delicious & their portions and generous. Our total was 18.50!! The place was cute, colorful, and lively. However, the food for the price that we paid was not worth it at all. Everything is so incredibly overpriced. We were two and paid over 50$ for our bill. I really feel like the waitress added on her own tip. Or accidentally charged us for an extra plate because we added prices at the end and it did not add up. Please be mindful of that when coming here. We still left a tip and all and the food was not horrible just not worth the amount we paid. read more

Cute little restaurant, nicely decorated inside with so many colors:). I came for the posole and thought it was okay. Maybe it was too spicy for me... Don't get me wrong, I like spices and lots of flavor but I think it was a bit too much. It was also expensive, $9 a bowl. We also tried the fajita burrito, which came with rice, beans, avocado, and some lettuce for $10. It was really good, however the portion is less than most places I've been to. Food was not all that good. I had to ask for chip and salsa in which they charged me for. At the end of my meal I requested my ticket...they would not give to me. I had to get at the register. This was my first time here and I had heard this was a great place to eat. We ordered the barbacoa which was very good and well seasoned. There wasn't too much fat either. Their homemade corn tortillas are excellent. Their menudo was hard to tell how good it was because it had way too much salt. As much menudo as they make, it should be perfected by now. Someone needs to taste it before they put it out. Their champurrado was really good. I hadn't had any in many years and was glad they served it. Best huevos con napolitas burrito ever. The tortillas were warm and inviting, and the salsa verde gave it the perfect punch. I also had the caldo de pollo, and wow. The broth was incredible, obviously something that was simmering for the better part of a day. I will definitely come back as it gets colder outside. My family has been coming to this restaurant for almost 30 years and we rarely - if ever - order something other than caldo (soup.) My husband loves the caldo de res (beef) but I prefer the pollo (chicken.) Both are full of vegetables with rice on the side. Nothing mushy here because the vegetable are cooked whole. My husband loves to tear the meat off the huge shank bone to make tacos separately. But the star here is the broth! I love soup and order it whenever possible, but nothing I have had anywhere compares to this broth! Be sure to squeeze the lime to make it really shine! We always bring our appetites but we only order the pequeno (small) bowl because the large is way to much. These two empty-nesters plan on having lunch there next Christmas because they are open every day of the year.. read more
