Absolutely love this place. The old-school ambiance gives it so much character and feels way better than the bland, drab colors so many restaurants use these days trying to look "modern." It actually feels warm and welcoming. The authentic food is excellent, and the fresh-made tortillas make a huge difference. You can really taste the quality. Prices are very fair, portions are generous, and the service is always friendly. Easily one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the Rogue Valley area. Definitely a 5/5 for me. read more

Old building, spotless! Authentic and unique to the area menu items! Corn tortillas made to order on El Machino. Beer, horchata, Jamaica, soda. Meat broken down in house. We really enjoy coming here the staff is always nice and welcoming the food hot and the portions are ample enough for 2 meals. Our favorite so far is the Carne Asada Chimichanga Plate we actually haven't deviated from that plate yet. Hot sauce bar is amazing and they also provide chips and salsa while you wait for your plate. The decor is simple and flows throughout the restaurant. We like to come eat at least every month or so we recommend checking it out. read more

Solid authentic mexican food. Tacos are $2.50/each made traditionally using 2 small corn tortillas simply topped with choice of protein, diced white onion and cilantro *served with a lime wedge*. The carne asada was not dry today. I am super impressed with the salsa bar! They have stepped up their game and it turned a basic taco into a gourmet taco *YUM* Also ordered a super nacho for $10.99. It was a full meal and you might even need a fork to scoop up all the toppings *teenager did not complain - smiles* This place has gotten better with time! WOW! and YUM!!! Sunday a friend and I ordered a few dishes from Los Tres Potrillos and couldnt be more impressed with our food. I had pork burrito, Super Nachos and my friend had Cabeza burrito a 4 of the tiny tacos. We also selected a few salsas flavors and jalapenos from the salsa bar. I added a pic of this red one, I fell in love with!! They should bottle and sell it! Yumm! Jalapenos were smoky grilled and fantastic. My pork burrito was so good I ate till my stomach almost burst, just the right amount of meat, rice, onions and flavor....sooo GOOD! We each tried one anothers food and both agreed this place is a 5 and will be returning to try more. Only other comment is I wish there were a menu on line to view as I forgot to get a take out when I was there, love to know what the specialty dishes are. read more

Pretty sure this is our favorite place to dine in Phoenix, though admittedly in a bit of a food desert. LTP has an expansive menu...tacos, burritos, tortas, sopa, mariscos, fajitas, mole, tostadas, variety of meat options and a lot more. Pretty much if you're in the mood for mexican food variety, you'll likely find it here. The quality of the food has been consistently good/great for us. They make the tortillas in real time at time of order, so that's a big plus. I wish I could say I've tried every entree, but that would take forever to work through. The service has been super friendly, including the kitchen guys. They seem to have a good team working there. Plenty of seating too. read more

Love this family run business in Phoenix. Tried the food two weeks ago had four carne asada tacos ,four carnitas tacos a side of rice and beans. Meats were tender tasty and generous. Salsa bar is incredible so many choices.I mentioned that this was our first time coming into the restaurant to the young lady who took my order she invited me to come back Tuesdays all tacos are one dollar no limit. So we came back the following Tuesday and got eight carne asada tacos, four carnitas tacos, and a huge carne asada , bean and cheese burrito with a bottle of Coke for $20.00 what a deal.Food did not disappoint. Walking in to Los Tres Potrillos I could feel that the staff was working hard! I could hear the sizzle of the grill and the banter of the cooks in the back. My wife and I ordered veggie fajitas and the chile rellano burrito. The servings were huge and more importantly they were tasty! They make their own corn tortillas and they made the fajitas "pop"! The rellano was dipped in a fluffy batter and the wrapped in the burrito with fresh cilantro, rice, cheese, and beans. It is up there as one of the best Burritos I've ever had. I have enjoyed every Mexican food place this has been. The food here is okay... It has changed the most since the original Soco's Restaurant and while it is completely fine and edible I miss the friendliness of previous places. I work not to far away and went and called in a vegetarian burrito for pick up. I was SO hungry. I get my burrito (I always tip like I am eating there btw) and go back to work. I take my first bite and immediately bite into a large piece of steak. I think "shoot" they gave me the wrong burrito. Not the end of the world but kind of a pain. I am super hungry still so I jump back in my car and take the burrito back. When I return the burrito, the girl at the counter relays the mix up to the owner (in Spanish) the owner proceeds to tell my I am wrong and rather rudely rips the burrito from my hands and shows me there is not meat inside. I realize what happened wasn't the fact the burrito was WRONG just that it had gotten a piece or two of steak in it that shouldn't have been there. I try to explain and show him the side of the burrito with the steak in it but he refuses to allow me too. He just kinda huffs off and I did get another burrito but I was left feeling embarrassed and confused. I am polite to a fault and was super kind to everyone involved when I first ordered AND when I went back because of the steak. If I had opened the burrito and realized the rest of it didn't have meat I probably would have just eaten it but because I was so hungry and thought I got the wrong thing and didn't want to waste time I just jumped up and went back. I have been back once since and the owners energy is just all around negative. I got plenty of other places I can go near by and so do your other customers so being NICE might be worth it. read more

I am a longtime fan of the taco spot across the street, so when I heard that a couple of the cooks had moved across the street I had to give it a try. Months later, I finally got around to it, and was not disappointed. After trying 5 different tacos, I will say that the Birria and Chorizo were the best of the bunch. That said, there were several other choices on the menu that I did not try purely due to fullness of the stomach. I will certainly be going back to branch off from the Tacos to test some menu items out. Not to be missed is their salsa bar, some great sauces there to amp up the flavors. Don't expect super warm service, or the nicest interior decor, but come on that isnt why you would go to a taco spot anyway. If you are looking for fancier tacos and nice spot, head to Ashland, there are at least three places you can pay twice as much for less authentic food. read more

Today my mother in law and I had decided to order some food from this restaurant. A new place we have never been since we started working here a few years ago. I had called in a to go order for a quesadilla, a couple tacos and a torta. Everything was fine, and she said it would be ready in 20 minutes. So I had arrived after 20 minutes and when I walked in she said they didn't have tortas so she asked if I wanted a burrito instead. I said sure went to pay for my order when I had seen it was almost $100. I was confused and had asked why and she said it was because I had ordered 8 quesadillas.. I said im sorry but I only ordered 1. We had gotten into a back and forth about the order because she insisted that she had confirmed with me 3 times that I said 8 quesadillas. Now by this time my patience were running thin. So not only are you trying to make me pay for 8 things when I only ordered 1. You're also saying you don't have something on your menu that I ordered and you also confirmed.... I ended up canceling the order. First time I had ever been there and it will definitely be the last. I understand small businesses are having a difficult time right now, i work for one. But I would never be some rude to someone. The food isn't the only thing that makes a restaurant. I had dinner at this restaurant last night and honestly I wish I could put ZERO stars. My burrito was completely cold and it might as well could have been called a lettuce burrito. Also if you're serving wet burritos you should probably let the customers know. Second thing. The chips for the salsa came out after I was almost done with my food.....what's the point?
