The owner asked if I wanted salsas -- and of course I said yes! The salsa macho was delicious --'smoky' and rich while the picante one was great on the pastel de choco. My husband though was truly blown away by the maduros which tasted like ones he had in childhood in PR (the best he's had in forever). When we left, we told the owner how much we enjoyed the meal, and he really did seem touched. Then when we told our son about the place, he was stoked and said he cannot wait to visit. Great find!

The food offerings include chips & salsa ($), pupusas, pastelitos, enchiladas, tacos, burritos, quesadillas, gorditas, fajitas, pineapple bowls, fried tilapia, and meat platters. I stopped by Cocina Lupita Turners Falls for dinner recently and dined in. I was given a menu and offered an ice water. I ordered the Chicken Fajitas ($19 plus tax) which were slightly different from what I order at a Mexican restaurant. The Fajitas came out piled onto a very hot iron plate, served with rice & red beans and salad (iceberg, tomato, cucumber) with dressing on the side, no tortillas or guac & sour cream for these fajitas. The fajitas were not too greasy/oily, which had a mix of tender chicken pieces, carrots, greens peppers, onions, & greens. The rice & beans and the salad with ranch dressing complemented the hot plate of chicken fajitas. I finished the three plates of food and was all set. First of all, be mindful that there's limited accessibility into Bueno y Sano. There's steps leading up into a dual pull doorways, which is nice and quaint in historic Amherst. Inside, there are also steps leading from the entrance up to the clerks' cash register and kitchen along with salsas, a soda machine, a freezer, and the restrooms. There's still outside dining if you can visit with a friend who can help get your meal inside. The quality is absolutely worth it. Bueno y Sano has likely been around for so long because their meals are consistently bright, rich, and flavorful. Keeping cilantro fresh has been a challenge for me, since I surely could use it more. For Bueno y Sano, they must have some of the freshest vegetables in the valley to consistently cook and serve them tightly wrapped in durable but soft burrito tortillas.
