Ironically, the first tourist-oriented restaurant I saw that had more locals than travelers.
Very homey. Staff are polite. The overhead fans offer a welcome respite from the intense humidity. A bit more expensive, but maybe tourist tax.
JUGO DE MANGO: Hm... Much like other local spots, the juice seems to be kept unrefrigerated, with ice added later. Ripe and sweet, but my stomach hasn't built the strength to tolerate this yet ^^;
PLATO DE NOPALES: Savory and tender-- perfectly cooked beans and rice. Gave my partner the flashback moment from Ratatouille LOL, he said the cactus tasted just like how his grandparents make it. Wow!
CAZUELA DE MARISCOS: Very boiled. Maybe a bit too boiled. The soup is flavorful and delicious, but at the cost of overcooking the seafood. Still good with the tortillas, but texture a bit rubbery all around.
Their chipotle sauce is probably the best I've had in Mazunte so far! Couldn't get enough of it-- creamy. sweet, and spicy. read more
