Our first meal in Mezunte! One of our Airbnb host's recommendations. Complete hidden treasure, literally tucked down an alley and up a tiny spiral staircase. Once inside, you're met with a lively atmosphere and warm hospitality. Great start to our trip~
AGUA DE LIMON CON CHIA: Much-needed reviver from the sweltering heat... Not too sweet and refreshing.
FISHERMAN TIRITAS / TIRITAS DE PESCADO (mild): Amazing! Fresh & flavorful fish. TBH I chickened out and asked for mild-- I think medium would've given this a better balance! Or maybe my spice tolerance has finally gone up...
BATTERED TACOS (fish) / TACOS DE PASCADO REBOZADOS: The batter is unbelievably light, not greasy at all. The fish nearly melts in your mouth among the crunch of fresh veggies and peanut sauce.
PULPO AL AJILLO: Upon ordering this, our server sagely advised cutting back on other items since the portion alone is massive. LOL. And he was right to do so-- this. Is. HUGE. Comes with shrimp, salad, grilled vegetables, mashed yucca (?), and bread. The octopus itself is beautifully soft and garlicky, while the other veggies added a nice burst of freshness. This is a FEAST.
NOTE: It seems they no longer serve dessert-- perhaps they'll bring it back in the future. read more
