The food was 10/10! Very lively ambiance, and the service was also really good! The food takes the win though, everything was delicious! Would totally come back

We tried eating here the night before, but they were too packed, so we tried again the next day at an earlier time and got seated towards the back. We ordered so much food and drinks! The decor is very interesting! The floor is made out of sand and there is a branch holding up a light build in the restroom stalls. There was also some graffiti artwork on one of the walls. We shared the tricolor tiradito, garlic shrimp, tiradito serrano, Peruvian ceviche, and black fish. Everything was so flavorful and delicious. My hubby liked the chilled serrano dish so much, that he ordered another one for himself. I liked that the dishes were so colorful and came with plantains, cornuts, and shaved corn. For drinks, we had the agua pina, fresa, jengibre, the toronja and romero, chetu mare, molinari, pisco sour, mezcal sour, shots of mexcal espadin, and a beer. The drinks were nice and strong and the agua frescas were healthy tasting. We also decided to try the dessert of the day and it was some kind of yummy chocolate cake. Service was excellent and the music was great- we even did some dancing and he sang along to a few songs. Everyone here is just so happy and tipsy haha. No wonder we couldn't get seats the night before. I just wanted to point out that my hubby got food poisoning a few hours afterwards and we think it was from the dish the tiradito dish that we didn't share. Overall, we had a great time here and would still come back though, if we happen to be travelling here again.

Visited this week for lunch with a group of 4 other friends. We were all in town for a wedding and this was recommended to us. We went for a late lunch on a Sunday and there were not many other people there at that time. Chicama has a sand floor and wait staff are walking around barefoot so it has a really unique and awesome beach vibe. The place looks small from the outside but it is a little deceiving because it wraps around to the right after the bar area. They make everything fresh in an open kitchen and their Peruvian cuisine was AMAZING. We ordered a bunch of different dishes and it was easily our favorite meal of the trip. I am sharing pictures with the review and, if we had to pick a winner, it was the tartare de pescado, but honestly, it would be hard to go wrong with anything on their menu. The prices were less than other places we went yet the portions and quality were greater. The total meal plus 7 drinks came to under 2500 pesos and we were all very full by the end. Wait staff spoke English which was helpful for us and they were really attentive and wonderful. The menus have descriptions in both Spanish and English but the English was blurred a bit on many of the menus. Highly recommend checking them out if you are in the area.

Amazing !!! Chicama was the first restaurant I decided to try when coming to Puerto Escondido. Vibes are chill and our servers gave great recommendations and service. We started off with drinks, and they did not disappoint! The Peruvian ceviche had much flavor and the tiraditos were definitely my favorite.

Food was delicious!! Long wait time during peak hours, so don't show up starving. Good music as well. There was one very loud singing rowdy table, but it didn't bother us too much. Overall recommend for fresh tasting seafood.

Butter garlic shrimp and 3 different sashimis with jalapeños sauce, Serrano pepper sauce and habanero sauce- all so good!

Tigers milk ceviche! I've been to Peru and this restaurant does a fantastic job on Peruvian ceviche. Everything was delicious. We had the garlic buttery shrimp, tigers milk ceviche (not pictured) and the sashimi with option to choose 3. We chose all the ones with spice! Soo bomb, we would go here again!! Drinks were on point too, had the mezcal sour & my partner had many different types of mezcals.

Bit pricey but offers a more elevated dining experience. We had local raw fish with three different sauces and a sesame crusted tuna which we shared with 4 people. We are at lunch and it was really quiet but at night we noticed a line out the door of people waiting.

El ceviche peruano está buenísimo. Lo único mal es que son mesas compartidas. Laos meseros muy amables. Los Baños podrían mejorar.

Seldom do you have a restaurant so fancy and tasty with a sand floor, but in a beach town, this is the way.

After landing, we were ready to eat and found this place near where we were staying. Our taxi…read moredriver also recommended this place, so I was excited to try it, especially since it's located right along the beach. We were celebrating our 3 year wedding anniversary on this trip, so we went all out. We ordered aguachile negro, tuna carpaccio, pulpo, vuelve a la vida, suerito, huachinango, and a few cocktails. Salad, potato wedges, and tortillas also came with our meal. Everything was nicely presented and tasted great! All of the dishes were so flavorful. We ended up ordering more of our favorites for our first dinner stop. There was also a young lady playing some tunes, so it made the ambience a little more romantic. She doesn't work for the restaurant, so we just gave her a tip before she left. The only complaint I have is that mosquitos and flies were buzzing around once the sun was starting to set. Other than that, I had a wonderful time here.

They have some awesome art inside along with their van out front. The area next to the ocean has bean bags that you can sit on and relax. The service staff is incredibly friendly, helpful, and quick to help. Food/drinks: the food was delicious! I absolutely love Oaxaca!... we ordered the shrimp which was out of this world good and the red snapper plate which was also absolutely delicious. The drinks were also great along with their wine I would definitely recommend this place if you are in this area, want a wonderful place to eat and be right next to the ocean.

Restaurante Puerto Angelito - Octopus tostadas are the bomb here YUM! :))

Puerto Angelito is a little fishing port in Puerto Escondido, AKA, "little Angel" fishing/boat port…read morethat also has a fabulous swimming beach. The Main restaurant "Puerto Angelito" sits at the top of a steep steep cliff, like a YUGE concrete fortress with steps going down the front, right to the edge of the water, on the beach. It's quite magnificent actually. Wild, natural, not a commercialized place, no AC, outdoor toilets etc., One day I was here, I literally walked down the steps & jumped into the water with my snorkeling gear on & right there under the sea water, in reaching distance, giant sea turtles were swimming about! Scared the jaheebazees out of me. Anyhoo, it's a fantastic place. A wild, natural, gorgeous beach & a equally fabulous restaurant. There are other smaller restaurants there but this is the main one on the cliff. The best one. If you walk down from town, it's quite a hike. And quite dangerous, as it's on a cliff overlooking the ocean. There are no guard rails or safety steps on the way, your on your on so be careful getting here on foot or just take a taxi. There is a long long long concrete stairway down the cliff, but it is very straight down stairs. You can also follow the road down if the stairs are too scary for you. An "Open Air" restaurant, come as you are. In your bikini no problemo. I spent the best thanksgiving I ever had in my life here in my bikini. They served us the freshest fish! Ohhhhhhhhhhhh my gosh. BEST THANKSGIVING DINNER EVER. We had a table right at the edge of the ocean. We swam, snorkeled, drank, ate & swam & drank & ate some more, all day long, wet, in our swimsuits. THE. BEST. DAY. EVER. The local fisherman drag their boats up on the beach after a morning of fishing every day. They bring the days fresh catch straight up to the restaurant. (See pics) You can get just about any kind of seafood here, the fresh fish & the octopus are my favorite as well as the shrimp quesadilla's with the local Oaxaca cheese. They also make a fabulous hot sauce with fresh habanero that I love. They also serve beer & wine & mezcal. The owners family make their own mezcal & it's very good. We drank tons of it. Haha. Good times. I spent just about every day here at the beach for 8 months straight & I never had one bad meal. My absolutely favorite dish is their octopus Tostadas. I ate them all over Puerto Escondido also, but they make the best octopus tostadas I have ever had. Puerto Angelito's octopus tostadas are to.die.4! Big chunky Tender octopus with just the right marinade! YUM! Can't wait to get back to have a plate full of them or two, in my bikini of course hahah. FYI: There is a little oyster farm a few miles down the coast, on Fridays, the fishing boats bring fresh oysters from there, here, to Puerto Angelito & shuck them fresh for you. You can get a couple doz for about $12 USD. Very good oysters. There are no "reservations" for tables & umbrellas on the beach. If you want a good table next to the ocean for the day, get there early. It's always nice to get there early & watch the place open, the place comes alive. It fills up quickly with locals & tourist alike, children running around having a blast. Photo ops everywhere. There are also little shops full of beachy stuff to purchase if you forgot your towel, swimsuit, toys etc., Two days are never the same here but it's always epic in every way. One of my favorite places on earth, my final destination. See you soon.
