This is the lovely open air rooftop Restaurant in the Villas Carrizalillo Hotel that sits high on a Cliff overlooking la Playa Carrizalillo beach way way way down below. Locally, it's the most popular place where everyone goes for brunch, date night or a special occasion, as it has fabulous views, great food & is very romantic. The hotel & restaurant is very beautiful, the service is excellent & the Local Oaxaca food is always amazing here. I spent about a year here & ate here a lot. It's one of my favorite places in Puerto Escondido. I always end up here. One of my most favorite fish dishes of all time is the banana leaf wrapped filet in adobo. Its phenomenal. I also love the fresh octopus & the shrimp & filet. The breakfast/brunch is also fabulous, the fresh fruit dishes are amazing & the burger is a fresh ground short rib. Hubby & I love that they sprinkle the fries with fresh local Oaxacan cheese & herbs. Of course the Margaritas are also excellent, it's a must visit place when in Puerto Escondido for cocktails & sunsets. Travel is the only thing you can buy that makes you richer, and this is one of our favorite dreamy destinations. Highest Recommendations.

What a great spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The views are beautiful any times of day. The food is delicious. It over looks the beach. Watch all of the surfers while you enjoy some delicious Mexican food

The view is an 11/10: gentle sea breeze while you overlook Playa Carrizalillo. We were there for lunch but the sunsets must be stunning. The ambiance was dreamy. Food: 2/5. Prices were a bit on the high side. Presentation was nice but the flavours were bland and everything seemed oily. The salad was swimming in dressing and we couldn't finish it. Service: terse to average. Overall: come for the view, but don't have high hopes for anything else.

The view is amazing! Came here for lunch after relaxing in Playa Carrizalillo and the food was as complimenting as the scenery. I ordered a Frappuccino to cool off and the flavor was indulgent. I also ordered a fish entree, which was cooked to perfection. Service is friendly and of course you can't beat the amazing view!

The views here alone are enough to make this place worth a visit. We came at the perfect time right before sunset and it was soo beautiful! The food is a plus here as well. Don't remember the name of my dish but I had the seafood pasta and it was the perfect portion. A must stop if you're in Puerto Escondido!

Amazing view. The coconut shrimp was wonderful. Also highly recommend the margarita with mezcal, lime and cucumber.

Great food. Excellent view and a beautiful sunset. Everyone enjoyed their meal here. We had 3 thumbs up for the rib eye steak. My raviolis were awesome

THE VIEW. And the prices for breakfast? Wow. How on earth. So I was just kind of wandering towards the beach and found this place for breakfast on a Sunday, it was absolutely fantastic! Great service and surprisingly affordable breakfast! Go with a fresh juice, the americano was basic.

The venue is perfect. Has unobstructed views of playa Carrizalillo, the sunset, the sea breeze. It's perfect for birthday celebrations and special occasions. However, I expected more from the kitchen. The dishes are very well presented, with medium to small portions but It lacked flavor, salt and seasoning in some entrees. The appetizers were the best part of the food experience and the deserts the worst. Overall, the place offers a very well-rounded dinning experience, but not memorable.

Go in time to wait for a table before sunset on the terrace. They don't take reservations, so get on the list and order a cocktail. The view is the best in town.

The views alone are with this place. Hostess and staff absolutely amazing and friendly. We had as an appetizer Chicharrón de pulpo and it was fantastic! Colorful and beautifully presented! Located in the state of Oaxaca the mole is a must. This chicken mole took me back on how it was presented and totally delicious!! My husband ordered coconut shrimp (smaller portion) but definitely worth it nonetheless. We ordered a mint lemonade and it was fresh and refreshing. You can tell that everything they do is from scratch. Don't pass this place up. They also conveniently take pesos and card. Not many place in Puerto Escondido take card.

Nothing special, except the view. The view was much better then the food! It's located off a cliff overlooking Bahia Carrizalillo.

Always busy, extensive menu with something for everyone, casual, and reasonably priced. There is usually a crowd waiting to eat here but don't just get in line--make sure you check in and put your name on the waitlist first. They will call your name when a table is ready for you. Although it's bustling, service is prompt & food comes out quickly. Everything we got was solid breakfast. Not pictured but we also ordered takeout from here when I was having stomach problems, and the chicken soup + chocolate cake really hit the spot. I don't think you need to go out of your way to try it but worth eating at if the wait isn't too long and you're in the area!

My husband and I split the cinnamon roll (I wish there had been more filling and more icing), and it was dense yet still moist. We both had French toast which was some of the most innovative and flavorful French toast I've ever had. The service was fast and friendly. I'm giving it 3 stars because I wanted to donate to the bread/coffee drive they have going, and despite my speaking Spanish, neither our server nor the cashier knew what I was asking to do. Even my husband, who is a fluent Spanish speaker, explained and they looked at us like we were speaking Greek. But, it's got good food, and a nice atmosphere, so give it a try!!

Puerto Angelito is a little fishing port in Puerto Escondido, AKA, "little Angel" fishing/boat port…read morethat also has a fabulous swimming beach. The Main restaurant "Puerto Angelito" sits at the top of a steep steep cliff, like a YUGE concrete fortress with steps going down the front, right to the edge of the water, on the beach. It's quite magnificent actually. Wild, natural, not a commercialized place, no AC, outdoor toilets etc., One day I was here, I literally walked down the steps & jumped into the water with my snorkeling gear on & right there under the sea water, in reaching distance, giant sea turtles were swimming about! Scared the jaheebazees out of me. Anyhoo, it's a fantastic place. A wild, natural, gorgeous beach & a equally fabulous restaurant. There are other smaller restaurants there but this is the main one on the cliff. The best one. If you walk down from town, it's quite a hike. And quite dangerous, as it's on a cliff overlooking the ocean. There are no guard rails or safety steps on the way, your on your on so be careful getting here on foot or just take a taxi. There is a long long long concrete stairway down the cliff, but it is very straight down stairs. You can also follow the road down if the stairs are too scary for you. An "Open Air" restaurant, come as you are. In your bikini no problemo. I spent the best thanksgiving I ever had in my life here in my bikini. They served us the freshest fish! Ohhhhhhhhhhhh my gosh. BEST THANKSGIVING DINNER EVER. We had a table right at the edge of the ocean. We swam, snorkeled, drank, ate & swam & drank & ate some more, all day long, wet, in our swimsuits. THE. BEST. DAY. EVER. The local fisherman drag their boats up on the beach after a morning of fishing every day. They bring the days fresh catch straight up to the restaurant. (See pics) You can get just about any kind of seafood here, the fresh fish & the octopus are my favorite as well as the shrimp quesadilla's with the local Oaxaca cheese. They also make a fabulous hot sauce with fresh habanero that I love. They also serve beer & wine & mezcal. The owners family make their own mezcal & it's very good. We drank tons of it. Haha. Good times. I spent just about every day here at the beach for 8 months straight & I never had one bad meal. My absolutely favorite dish is their octopus Tostadas. I ate them all over Puerto Escondido also, but they make the best octopus tostadas I have ever had. Puerto Angelito's octopus tostadas are to.die.4! Big chunky Tender octopus with just the right marinade! YUM! Can't wait to get back to have a plate full of them or two, in my bikini of course hahah. FYI: There is a little oyster farm a few miles down the coast, on Fridays, the fishing boats bring fresh oysters from there, here, to Puerto Angelito & shuck them fresh for you. You can get a couple doz for about $12 USD. Very good oysters. There are no "reservations" for tables & umbrellas on the beach. If you want a good table next to the ocean for the day, get there early. It's always nice to get there early & watch the place open, the place comes alive. It fills up quickly with locals & tourist alike, children running around having a blast. Photo ops everywhere. There are also little shops full of beachy stuff to purchase if you forgot your towel, swimsuit, toys etc., Two days are never the same here but it's always epic in every way. One of my favorite places on earth, my final destination. See you soon.

This place is also not nearly as crowded as Taqueria Rosy so I feel like that is saying something also. However, this place has a much more extensive menu and like I said before the pozole is decent. My partner ordered the pork pozole and I tried everything in his bowl except for the meat and really enjoyed it - esp with the lime juice which I think it needed. Also interesting that they gave you chicharon. One thing I did really like was how much radish they gave you in your soup and there was a lot of tasty sauces you could add also. The atmosphere was also nice and the waiter attentive. The portion size furthermore was huge and my partner and I had no problem feeling full after sharing a meal.

Unfortunately, Rosey's was closed on back to back days so I will truly never know if Rosey's is better than La Cazuela. La Cazuela is a cool joint. Yes aside from the infamous pozolez the restaurant does serve a decent taco. I tried the Tinga and suadero. Lived both. Now, let's talk about the pozole which seems to be what La Cazuela is known for. If I were to tell you that the pozole is served bland, you might say I don't know squat. Suffice to say that Cazuela understands the taste buds of all people. If you happen to know a thing or two about pozole, you will know it's always about the base. The added ingredients that add glover yo your dish cones readily available at the table side. If this a good thing or bad thing. Well, in my opinion I was able to add the right amount of each ingredient to make my pozole taste as good as I like it No harm or foul, especially when you consider that place is filled with locals that know a thing or two about making their bowel of pozole taste like Mamas. That being said, swing by and to taste a large bowl. A concert to remember in this case if you don't like flavoring your own food, like menudo you're in the wrong place.
