Please don't come for me if this is not an accurate comparison, but to me this place felt like IHOP…read more(& I love IHOP!). Always busy, extensive menu with something for everyone, casual, and reasonably priced. There is usually a crowd waiting to eat here but don't just get in line--make sure you check in and put your name on the waitlist first. They will call your name when a table is ready for you. Although it's bustling, service is prompt & food comes out quickly. Everything we got was solid breakfast. Not pictured but we also ordered takeout from here when I was having stomach problems, and the chicken soup + chocolate cake really hit the spot. I don't think you need to go out of your way to try it but worth eating at if the wait isn't too long and you're in the area!

This place gets BUSY; it gets busy early and it seems to stay busy throughout the day…read more The food itself is nicely done. My husband and I split the cinnamon roll (I wish there had been more filling and more icing), and it was dense yet still moist. We both had French toast which was some of the most innovative and flavorful French toast I've ever had. The service was fast and friendly. I'm giving it 3 stars because I wanted to donate to the bread/coffee drive they have going, and despite my speaking Spanish, neither our server nor the cashier knew what I was asking to do. Even my husband, who is a fluent Spanish speaker, explained and they looked at us like we were speaking Greek. But, it's got good food, and a nice atmosphere, so give it a try!!

Five stars for the view and service. Food was good to really good, but honestly not that memorable…read more I had the dorado a la diabla which was a nice Mahi mahi cooked well but lacked the punch you would expect from an a la diabla dish. Very good otherwise, but I wanted heat! Also tried the arrachera which was again, good, but not great for Mexico. I get it. It's a hotel restaurant which probably caters to American and Canadian tastes, but I guess there should be an option for those that like spicy food :) So many tourist spots have a killer super spicy salsa to make up for this, but sadly we didn't find it here. Getting there was also a little challenge. We had no problem with our cab driver that we made friends with, but it might be a challenge or actually a reason to charge more for the carefree tourist. There is actually quite a bit of unpaved bumpy dirt road to get there A good reminder to ask about the fare before you take the ride. I was shocked how little our guy charged us but he did say he would charge more if we were a normal tourist fare. Worth the trip for the views and service for sure. Looks like a great surf spot in the cove below too!

Puerto Angelito is a little fishing port in Puerto Escondido, AKA, "little Angel" fishing/boat port…read morethat also has a fabulous swimming beach. The Main restaurant "Puerto Angelito" sits at the top of a steep steep cliff, like a YUGE concrete fortress with steps going down the front, right to the edge of the water, on the beach. It's quite magnificent actually. Wild, natural, not a commercialized place, no AC, outdoor toilets etc., One day I was here, I literally walked down the steps & jumped into the water with my snorkeling gear on & right there under the sea water, in reaching distance, giant sea turtles were swimming about! Scared the jaheebazees out of me. Anyhoo, it's a fantastic place. A wild, natural, gorgeous beach & a equally fabulous restaurant. There are other smaller restaurants there but this is the main one on the cliff. The best one. If you walk down from town, it's quite a hike. And quite dangerous, as it's on a cliff overlooking the ocean. There are no guard rails or safety steps on the way, your on your on so be careful getting here on foot or just take a taxi. There is a long long long concrete stairway down the cliff, but it is very straight down stairs. You can also follow the road down if the stairs are too scary for you. An "Open Air" restaurant, come as you are. In your bikini no problemo. I spent the best thanksgiving I ever had in my life here in my bikini. They served us the freshest fish! Ohhhhhhhhhhhh my gosh. BEST THANKSGIVING DINNER EVER. We had a table right at the edge of the ocean. We swam, snorkeled, drank, ate & swam & drank & ate some more, all day long, wet, in our swimsuits. THE. BEST. DAY. EVER. The local fisherman drag their boats up on the beach after a morning of fishing every day. They bring the days fresh catch straight up to the restaurant. (See pics) You can get just about any kind of seafood here, the fresh fish & the octopus are my favorite as well as the shrimp quesadilla's with the local Oaxaca cheese. They also make a fabulous hot sauce with fresh habanero that I love. They also serve beer & wine & mezcal. The owners family make their own mezcal & it's very good. We drank tons of it. Haha. Good times. I spent just about every day here at the beach for 8 months straight & I never had one bad meal. My absolutely favorite dish is their octopus Tostadas. I ate them all over Puerto Escondido also, but they make the best octopus tostadas I have ever had. Puerto Angelito's octopus tostadas are to.die.4! Big chunky Tender octopus with just the right marinade! YUM! Can't wait to get back to have a plate full of them or two, in my bikini of course hahah. FYI: There is a little oyster farm a few miles down the coast, on Fridays, the fishing boats bring fresh oysters from there, here, to Puerto Angelito & shuck them fresh for you. You can get a couple doz for about $12 USD. Very good oysters. There are no "reservations" for tables & umbrellas on the beach. If you want a good table next to the ocean for the day, get there early. It's always nice to get there early & watch the place open, the place comes alive. It fills up quickly with locals & tourist alike, children running around having a blast. Photo ops everywhere. There are also little shops full of beachy stuff to purchase if you forgot your towel, swimsuit, toys etc., Two days are never the same here but it's always epic in every way. One of my favorite places on earth, my final destination. See you soon.

This place is also not nearly as crowded as Taqueria Rosy so I feel like that is saying something also. However, this place has a much more extensive menu and like I said before the pozole is decent. My partner ordered the pork pozole and I tried everything in his bowl except for the meat and really enjoyed it - esp with the lime juice which I think it needed. Also interesting that they gave you chicharon. One thing I did really like was how much radish they gave you in your soup and there was a lot of tasty sauces you could add also. The atmosphere was also nice and the waiter attentive. The portion size furthermore was huge and my partner and I had no problem feeling full after sharing a meal.

Unfortunately, Rosey's was closed on back to back days so I will truly never know if Rosey's is better than La Cazuela. La Cazuela is a cool joint. Yes aside from the infamous pozolez the restaurant does serve a decent taco. I tried the Tinga and suadero. Lived both. Now, let's talk about the pozole which seems to be what La Cazuela is known for. If I were to tell you that the pozole is served bland, you might say I don't know squat. Suffice to say that Cazuela understands the taste buds of all people. If you happen to know a thing or two about pozole, you will know it's always about the base. The added ingredients that add glover yo your dish cones readily available at the table side. If this a good thing or bad thing. Well, in my opinion I was able to add the right amount of each ingredient to make my pozole taste as good as I like it No harm or foul, especially when you consider that place is filled with locals that know a thing or two about making their bowel of pozole taste like Mamas. That being said, swing by and to taste a large bowl. A concert to remember in this case if you don't like flavoring your own food, like menudo you're in the wrong place.

We were celebrating our 3 year wedding anniversary on this trip, so we went all out. We ordered aguachile negro, tuna carpaccio, pulpo, vuelve a la vida, suerito, huachinango, and a few cocktails. Salad, potato wedges, and tortillas also came with our meal. Everything was nicely presented and tasted great! All of the dishes were so flavorful. We ended up ordering more of our favorites for our first dinner stop. There was also a young lady playing some tunes, so it made the ambience a little more romantic. She doesn't work for the restaurant, so we just gave her a tip before she left. The only complaint I have is that mosquitos and flies were buzzing around once the sun was starting to set. Other than that, I had a wonderful time here.
