We also had a lemonade and it's very Mexican it taste nothing like an American Lemonade. The lemonade is made when fresh limes and has a sweetness not tart at all. Great customer service, plenty of parking, and just good old goodness. Enjoyed the food and will recommend this spot to those who want some great Mexican food. Lots of Mexican families eating there too, which I always take as a good sign: and I wasn't disappointed. Clean but quaint, friendly servers, extensive menu. Salsa was freshly made and served table side in a small carafe so you could keep it topped off yourself. Chips were thick and corn flavored. We had the beef enchiladas Texanas, which are three corn tortillas stuffed with ground beef and topped with a good chile con carne and freshly shredded yellow cheese. The beef enchiladas Mexicanas is the same plate, but the enchiladas are topped with a red sauce and white cheese. The wait staff are very friendly, and they all are bilingual. However the food seems to be pointed towards the more American side, made to pass off as Authentic. The most original Latin American dish I came close to enjoying was the Caldo De Res, and Caldo de Camarones. The broth is very tasteful. We arrived at Los Tapatios on a Friday night. The restaurant is smaller, but has both tables and booths. We were greeted upon arrival with a smile and directions to sit where we would like. The chips and salsa were very good, a nice bite to the salsa. My frozen strawberry margarita was delicious. And my friend had a Mexican coke. I ordered the fried whole tilapia....DELICIOUS!! I could go on and on about how good this was...brava!! I also had refried beans (so creamy) and fries. My friend ordered the tortilla soup. It was very authentic with chicken, carrots, zucchini, potatoes, and avocado. There was a LOT of chicken!! She added lime juice and some of the delicious salsa to her bowl...wonderful! The food is good but not great, they could do better on the asada as it was tough to chew. Their red pozole is tasty and the guisado was also good! The chips and salsa are not that great. The chips were pieces/crumbs and they were stale. I just really think they could do better on the cleanliness and the service. We asked for a refill on our drinks three times to no avail. Another waitress came to check on us once and also failed to bring a refill. I get that it's a hole in the wall but service is just terrible. Decided to give them a try today and we were very disappointed. The food is very blah. We tried the cheese enchiladas and beef chimichanga. They were both very bland and lacked any flavor or spice. I had a taste for tacos and wanted something more than Taco Bell, which I've eaten almost everyday since it came to my neighborhood two weeks ago, so that should give you an idea of my expectation. Menudo was the first thing I saw, the next was tacos...I ordered both! I hadn't had menudo (my friend said the stuff I eat from the can does not count) since I was probably 12, so I was excited. I expected a soup heavy laden with hominy with a few pieces of tripe but I was surprised that it came with very little hominy and lots of tripe. I'm not a fan of hominy so this was worth a whole star. It didn't come with lemon only cilantro, onion and jalapeño. I would say I like my menudo spicy so I would have preferred it to be spiced up a bit more. The tacos were very good. I got the pastor (pork)! It was flavorful with a bit of crisp. There were some nicely caramelized onions in with the pork. The tacos came with chopped raw onion and cilantro. At first I was disturbed there was crema but the pork was so good anything else would have covered the flavor. This place is actually an hour from my home, but if it were closer I would go back. Came to this location for brunch with my brother and we were a bit disappointed. Place was a bit crowded and it seemed to be an ok number of waitresses but they still took forever to come to us to get out order and our food took too long. His order came first and it took a while for me to get my food which I really dislike when they don't bring food out at the same time. He had the barbacoa tacos, they were ok but by the time they finally brought the limes he asked for they were already cold. I had the pozole, it was also ok, not a lot of meat.
