This is my go to pupusa spot. I usually order over the phone and pick it up. I ordered over the phone for take out. The person over the phone was ready to take my order and nice. Usually there's only a few folks working but they always greet you when you come in and are courteous. This time, I ordered 3 pupusas (chicharon and cheese), a side of rice, and a side of plantains. Eveeything was really good by my plantains weren't warm. I always love that they give you a lot of curtido and sauce for your pupusas. They have a parking lot right next door with a blue wall. Entrance is a missionn though so it's easy to miss if you do not know where you are going. Overall, a great place for yummy pupusas

I wasn't sure if it was self seating or if I needed to check in with anyone but it wasn't busy when I walked in, so I just sat at a table of choice. Service was great and the pupusas were made fresh. They were piping out when I was served. The inside of the restaurant is fairly quiet and I appreciated the fact that they a designated parking space available! Bean and Cheese Pupusa -- 4.5/5. Can't really go wrong with a bean and cheese pupusa honestly. Chicken and Cheese Pupusa -- 5/5. Packed with so much flavor, this pupusa was honestly my favorite! Would definitely recommend Los Planes to one that is craving pupusas and wanting to eat them in a restaurant!

Food: 3/5 I ordered two Pupusas. One queso y ayote and one queso y pollo. I found them to be mild in flavor and thinly filled. The red sauce enhanced the flavor and the spicy cabbage added kick. I enjoyed the queso y ayote over the queso y pollo. This was my first time here. I've had Pupusas before but frijol y queso. I love some refried beans. Overall the food was good, just preferred more filling and flavor. For a beverage I went with a Pineapple agua Fresca. I wish they offered Hibiscus or strawberry. The selection was limited to three flavors. Service: 5/5 Customer service is the key component to any transaction. The server greeted me when I entered, and was helpful answering questions I had regarding the menu. My order was freshly made and came out pretty quick. She checked in to see if everything was ok. I love great customer service. Ambiance: 3/5 The restaurant was clean, empty, just one couple inside. The decor was minimal. Your standard dining tables and booths.

Saw this place as we're driving by. Pupusas were delicious. Had the chicharrón y queso , queso con jalapeños. Chicharrón was the best for me .

This use to be my go to place for pupusa's but the last few times I've ordered were terrible. Burnt pupusa's and melted to the styrofoam container. I don't know if they changed owners but the food is not the same. Today I got something crunchy in my food and finally had to draw the line and leave this review in hopes they will get back on top of things and turn it around.

An affordable and delicious place to eat in downtown Hayward. Pupusas and curtido on point. My wife loved her queso y loroco pupusa. Service was excellent. Couldn't ask for anything more.

Jalapeño papusa with nothing in there lol

3.5 rounded up to four. 3 due to the lack of filling in the papusas and the extra star cuz of the other delicious foods they have. My boyfriend and I frequented this spot for papusas all the time and the other day we ordered 3 jalapeño papusas & one Loroco, and a order of sweet empanadas. My empanadas were bomb per usual but all the papusas was 4/5ths corn flour and 1/5 filling lol super disappointed but whatever I enjoy their other dishes. I just won't be returning for papusas but definitely the plates. We also love their pina drink- lots of pulp if you're into that. I love their corn tamal, regular tamales, basically all the side dishes lol When we dine in, they do take a while to prepare your food so be ready. The have beers though so if you drink, there's a way to pass the time.

Pupusa , Tamal , Enchilada , Rice & Beans

We have visited this place a handful of times already and have really appreciated the array of options here and the consistency of the good food. We've gotten the combination plate a few times. The tamales are always very tender and fresh, though the corn tamales were a bit on the sweeter side. The enchiladas have really good sauce to it and are always cheesy. The pupusas are amazing and although they are a bit salty, they are fresh and have great toppings inside. You can get a 10% discount off of our food if you pay in cash. The thing that annoys me most about this place is how sometimes the wait is 45 minutes, but one time they called early to say the food was done 10 minutes early...What's the point of the point if I live 10 minutes away? They can be a bit disorganized when it comes to timing.

My family and I would come here a lot. Today I went to go pick up an order, the service was not it. The person who attended us was some girl with red streaks in her hair, she did not look happy to be there. I checked the salsa cup and it was not even full! It was clearly poured out and when I asked her about it she said "you get a full cup if you order 20 pupusas". Really disappointed in the service:(

**COVID TAKEOUT** I was here today because I have been wanting pupusas SO BAD. I did my research for my local area and there were so many mixed reviews. Then I found this place.. I ordered a two pupusa combination plate that comes w/rice and beans, 1 corn tamale and 1 pork tamale. That is totally not what I got. What they gave me (and charged me for) was 2 chicken pupusas, 1 bean/cheese and 1 chicharron. This is one time I'm grateful for the mix up! I got home, cut all of the pupusas in half and shared them! It was unanimous! We LOVED the chicharron and chicken! The flavors were SOOOO on point that it did not need the curtido that comes with it! The meat wasnt ground fine like other places you hear about! It had good size pieces of meat/filling. You know it's good when it needs nothing else and can be eaten as is! Onto the tamales.. The pork tamale was sooooo soft and had huge chunks of pork marinated with pieces of julienne carrots/chili peppers (mild). Delicious! I will say that I'm Spanish/Mexican so I'm used to a different kind of tamale, but this was a good representation of Salvadorian cuisine! I not fancy the corn tamale at all. It was too dry for me. But everything else, perfect! Please give these folks a try. They nailed it for me today! Gracias senoras por todo!

Pupusas and horchata

Was in the mood of pupusas and this was the nearest location to me. There was a bit of a wait, about 40 minutes for our food, which was only a total of 3 pupusas. The food was good and so was the horchata. If you're in the mood for pupusas I would recommend this stop, it will satisfy you.

Yucca Con Chicharron
Kalina K.

Man! This place is a gem! That Yucca Con Chicharron was so freaking good omg. Just the right amount of crispyness and it WASN'T hella greasssy! I really liked their Hotchata de Morro! Really refreshing. The pupusas were great along with with plantanos. Service was great. Wasn't crowded either so that was a plus.

All the tables seemed to have people in them. Staff were consistently running food to people's tables. Since I was in the area today, I finally went in to get my chicken tamal (if you're not familiar with Salvadorean tamales, they're sooo worth a try! They're wrapped in banana leaves instead of corn and are much more soft and moist). These were $6/tamal. Kinda pricey but they are a bit bigger than most-however the size is moreso due to the amount of masa to meat ratio, which I don't mind since I do love the masa parts. I do wish their chicken was either more shredded or more flavored since some bites of chicken were on the dry side. The bites that wern't so dry were delicious though! Looking at their pics/reviews now it seems other people have tried other kinds of tamales, but I only saw one option on the menu so that's what I went with. All in all, not my absolute favorite tamales, but it hits the spot.

I have curious about pupusa after watching several YouTube video reviews. Although I have seen…read morerestaurants offering them for as so long as I can remember I must admit I have never had any. So today was my day for an adventure. I found this El Salvador Restaurant nearby has decent review albeit not many though. It looked clean and tidy. Walking in around 11:45 am to an empty dimly lit dining, a lady behind the counter greeted me and told to sit anywhere. It was warm with no air circulating as the ceiling fans weren't turned on. I mentioned to her it was my first time having pupusa so she patiently pointed several options. Complimentary chips and salsa were served. I thought the salad needed something to give it kick. I chose lunch #1 that consists of 2 pupusa, plantains, red bed beans and sour cream; separately ordered a lemonade. The drink came short afterwards. It was lemony slightly sweet. My plate came hot as it should and the accompanying coleslaw and red sauce were brought over as well. Pickled coleslaw and red sauce were added to the top of my first pupusa which as the cheese a beans. It was too hot to hold by hand so I ate it with knife and fork. It was definitely something g I never had before. A little hot sauce helped. I wish the doughy covering wasn't so overwhelming as I would appreciate the filling much more. It was the same experience for the second pupusa that was the pork, cheese and beans. Finally the fried plantains, I haven't grown to appreciate at this point and this example didn't improve my opinion, I'm hate to admit. I wasn't sure how to apply the red beans and sour cream so I dipped the plantains in them. I guess I need some guidance. On this initial visit, overall, it definitely was a good experience, service was pleasant, food was good though not sure if it was a great representation of this particular good. But I felt it was a good experience and I'm quite open to trying other dishes here.

There's actually plenty of seats inside for dine-in, but I think I've seen more take-out orders than people dining in. If dining in, I've always ordered at the register and paid first. But I've seen a few El Salvadoran customers eat then pay when they were done, so I think they get a different level of service. No big to me, just an observation. Agua Fresca ($4ish/3.5*) I saw a large glass jug up by the register that looked like a melon agua fresca. I order one but was told it was a mixed fruit version. I'm down tried it anyways. Sure there were a good amount of shredded cantaloupe which gave its summery orange hue. But there were also chunks of apple and maybe orange, so it was definitely fruity like a homemade punch. Too sweet for me tho, as I only sipped a third of it there with my meal. I brought the rest home and diluted it with more filtered water and I was able to stretch it out whilst making it more refreshing. Pupusas ($5ish/4*) I had these twice, one being a revuletas (mixed) and another time with cheese and chicharone. They are quite petite, so 1 for an app is good while 2-3 for a meal would be required. Their masa mix is nice and soft, but they don't griddle it enough for my preference. I like em well browned maybe even slightly charred on the exterior. Here they barely get them browned, so kinda like a medium rare pupusa. Lol. One time it was nice and browned but another time it was pretty pale, so it even looked kinda raw, but it wasn't. The fillings are solid, especially the ones with cheese in the middle. Their curtido and thin tomato salsa is spot on authentic, great crunch with good acidity and bold hits of oregano. So good with the warm pupusas. Platanos Fritos ($6/3.5*) Fried very ripe plantains, so the plantains are quite sweet and soft/mushy. I like bites of this to go with my entree as I like the rotating hits of savory with sweet. Very oily tho. Menudo/Sopa de Pata ($17/4.5*) Perfectly simmered tripe that were so tender and silky which I love. The pata was just 1 small piece, not crazy tender, still had some bite to it. I still love the collagen filled bites, very ethnic eating which is quite natural to me. I think I actually got the hybrid of menudo with their Sopa de Pata, cuz even tho I got a good dose of tender tripe, the broth was white-ish (no red chiles) and there were lots of veggies like sliced zuccini, cabbage, carrots, yucca and corn. Those are definitely not usually part of the menudo definition, but I welcome such veggies in a rich protein meal. I loved this bowl, with a touch more dried chiles and a squeeze of lemon, with bites of fresh thick warm corn tortillas. So filling and so satisfying. I still want to try an El Salvadoran breakfast plate and maybe a carne guisada (stewed beef) platter, so I'm sure I'll be back. Yeah buddy!

The rice is amazing ! everything is so affordable and delicious authentic salvadorian cuisine!read more

The traditional pupusa was warm and stuffed with hot, melted cheese and beans. The cheese pull was impressively long. I think there was also some shredded pork hidden in the cheese. The curtido or pickled cabbage was yummy and crunchy but more sour than I'm used to. Also got a side of fried sweet plantains. So good.
