I was immediately greeted. The restaurant was not overly busy but a decent crowd for a Monday afternoon around 4:30 pm. I was immediately asked for a drink order so being that it was before work I got the Mango Lemonade and it was delicious. I ordered a combo meal 2 Taco's with yellow rice and refried beans. I actually asked for extra cilantro & onions and they accommodated me. I was treated very well I think as long as you don't go in demanding something they tell you they can't make and you don't create a scene on a busy night, I don't think you will have any issues. I found everything wonderful & flavorful. I think if you ask for additional spiciness they would accommodate that with no issues. It is a lot easier to add more spice than to take it away. This place can eat a D. Went in on a sat night after the WVU football game, sat at the back bar. Not too busy. The lazy waiter finally comes over and doesn't seem to understand that we want to start off with drinks. My wife wants a skinny, jalepeno margarita with Casa Migos. He looks at me like I'm speaking a foreign language. Then after a little back and forth he says "we don't have that". I said it's not a matter of having it, you make the drink differently. No simple syrup or triple sec. Again he says we don't have that and then walks away while saying something in Spanish to his co worker. After about 7 minutes he is standing by the bar, I ask him "are you our waiter" he says yes so I say can you take our drink order? He meanders over and we have the same convo about the skinny jalepeno marg, I said all it is is Casa Migo, fresh lime juice, agave syrup, jalepeno and maybe a splash of soda water. He angrily goes over to the bar, retrieves a big plastic bottle of commercial margarita mix, SLAMS IT DOWN IN FRONT of me and says "this is what we have". It took all of my being to not lay this guy out on the floor. We get in to a verbal altercation and I leave. During the time my wife and I walk out my wife had left my $350 Dolce and Gabana readers on the bar. She goes back in 5 mins later after realizing that we left them there and this dlrtbag says there are no glasses here, do you want to search me? My wife again says are you sure you didn't find them left on the bar? Again he says do you want to search me? My wife walks out without the glasses. I will proceed to file a police report for theft if the manager of this place does not either send me my glasses or pay the replacement cost. They were 100% left on the bar when we left. Probably my favorite Mexican place I have ever been to. Everything from the food to the people and atmosphere is great. Had some great times here during my time at Wvu and always make sure to make a stop anytime I return. We always split a pitcher of the frozen margaritas for drinks. They have some great flavors, my favorites being mango and strawberry. You can combine them which is really good as well. They have so many good food options, but my go to is the cheesesteak burrito. The steak is tender and cooked perfectly. The cheese and ranchero sauce on top of the burrito is really what makes this dish, so creamy and flavorful. read more

Went here to eat for friends birthday tonight. When ordering I asked for a combo then for the cheese dip that the menu says it comes with. When getting the check i was charged 6 dollars for cheese dip. When asking server about it he told us that the "cheese dip" that it says comes with the menu is just cheese that comes on top of food not cheese dip. Why doesn't the menu say cheese dip and salsa ON TOP? Cheese DIP is what you DIP chips in. HORREDNOUS, APPALING, the product I received is a dismal imitation of a popular cultural dish (its shocking difficult to mess this up), and quite frankly disgusting morals. I felt taken advantage of, overcharged, laughed at and treated incredible poorly. It is unacceptable to choose to SUPPORT a business and leave with this experience. I called for a SIDE burrito to go, priced $6.49 on Grubhub (which I mentioned to the man). I asked the man on the phone what came in the burrito, he said "Whatever you want..chicken, beef, steak, beans." I asked if I could have eggs and beans with cheese. He asked what else and I replied avocado if possible. He told me, "Great, it will be ready in 15 minutes". When I arrive to pick up my bean, egg, cheese and avocado burrito, I was told that it is $23 for a JUMBO burrito. I said I didn't understand, I ordered the SIDE burrito and was then informed that because of the "size" of the ingredients and the "chips and salsa" it was going to be $23. I was shocked and told them how I was incredibly uncomfortable and unaware of the "upcharges" while placing my order. The entire time the man stood there and smirked as I fumbled with my words, SHOOK at this atrocity. A California burrito is priced $17 on the menu and is filled with steak, avocado slices and cheese. Steak and Eggs is $23. How is it that a burrito of simply eggs, beans, cheese, and avocado is $23 dollars. There was nothing mentioned on the phone about an upcharge for the avocado ($6 which was rang in as guacamole?!), the upcharge for the "JUMBO" burrito, the upcharge for "EXTRA CHEESE DIP" (I asked for CHEESE), the upcharge for the chips and salsa I received, or even the cost in general. If there is going to be SUBSTANTIAL upcharges, as a guest of an establishment, I have ALWAYS been informed of them and it is my EXPECTATION. To make matters worse, the burrito was smothered in cheese, the avocado was in the burrito, and because of the jumbo size of the tortilla, the burrito was flimsy and 90% tortilla rather than stuffing. If I am going to pay $23 for a burrito, it better be so stuffed to the brim so that it will take me 2 or 3 meals to eat it in full. The burrito I received is honestly a JOKE- the eggs (they came scrambled, not what I was expecting given the items offered on the menu, but okay) were BURNT, the beans over salted and combined with the salt from the cheese made it inedible. HOW?! I come from a family of restaurateus and worked as a waitress for MANY years and never in my wildest dreams or worst moments could I, or anyone in my family, DREAM of treating their GUESTS this way. Oh, did I mention I placed my order at 11:05 and it was not busy when I picked up my order. LOL As a Hispanic and having grown up in Morgantown, I have gone back and forth on if I could and should support this business. CHECK YOUR CREDIT CARD/BANK ACCOUNTS We contacted Los Mariachis when our bank was charged more than the bill. Initially the Manager admitted the ticket appeared to be altered, but when I asked for waiters name, he stated he had to call the business office to get that information and would call back in an hour. When that call never came, I called him back and then his story changed that it was a clerical error and although he could refund my bill, if I needed any further info I would need to call Heather at the business office. When I spoke to Heather, she informed me it wasn't their policy to give out employee information or copies of tickets, and reiterated the clerical error story, and claimed she saw the ticket and it wasn't edited. Long story short if I wanted any additional documentation I should get a court order to get a copy of it. Although we haven't yet decided on pressing criminal charges, I will be sharing the experience with all social media rating platforms so that customers will be made aware of this type of behavior at Los Mariachis, and managements refusal to cooperate by simply providing proof that the receipt wasn't tampered with without a court order to do so. If there was nothing to hide, It would have been very easy to snap a photo of the unaltered ticket, for our peace of mind and the integrity of their waiter and the restaurant. The fact that they refused only makes them look guilty. For the record, as someone who spent many years working in the service industry, it is not our practice to leave low tips. We always leave 20% for the most basic service, but if we are treated poorly, it will be reflected in the gratuity. In this case, the waiter was left a $1 tip for acting exceptionally rude and I'm sure he wasn't pleased. But despite management claims, it is our belief that the waiter, changed the tip to $5.49. not only because it is just too different from $1.00 to be a simple typo, but it was exactly 15% of the bill. That is too much of a coincidence to be a clerical error. Even IF it was the cashier and the waiter was given $5.49 instead of $1.00, he would have known that money was coming from the customer's card that didn't authorize that amount and by not correcting the error with the cashier, he was still stealing it. He should have corrected it before taking the card back to the table, but still, that is the best-case scenario! ---- MY ADVICE: IF YOU HAVE RECENTLY or INTEND TO PATRONIZE LOS MARIACHIS at either location * Make note of your waiters name (and description) * Take a photograph of the merchant copy with your signature and the tip amt before giving it over to the wait staff * Follow up with your financial institution for any discrepancies * FILE A REPORT WITH THE POLICE DEPARTMENT! * Contact the restaurant and DEMAND a refund Let them know you know this isn't the first time this has been reported! This is CRIME and you are a VICTIM OF FRAUD! It is called UNLAWFUL/FRAUDULENT USE OF A FINANCIAL TRANSACTION DEVICE and it is a felony offense * If this has happened to you or happens to you. It's a bit better than alright. Being the starving and poor college student, I appreciated the free chips and salsa. There's a slight spice to the salsa which was A+ (just a tingle) and the chips were fresh. I got the "special texas" which consisted of a chimichanga and quesadilla rellano. The cheese on the chimi was "mmm" worthy. Otherwise, it was a little more on the bland side. The chili habenero sauce fixed that though. The staff was attentive and accommodating. My second Morgantown review goes to Los Mariachis. The best place to get queso-wasted in the city. If you don't get the white cheese dip, then don't even come. We went back after a few years and it's mostly the same. It's more crowded, especially on game days, but the wait is never too long for parties of two. I'm going to recommend anything that touches the dip. I'm a fan of the house special, which is shredded beef wrapped in a tortilla and covered.. no smothered in liquid cheese. It's heaven with each bite. The serving staff is helpful and are always apologetic for any inconveniences. They are just nice people who love their job. This is by far my favorite restaurant in Morgantown and a must visit for anyone who loves slightly unhealthy food. read more

Three solid star means the food was ok. I will not be returning because the service was dismal and I mean just that, dismal service and mediocre food, not what you want your Saturday afternoon to be. We were taken to our table immediately,good sign i thought . Once we got our chips and the waiter took our orders we waited patiently for our meals. Once the meals came to the table we were not checked on again. I even asked the waiter who dropped off our meals if you could please bring us some more chips he nodded and said sure ma'am I didn't see him again. The food was mediocre and that is being nice. It wasn't nasty and it wasn't something that I thought was just over-the-top delicious it was just mediocre the prices were two battles I wasn't all that upset that the food wasn't great. My wife and friend and I wanted to love this place, but we had too many issues for our first visit to prevent us from coming back that I'll list below. 1. Small soft drink selection and it cost $3.25 for a soft drink...nearly the same price as draft beer! Maybe that's not too crazy since you get refills but... 2. Service was so slow that we barely got refills. Also was hard to find waiter to get napkins, straws, etc. 3. Salsa was good, chips typical but more cold/stale 4. Food came out all at different times. Only 3 people at our table. Wife's food came out first, then 5 minutes later came my buddies beef fajitas (not steaming or hot, which was so weird since I saw multiple fajitas being delivered around us that seemed hot. I think they forgot about his), and then came my shrimp tacos 3 minutes later. 5. Came here for lunch again with my family. We were sliding on the floor when we walked in. They had just opened and someone left soapy, greasy water all over the tile. I had to hold on to tables while walking to the bathroom. Extremely dangerous! I had a margarita which was decent for the price of $5.50. My meal was extremely bland and I had to ask for hot sauce. Literally no taste at all. The chips and salsa were good like always and I asked twice for lemon in my water and was never brought it. I also had to ask several times for a refill of ice water and was brought a second cup as I was paying the bill. Very odd the wait staff are. Stopped here since we were nearby. We were wanting to go to the Mediterranean place nearby, but they close the kitchen at 6. I guess since this was a basketball game night the place was crowded. That means the food is good. We arrived shortly after 6 and had no problems being seated, but we did have to wait a bit for service. The menu has a lot to offer, so I guess the waiting time was a good thing. Love the guacamole with the chips! I ordered a combo meal, and my friend ordered carnitas. Both were excellent! I wasn't disappointed in our meals. I ended up with leftovers, so never a bad thing. Never thought to take a pic since we dove right into our food when it arrived. Like I said, service was super slow, but our server was polite. I can see why the place is crowded since the food is excellent (and because they're slow). Los Mariachis is a classic American-Mexican restaurant, that delivers consistent food. Can't go wrong with their fresh chips and in house salsa, that is a blended variety. Chunky or chunkier salsa would be a nice change.. but it's Los Mariachis. This is the place to come, for a margarita or beer, and eat your favorite Mexican food. There is another Mexican restaurant over by university town center. This is the better of the two restaurants, even though the other one is newer. Better customer service here too. Food was standard American-Mexican food. Service was mediocre, but the food came out fast. The flan is an absolute disappointment! Overcooked and hard. Tasted ok, but the consistency made it difficult to stomach. I mentioned it to the waiter and he looked at me like I was crazy. I specifically ate here to have some flan for dessert, but it turned out to be a waste of my time and money. Flan is supposed to be smooth, not hard with bubbles in it. read more

I have been coming here since I was a freshman at WVU in 2003. And every time I come back to visit Motown... stopping here is a requirement! Many, many of my birthday celebrations have happened here.
