We went here to grab some Mexican food for the Mexico v England World Cup match. Turns out I was actually trying to visit the restaurant next door but ended up ordered a few things from this spot anyway! It sits in the back of a market and the serving sizes were quite generous. The tacos in particular are massive. The tortillas were not my favorite but the carne asada was quite tasty. My son also liked his chicken quesadilla but the it wasn't regular pollo asado and seemed to be some type of chicken stew instead. We stopped by to buy some dried hominy and picked up some carne asada nachos as well. As a small meat market, it's fairly clean and has a decent assortment of pantry staples. Since there is no place to dine, we had to get the food to go and the nacho/chips were a bit soggy by the time we got home. The carne asada was tasty but a bit on the salty side. HAVE TO SHARE!! OMG! This brand of flour tortillas is my #1 favorite! This tortilla brand is so addicting! Soft, very pliable, and just delicious! It has no lard and its color is a tad yellow-ish. I have never seen this brand anywhere else besides this market and takeout in Lawndale. I bought one of each of these packs to try each one and I LOVE IT!!! If you come here, try their daily lunch special that is served all day long. It's two bean and cheese burritos with chips and salsa with a can of soda (Coke products) for $7.50. I come here to buy meat when I have a bbq. The prices are very competitive and the butcher are so nice! I love coming here because of the service. I usually park in the front but I recently found out that they have parking in the back of the store. I totally recommend giving this place a try for your next bbq! read more

Los Jaliscienses is amazing. It's a market, carniceria, and take-out spot all in one. To order, go straight to the check out counter and order (on your immediate left hand side when you first walk in). Go browse the store or just hang out for a few minutes and they'll holler when it's ready. I've only had the half red/green super deluxe wet burrito and chicken hard tacos (so far) but the food is amazing. Your entree will come with chips and little cups of salsa. I would compare the menu at Los Jaliscenses to El Burrito Jr if they didn't suck. I have very fond memories of LBJ's and have eaten my body weight worth of the Special C but let's be honest with ourselves. Think about your grandma who has dementia but can't help saying mean things to you these days and it's tough spending time with her--you still admire, respect, and love her don't you? You don't just throw out a lifetime of great memories together just because things have changed so of course you still go visit grandma/LBJs. But the food here at Los Jalisciences is for Mexicans, by Mexicans and that is reflected in the amazing taste and good prices. This place was recommended by our Handy Man who is Mexican and said that if we want authentic Mexican Food, this is one of the places you have to put on your list. I went that very evening and got a variety of tacos and a burrito along with both medium and the spicy salsas. It is a kitchen inside of a market and anyone from the street may not know about this place just like I wasn't. The Spanish Rice is sold by soda cup sizes and actually put in the soda cup when you pick it up. Another tip our Handy Man suggested was to order over the phone in advance because it takes a little while to make or you can order and shop for groceries while waiting. I parked just in front on Hawthorne Blvd which is a busy street so be careful of fast passing cars when you open the drivers side door. They offer delivery services by all the major ones. Not a sit down place but more for pick up or delivery. Prices are very reasonable especially in this economy and it's good to support local businesses. read more

This is my neighborhood I used to go every week at least three times as in my son I told to order me beef shank but in Spanish it's a different name but as they got confused and they give him rice I went back to the store to claim my money and they said can I give it to me that's fine I just don't want to rice here you go and I order $20 of beef shank in Spanish is chamorro de res but if you don't understand the kid at least send them back with his money to ask again I didn't like the attitude that you're supervisor or lead give me I was nice and polite and I told her I just don't want the rice I can picture the receipt and I'll put you on. I happened upon this place scrolling through food for delivery when I had a craving for chile rellenos and crunchy tacos. I decided to take a chance on this place and man, am I glad I did. We got a few things for the family - super deluxe burrito with al pastor, crunchy tacos with shredded beef, chile rellenos, sopes with carne asada, rice and beans, and chips and salsa. The burritos are enormous and stuffed to the brim, and the al pastor has a pleasant smoky flavor. This wasn't my favorite, but my husband devoured it. The crunchy tacos are full of flavorful and tender shredded beef, and have a good shell with all the fixings (lettuce, cheese, tomatoes). The sopes were alright, again the meat was really flavorful and beans on them really tasty. Rice and beans are standard fare. The standout, by far, was the chile rellenos. Full of fresh ranchero cheese and egg battered to perfection. Don't skip the chips and salsa either, the chips came fresh fried and still warm. Absolutely fell in love with this little gem. My friend just moved into this area and I was struggling to find something that had all of my Mexicans spices. Ralph's seems to be clearing out their international section but I pulled these guys up on yelp and it made my heart jump. They have so many things that are hard to find at traditional American markets. I got some chocolate that called my name out with it scent.
