Today was the first time going to this restaurant to try out their food and the service wasn't the best. The gentleman that took my order put in for the wrong item. I was very specific and said I didn't want the taquitos that I wanted taco Dorados, which is hardshell tacos and he still put in the order for taquitos so I had to wait for what I first requested. The Carne Asada fries that I ordered are pretty good. I do recommend that they use a little bit more seasoning to their food as it tasted a little bland to me.I will not be ordering their beef again because it was very dry on the tacos. BEWARE! They serve rocks in their beans! Do not eat here! Negligence is the word to describe Los Jalapeños. Los Jalapeños failed to filter their beans for rocks and I broke 3 teeth. This place has cost me thousands of dollars in dental work because of pure ignorance and negligence. I ate a spoonful of beans and there were rocks inside the beans. I was browsing the selection in this shopping center when I spotted this spot, what could go wrong. Walk in and it smells a little funky but I ignored it. Order myself a California Burrito. People at register are nice but that's not what I'm here for, I'm here for the food. Open up the packaging and take a bite of my burrito...horrible. Burrito falling apart, carne asada is all squishy, I don't even think it's considered carne asada. It looked like ground beef. I took a couple more bites and said that is enough. Now for the food. I ordered the #3 plate. 3 chicken taqueria with rice and beans. It was good but needed a bit more flavor in the rice. Also a fish taco. They have daily specials which is why I chose this item. $1.50 on Thursday's. For some reason the lady said it was going to be regular menu price of $2.25 instead. I wanted one so I didn't ask why. I've been a patron for this establishment for years...love the food...I even frequent the one in Rancho...just went at 7:50...on Yelp it has them listed at 830 closing...I pulled in watched an elderly couple walk out as I was heading in a young gentleman turned the sign off in a hurry an proceeded to mop right in from of the doors. Mind you it's still only 7:52...I open the door which you'd figured would be locked since they were apparently closed...the guy rudely said I needed to leave and they are closed...I said the hours say your open..he said nope and proceeded to push the mop in front of me...so my daughter and I left...So I went back. My boyfriend and I came here this morning he ordered a matchaca and eggs and I ordered chilaquiles. Restaurant was pretty empty we were the only ones ordering. When I ordered my plate I asked if it has pieces of onions in it. The cook who was at the front to take the order answered that they can make it without onions so I said perfect and carried on with payment. Within this time they had already asked two or three times if it was for dine in or take out. We answered take out every time. Another question asked multiple times was if my boyfriend wanted corn or flour tortillas and that question we answered the same every time. We asked for flour in-fact we ordered and paid for extra flour tortillas. Our order finished quickly and we drove home. When opening my plate and digging for my first bite I notice big pieces of onions. At this time my boyfriend realized he got corn tortillas and not flour. I grabbed my plate and the tortillas and drove back to the restaurant. At letting them know the problems the cashier looks at the plate and says she doesn't see onions I grabbed a spoon and lifted the food to show all the onions. She then said " the sauce to make this plate is made with onions" "we cook everything here with onions. " I then said " that would have been a great piece of information to give when I asked if this plate comes with onions at the initial order" "I do not like onions that is the reason I ask at ordering if onions come in the plate to eliminate plate returns". I then brought up to their attention the wrong type of tortillas the cook was more understanding but the cashier was more argumentative. I think it be in their best interest to pay attention to questions and orders a little bit better. I then had to order something else. I left and took it home and let me tell you if I knew it was going to be that gross I would not have ordered anything different and would have just got my money back. The rice tasted sour and the beans tasted burnt. I then had to throw it all out I didn't want to get sick my boyfriend had already thrown his away. A solid go-to place for my chicken enchilada suiza fix. I have made my husband a believer. He has never been one to go outside of his comfort zone, his go-to spots for food. This definitely puts the pressure on for me. I'm pleasantly surprised that he'll now, on occassion, suggest Los Jalapenos on a whim. For one, the menu itself is a great deal. You get close to a dozen of various combos for your choosing all for the same price; chicken enchiladas, chile relleno, soft or crunch tacos, chile verde, etc. Your choice of entree includes a side of rice and beans and drink too. Don't forget your horchata with your meal! Two, the hubster really enjoys their california burrito. Be sure to get it wet, he's says! My kiddo loves their "orange rice" and they have a decent condiment/salsa bar for the killing. They also carry mexican coke and sangrial senorial - childhood favorites of mine. Some disappointments along the way, however were chewy machaca (stredded beef), and a sad looking, disproportionate fish taco. Other than that, a satisfying meal for under $15, plus 50 cents if using plastic.
