Plate that comes with fajitas. Tomatoes in the pico did not taste fresh.
Sonia S.

We had a large party and were split, some sat at a nearby table. The service was not very good, never got a refill on my water, nor were we asked if everything was good. The menu prices online are different than in the restaurant. By the time some peoples food came out others were done eating. I ordered fajitas, the beans and rice were brought to me well before the actual tortillas. The tomatoes in the pico did not taste fresh. The flour tortillas were not good and the beef for the fajitas has a weird taste and was chewy. Three people in the party got the camarones con mango, the smell of mango was strong at the table--very sweet. Only one of the three was truly satisfied with that dish. One person ordered a enchilada and tamale saying that they didnt like the sauce it was swimming in, that it tasted like watered down tomato soup. They do not accommodate dietary restrictions, so if you have any...ask in detail about what you require. I know it all sounds very negative. The rice and beans were decent. The tables and chairs are nicely painted. It just wasnt for us, well most of our party anyhow.

We came here to celebrate birthdays and the owner Teresa was so kind! She had all of the birthday people wear a giant sombrero and take pictures and she sang happy birthday with us. She gave my sister a nice Los Dos Hermanos tumbler as a gift. There was complementary chips and salsas out when we arrived, The food was delicious, and service was great. Such a nice little place!

We've eaten here several times over the last couple of years. They've updated the inside and the patio. Nice atmosphere and very friendly staff! The chips are light, thin, crispy and the salsa is spicy. My favorite dish is the Polla al a Crema! The tortillas are delicious! Even the rice and beans get kudos from me. I always enjoy my entire meal and will continue to support Theresa (owner) and her business! We even take guests, visiting here from out of town, and we haven't had anyone disappointed.

They have Mountain Dew!

I had some pork papusas that were great. I love their rice--the texture is perfect. My wife had some shrimp that was wrapped in bacon. She said it was wonderful. They seemed a bit under-staffed. The staff was great.

This is by far our favorite Mexican Restaurant place nearby. Great chips salsa, margaritas, and excellent Salvadorian food.

The service can be a little hit or miss. One of the servers sometimes seems to be operating in slow mode and things get forgotten here and there. I honestly can't tell if he's just a forgetful fella or what, but everyone is always super friendly, so we roll with it. Last time I decided to venture away from my usual pupusas and tried the tacos poblanos, and they were delicious! I'm glad I switched it up because I'd absolutely order them again. Overall, the food is great, the people are friendly, and we keep coming back just with a little patience sometimes.

After about 30 minutes asked the other server if she could take our order. She gladly did and the food came out piping hot and super tasty. I failed to take a picture. I got the chimichanga with chicken filling and ate between one-third and half before getting full. Guacamole was fresh and had just the right creamy texture. Black beans were also a nice smooth creamy texture and with a good depth of flavor. The rice was the typical red-orange rice. I would definitely return. If you are downtown Salem looking for Mexican and have time this is a good contender.

The woman who took my order was really nice, but I don't think she should have been taking orders. Even with me being bilingual and her daughter helping translate, she had a hard time understanding what I wanted, even though I was reading it directly from their menu. The wait time was short. Everything was fresh. The pupusa dough, the veggies, the toppings-- I loved everything except the chicken, which tasted like it had been boiled or canned at some point. But that's my fault for ordering chicken from a Latino food cart, knowing they sometimes take these chicken shortcuts. The salsa and queso fresco were both bomb. 5 stars on both of those. The portion size was a decent value for the price. It was too much food for me to eat in just one sitting. If I came back again, I would order literally any meat other than chicken. I might even ask how it's cooked first, just to be sure. Overall I thought it was pretty good, and I would definitely come back again. (I just wouldn't get the chicken.)

Cal.), one food my family was missing was pupusas. Finding this place was what we needed. We ordered pupusas and an order of empanadas. We used the online option of DinDin. It's a little "hole in the wall" place, which in my book, has the highest chance of having great tasting, authentic food. And this place fit that perfectly. When ordering through DinDin, you select a time for the pick up. That was good since it was a little over a twenty minute drive for us. We arrived a few minutes early from the pick up time so we hung out at the front, checked out the printed menu. The place smelled delicious! There were only a few folks sitting in the booths there. It is a small space inside. The staff there were nice and welcoming. We only waited for a couple minutes and then our food was ready. Once we got home, we tore into those pupusas. In fact, I ate them so fast, I forgot to take pictures to be used for this review! Lol The food was HOT. Even after our drive back home. We ordered various pupusas and based on each of us, a big THUMBS UP! I loved the flavor of the salsa. And the curtido was crunchy and flavorful. The empanadas were delicious and we made sure to eat them while they were still warm. Loved the mix of flavors with this little treat. We will return to this place the next time we crave pupusas! Or I think we'll have the Salvadoran tamales. Or one of the sopas. Geez, it's hard to decide. Give this place a try. Support your small businesses. And appreciate the delicious food originating from the beautiful country of El Salvador.

However, I wish it was bigger considering they charged $16+. We very much enjoyed the bean and cheese pupusas that were fulfilling enough to have 1 for each person. We ordered 3 and the cabbage was enough for 2 people. I recommend ordering extra if your 3rd person wants some as well. The place appeared clean and the workers were kind. Despite the cashier accidentally charging more and the price of it being higher than other spots we have been to, I would say you pay for the quality of the food. Other items can be overcharged (i.e a small fountain drink was $7).

This is not the case of Sivar's.... I've been coming to this small hole in the wall, in a middle of a busy Central American mall, next to Super Mercado in Hillsboro and I am keeping it to my heart. There is this amazing strong woman who is an angel in the kitchen! I have been trying her pupusas since she opened her place.... amazingly delicious and honestly prepared, right there, in front of you. I have been drinking her Atol de Elote and I love it... no milk. Horchata is amazing, no milk, just rice cinnamon water sugar and morro fruit. I'm talking about Salvadoran horchata here, not the milk infused Mexican stuff. Please, don't get me wrong, the Mexican horchata is delicious but the milk, it kills me, especially the condensed milk. What else? Caldo de res, beef soup. Holly smokes! Do you want beef soup that you eat it with a spoon? No need to cut your beef with a knife, because the meat was so tender and deliciously blended. Her work team and her efforts are incredible; this is my secret spot when I want to eat like a human, no industrial food here!
