We drove in from Oregon. Stop here and had a tasty early dinner. The salsa and bean dip were so satisfying that I could have made a meal of them and chips. The bean dip was divine. My husband ordered a beef tostada and I had the chicken tostada. They came with beans and rice. The chicken was the right amount of spice. The restaurant is located in a parking lot shared by a few other businesses just a few minutes off of i-5. The inside can fit about 50 people and is brightly decorated with authentic Mexican artwork. The service was friendly and attentive, and the food was good. I had a birria and chicken al carbon taco. I thought both tasted pretty good. Neither were spicy and each had well seasoned meat. The consome is a must for the birria. My girlfriend got the nachos and I was pretty jealous of those because they looked great. read more

We are traveling from the Bay Area to Mount Shasta for a Glamping trip and, Wow! We were so fortunate to find this gem of a Mexican restaurant in Corning. We didn't was to eat the regular rest-stop fast food, and I am glad we took a chance and tried this. The beans were delicious, I took a picture after we devoured 2 plates of them. We ordered the mango habanero aguachile (amazing), ceviche de pescado & camarón tostadas (delicious), the appetizer coconut shrimp (yummy), the carne asada burrito (super good, it could have had more asada, but honestly their beans are so delicious it didn't matter), to finish off our son ordered the churro dessert... just look at the picture. Yes, it was as amazing as it looks, the perfect crunch and sweetness. The service was attentive and fast. The ambience was quiet, good for families, couples, and singles. Don't judge the restaurant by its outside worn out appearance. We are picky with our Mexican food, and this was authentic and delicious. The best part it was too salty or too spicy!! my gal ordered the tamale and it was tamale perfection... just the right the amount masa and the meat was very generous compared to most tamales. The food was okay. I got asada fries and they weren't that good. the chips tasted old, and the rice tastes old. The service was okay, the server came by once. The tables weren't being cleaned consistently as people were leaving, so leftover food sat on the tables around us the whole time we were in there. read more

As soon as I stepped inside Los Costenos I was greeted with a complex scent prominent with cinnamon and clove, apparently the lingering aroma of another diner's chicken mole. Seafood is the featured specialty though, with 6 or 8 varied shrimp dishes, and grilled Octopus with your choice of sauces. Meal prices are average, but the menu does include tacos a la carte, a very budget-friendly and enticing option. My son had chicken tacos with beans and rice, as he always does, which he enjoyed. I ordered the carnitas which was tasty but a little dry, and wished I had opted for the octopus after all. Next time Pupa for sure. read more

We went her for lunch and the food and service were excellent. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and efficient. I was so impressed that the food came out so quickly, in fact we were only half way through our chips and salsa. We ordered the chicken fajitas and carna asada fries, both were amazing. There were a lot of fun and delicious sauces on the table which was fun to experiment with. A lot of the negative reviews on here talk about their lack of sanitary conditions, we did not experience this at all. The pace was clean and there were no flies. My daughter and I decided to go on a whirlwind taco tasting and hit a bunch of restaurants in Corning and Red Bluff. Los Costeños was the best all around. The place is beautiful, with sunflowers painted everywhere, the bean dip and salsa offering immediately after you sit down was delicious and unexpected, and the tacos themselves were soooo good. I got the pastor and carne asada, Kaya the chicken asada....they came with roasted jalapeños, cooked onions and lime and orange slices (the presentation was so thoughtful) and the meat was so flavorful. Just a great experience. A reason to go to Corning! read more

At first I came here and tried to maybe ignore that the women there are so rude. The restaurant is beautiful really caught my eye, but the lady who took my order was giving me really weird evil looks, and looked at me as if I was bothering, buy coming to sit down to eat a meal there. I tried to ignore it. They waited at least 5 minutes to come and attend me. Or to bring me anything to drink. Didn't come offer me any more water the whole time I was there. Or checked if everything was okay. Just kept rolling there eyes disrespectfully. And I said my please and thank you, and did not receive any response. Oh my goodness. We stopped here famished on our way back to Canada and really enjoyed our lunch. The service was great and the food delicious. My hubby had shredded beef burrito lunch special which was so huge he couldn't eat it all. I had two tacos - grilled shrimp and grilled fish. Both fresh and full of veggies. There is some magic ingredient in the refried beans and rice. They're outstanding. Go and see them! The restaurant is very cute to boot - sunflowers are painted everywhere! read more

Place is very small and the table we sat at wobbled really bad. Couldn't fix the wobble because the bolts under the table were loose. Usually a napkin under one of the legs would help, but it didn't. Service was really slow but to their credit they were really busy. The waitresses were very nice. Because they were busy we thought that had to be a good thing, however, we were wrong. My wife ordered nachos and they came out cold. Cheese was out of a can and had zero flavor. How can you screw up nachos? I ordered the chicken taco special. As I took a bite, grease dripped out of the taco onto the plate. It was disgusting and has no flavor whatsoever. The rice was cooked well but it was also bland. The refried beans were dry and so overcooked they stuck to the plate. I didn't eat them. My mother in law ordered a fajita quesadilla that in her words was "just ok". I had high hopes given the good reviews, but with so many other options in town we won't be going back. I wish them luck! read more

Food is well served and service is good, this place needs a good cleaning. If you don't mind the 12 flies on the wall waiting for food to be served you'll be ok. This place would be busy if it was cleaned up and maybe given a facelift, feels like a dinner from the 70's.
