Great arepas and Magical Pineapple Piña Coladas While driving down the street, hungry and tired in need of food and drink, I came upon this little food stand that serves arepas and the famous homegrown drink piña colada. They remove the pineapple core and throw it into the blender and start making your piña colada, using the pineapple as a drinking container. It's pure deliciousness and you need one, if you ever find yourself in San Juan. You'll love the arepas and look fabulous walking around with this kinda piña colada. The vibe was easy breezy and fun. The service was amazing, friendly, warm and welcoming, you'll love this place.

We dined at Los Chamos Arepas for lunch this week in San Juan, PR. It was good! Just a hole in the wall, very narrow space, with very loud music (which they turned down on request! LOL). We tried a beef arepas and a chicken cachapa (a thick torta-like dough, folded over in half)(see pics). The meal was served with cilantro and garlic cream sauces/aiolis. The meats were tasty and the cheeses good. The cilantro and garlic cream was a great combo. The staff were friendly, helpful and very patient explaining the menu! Recommend you stop by for a quick bite!

Visited the island the week of January 16, 2023, this was one of our first stops! Small eatery located on the main strip in the Condado area. If you're looking for glitz and glamour, this is not the place for you. If you like hot, fresh food for lunch or a quick snack....you won't be disappointed!! Empanadas, Arpeas, Cachapas and more! Have a cold beer or frosty drink, with or without alcohol and you will be satisfied till dinner time. We both had an arepa one with beef/platano, the other beef/cheese. We made sure to have plenty of napkins nearby. The savoy beef had just enough greasy goodness to enhance the flavor. Two perfectly made Pina Colada's with alcohol (albeit not enough), completed our meal. With all the delicious flavors the Island has to offer, this chain is a must try! Buen Provecho!

I was walking down the Condado strip on Ashford Avenue and was getting really hungry. I spotted Los Chamos Arepas and thought I would give it a try. Small shop with street vendors appeal and vibes. They had a nice selection and tons of fresh options. I went with a beef and two beef and cheese. They have limited seating, maybe three or four stools along the side wall. No disappointments and even grabbed a seat and enjoyed them there. They came with sour cream and a guacamole type dip/spread. They were Best Empanadas I have eaten! I recommend the Beef & Cheese empanadas . They are perfect for a grab-n-go if you want to grab something to eat while you are walking. They do not take American Express but accept most major cards and cash.

Show don't tell. I ate here 3 times in one trip, two of those times in the same day. I had tried Los Chamos on a previous trip to San Juan and initially was disappointed when I thought they closed (on Calle Loiza). I was elated to realize they had another location in Condado by my hotel. The arepas here are so good my friends took them to go to take home (until we got stopped by USDA in the airport and we ate them on the spot to not waste them) I've been thinking about these arepas for two years and needed to show my husband. Once he took his first bite, he said it was in the top of the things he tried during our trip to Puerto Rico. Absolutely get anything with sweet plantain in it. Whether it's the Pabellón Camarón arepa (Shrimp, black beans, sweet plantain and cheese) or the vegana arepa (Black beans, sweet plantain, avocado), these were my go to's each time. I appreciated this place is walking distance from Condado beach so you can grab your food to go and enjoy on the beach. The wait is about 10-15 min depending on what type of arepa you're ordering, but it was well worth the wait to get that freshly made arepa with crispy outside and the fresh ingredients inside. The last time we went there they ran out of shrimp so keep that in mind when deciding to go early or late! This was also the perfect late night eat as they're open late each day. Love it and you know I'll be back (again)

Delicious food and friendly service. We were looking for gluten free options for my wife and found it here. Portions were huge, piña coladas were amazing. Highly recommended!

We arrived at 11am on a Monday because that's when we thought they opened. They actually opened at 11:30am, so we were 2nd in line at 11am. Once 11:30am rolled around, the line was very long. It's an old house that was transformed into a restaurant. It's pretty big in there and they have an upstairs as well. It really feels like you're eating in a Caribbean home, from the colorful tablecloth to the things on the tables. The menu is on a board, and they have a Spanish and English version. They give you a cup of complimentary plantain soup which was amazing. We also ordered the fried cheese app which came with a delicious guava sauce. For mains, I had the fried pork with tostones and my husband had the mamposteado (corned beef, fried eggs, and rice). My husband cleaned his plate, while I took leftovers back to the hotel (which we actually ate later because it was that good). They were out of tres leches that day, so we had the coconut pudding for dessert. It was my first time trying coconut pudding and it did not disappoint! For drinks, we had the passionfruit sangria. When we left, there was a very long line outside. Despite the line, they did not rush us out. Definitely recommend and would go out of my way to come back next time I'm in PR.

There are so many spots that are authentic and incredible, but La Casita Blanca stands out in its own lane. It's gotten more popular and touristy over the years, but that's because they've stayed true to who they are. The authenticity here hasn't changed, and that's exactly why people keep coming. This is the kind of place where the menu brings you right back to your upbringing. You'll find dishes like corned beef, tostones con bacalao, and other classics that just hit differently. And the vibe? It feels like family. Someone who looks like your aunt might be cooking your food, your cousin might be serving it, and everyone treats you like you belong there. Food-wise, everything we had was fire. One of the people I was with is basically an "aguacateologist," and even he said it was one of the best he's ever had. That alone says a lot. Chuletas fried to a perfect golden crisp. The pollo fricasé (pollo guisado, if you know, you know) was on point and even came in a little pot that made it feel extra homey. Arroz con gandules? Off the hook!!!! And to top it all off, they had salsa playing in the background... which honestly had me sold the moment I walked in. Disclaimer/Warning; There will be a line!!! And if you're lucky enough to get a table, sit back and enjoy every second of it.

They also have drink options that our server listed to us. To start, we ordered the lobster empanadas and sangria. The empanadas were delicious! Very tasty and fresh. The sangria however, was not great. It just tasted like juices that don't really work together. I couldn't taste the wine. We ordered the roasted pork and skirt steak. The steak was really tasty, and juicy. But the roasted pork was very dried and hard. It had some good bits in it but there were quite a few pieces that were too cooked to eat. The rice and beans were cooked very well. This is the perfect place for quick local food where you won't spend too much. But if you want a very high quality, I would choose elsewhere.

My son had the churrasco (skirt steak) and it was excellent. We ordered sides of amarillos (sweet plantains) and they were the best ones we had the trip -- soft, juicy, with caramelized exterior. We wanted tres leches for dessert, but it sold was sold out. If you only had one "typical" PR dinner, I would suggest Bebo's.
