Drinks delivered quickly and orders taken. In the meantime, let's enjoy warm chips with refried beans and salsa. All were flavorful and nicely done. Orders taken included carne asada, fajitas, and cheese covered burrito. The food came out very quickly and was surprising considering a packed house. Asada and fajita beef both reported to be perfectly done but lacking seasoning. Cheese covering burrito was fantastic and refried beans a bit runny but full of flavor. Wait staff was very timely all the while working their tail off. Certainly a professional here. Prices are fair. Portions were good. Nothing negative to report. Overall, listen to Yelp! and check this place out.

Vegetables are vegan if you ask for them to be sautéed in oil, otherwise it's margarine which may or may not have dairy in it. Refried beans were vegan, as is, no lard in them Corn tortillas were good to go. Not a lot of options, but nice that there were some! Our server was really helpful - even though we were a pain with all our questions, LOL We were brought out chips with salsa and a bean dip which had cheese in it, so that didn't work, but once we got that figured out, it was smooth sailing. The inside is nicely decorated and makes it very homey.

They brought chips and salsa as well as a bean/cheese dip that was very tasty. We split the Santa Fe Chicken - grilled breast with sautéed peppers, onions, mushrooms and tomatoes covered in cheese sauce. Rice and beans also came with the dish. It was all very delicious and the service was quick with friendly staff. The ambiance was typical mexican. Cute and colorful. Our entire meal was $14.81 plus tip.

They have several TVs around the restaurant, and was showing the World Cup and news at the time. They weren't very busy at lunchtime. We were seated immediately and received their complementary chips, salsa and a cheese/bean dip combo. After that the service got slow. It took a while for our server to come, he took our drink orders and when he returned one was wrong. Then he didn't return for a while to take our food order. Maybe he was preoccupied with the World Cup? Once we received our food the dishes were very good, but not great. Typical food flavors that most Mexican restaurants have. However, the portions were very large. Note that they don't offer the lunch menu on weekends, so you have to order dinner-sized portions. The chicken and steak fajitas were good and I certainly didn't leave hungry. It came with rice and beans, which were as usual at most Mex. restaurants. The wife enjoyed her beef, chicken and bean enchilada supreme meal, but the cheese enchilada wasn't good. The enchilada sauce was good but not great. The short story is the ambience was average, the service was hit or miss, the food was good but not great, and the dinner portion sizes are large. We may visit again sometime but aren't in any rush. It would be nice if they offered the lunch menu on weekends during lunch hours.

Others, like me, rate them like the Westminster Dog Show: how does this Great Dane compare to others? How does this Bulldog compare? Only the finalist is compared across breeds. So if you are like my sons from Texas and compare it to the awesome Tex Mex near the border, you will be disappointed. But, I was raised in these mountains and compared to my expectations of an east Tennessee taqueria - it was wonderful. It exceeded my expectations of a quick taco joint in the foothills of the Appalachians. We were driving thru to visit relatives in Virginia and arrived just about closing. Which happened to be 7:30. They were gracious enough to sit us down and serve us even though I'm sure they wanted to go home. The chips were solid and the salsa was not spicy at all. I'm sure they target for their audience. I recommend using ketchup if you want something spicier. I went with the Chicken enchilada rojas. Basically, chicken in a red sauce. I was pleasantly surprised with the flavorful chicken. They REALLY did a good job there. The beans and rice were solid and could stand their ground most anywhere. If you want good tex-mex in the area, you won't go wrong stopping at La Lajita. NOTE: My son is much better at Spanish than me. He said that lajita means "little flat rocks". It's used descriptively for the limestone formations on the sides of mountains. Very apt name for the mountainous areas. From now on I'm going to refer to the exposed stone mountainsides as lajitas.

As anyone who follows along with my yelp knows I like BIG food!…read more Yesterday, a friend tipped me off to a giant burrito in Morristown TN. Apart from the tip I couldn't find any other information on it. The following day being my day off, I headed out to Morristown to check it out for myself. As I pulled in I almost though they may be closed but they were not and I am sure glad they weren't. I came through the door and was cordially greeted. You walk through a grocery section and a butchers counter before it finally opens into the dining room. Something I know very well as I was raised in southern California and many Carneceria have restruants hidden within. (Often serving the best mexican food around) which was exactly the case here. So I sat down and again greeted by the server, with all smiles, chios and salsa and huge menu full of things that I will picture and post as I will definitely be going back! However, today I was here for one thing and one thing only....this gigantic burrito I knew nothing about. It wasn't listed on the menu either so I inquired. It is the "Superior Burrito Challenge" consisting of a burrito with your choice of meat, rolled into 3 tortillas with sides of rice and beans, the chips and salsa are included in what completes this challenge. You are given 20 minutes to clear it all. If your clear in 20 minutes you walk with no bill! They even gave me a drink for the road. If you fail you have to cough up $13.99, tuck your tail and try again another day. Totally worth a try if you like your burritos the size of your leg! Today I was victorious at 8:05! Give it a go, let me know how you did.
