I've been looking for an authentic Mexican spot and was sent here. My family is from Los Angeles where we have enjoyed lots of amazing Mexican food. The chips and slightly spicy salsa were a good start. The staff was less than friendly, even when we revealed that most of our party spoke fluent Spanish. SKIP the Carne Asada- it was not good! I'm not sure what other reviewers are thinking rating this restaurant high, but I cannot. I'll start by saying I'm very picky about cleanliness. So, great food aside, if it doesn't look and smell clean, I'm out. When I walked in it smelled like a drain was backed up. It doesn't appear like it's a restaurant at all. I didn't know if I was walking in a bail bonds place or a restaurant. As we walked further in, we saw a few booths. The floors looked dirty. The walls looked dirty. I, reluctantly sat down. I would have made a run for it but it's tiny and there's a Mexican market in there too so the space is cramped. I didn't want to order but my friend refused to leave as it would have been obvious. So I thought I would order the safest thing I could think of, water and a cheese quesadilla. The chips were stale and the salsa was "different" though I only tried two bites. The cheese quesadilla came out as a chicken quesadilla. I took three bites and will admit it was fairly good. But I couldn't eat a bite more because of the cleanliness, or lack thereof. The booths were sticky. I just couldn't handle it. So I didn't make a scene, I hid some of my food under some chips. My friend ate the other part of my quesadilla. Within ten minutes of getting our food were we done and I was out. I didn't even wait for him to pay. I feel bad to write this because the server was very nice but it may have been the most unclean place I've ever eaten. I looked for the health rating but didn't see it. It's probably because it's never been inspected because there's no evidence it's even a restaurant from the outside! I ate here ONLY because of yelp reviews. This place is fantastic! The staff are very friendly and helpful. Service was fast too! They bring you complimentary chips and salsa when you sit down. The salsa is delicious! Super fresh with a nice kick of heat! The food is authentic Mexican so don't expect to find enchiladas with kraft yellow cheese here! They are also vegan friendly! We tried several dishes but our favorites were the torta and Gordita. We had them add potatoes instead of meat and it was perfection! Just say no cheese/mayo on the torta and no cheese on the Gordita to make it vegan. Definitely the best and most authentic Mexican food in town. We will definitely be back! read more

As anyone who follows along with my yelp knows I like BIG food! Yesterday, a friend tipped me off to a giant burrito in Morristown TN. Apart from the tip I couldn't find any other information on it. The following day being my day off, I headed out to Morristown to check it out for myself. As I pulled in I almost though they may be closed but they were not and I am sure glad they weren't. I came through the door and was cordially greeted. You walk through a grocery section and a butchers counter before it finally opens into the dining room. Something I know very well as I was raised in southern California and many Carneceria have restruants hidden within. (Often serving the best mexican food around) which was exactly the case here. So I sat down and again greeted by the server, with all smiles, chios and salsa and huge menu full of things that I will picture and post as I will definitely be going back! However, today I was here for one thing and one thing only....this gigantic burrito I knew nothing about. It wasn't listed on the menu either so I inquired. It is the "Superior Burrito Challenge" consisting of a burrito with your choice of meat, rolled into 3 tortillas with sides of rice and beans, the chips and salsa are included in what completes this challenge. You are given 20 minutes to clear it all. If your clear in 20 minutes you walk with no bill! They even gave me a drink for the road. If you fail you have to cough up $13.99, tuck your tail and try again another day. Totally worth a try if you like your burritos the size of your leg! Today I was victorious at 8:05! Had a real nice authentic mexican dinner here Saturday night. The Cuban sandwich I had was very good and almost enough for 2! The fresh guacamole was excellent! My girlfriend had the cheesteak tacos that were good as well. The wait staff friendly and helpful. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was the no beer was available.
