Can I give 6 stars? This gym is amazing! The vibe is…read morenon-intimidating, supportive, and fun! The instructors are skilled and hilarious and somehow make doing planks fun. They also make everyone feel welcome. I've only been for Pilates classes but have been to several of them and loved them all. Pilates classes tend to draw a female crowd which can be intimidating but this studio couldn't be further from that. Everyone is welcoming, no one cares what you wear (Lulu who? Wear your favorite t-shirt), and every skill level is accommodated. They have 4 reformer machines so for classical reformer classes, they have 4 spots. I typically go over lunch and book ~5 days out and usually don't have an issue getting a spot. They use the MindBody app and have their own app as well so booking classes is easy! They use a waitlist and most times I've been on the waitlist, I get added to the class. The instructors mix things up and keep it interesting with fun music! I've been to reformer classes elsewhere with soft, soothing music and it nearly put me to sleep. Not here! Expect 80s jams from Jean, Lizzo from Andrea, and the Doobie Brothers (or Beyonce!) from Ruth. They have a Pilates Circuit class that combines the reformer, jump board, tower, chair, mat, TRX, and more. I haven't done the same workout in a Circuit class once. Circuit classes can have 12 (or maybe even 16) people in a class which is super fun and keeps the energy in class moving. The studio has cubbies for your belongings, a bathroom, towels, and a shower. They have a parking lot with maybe 10 spots and tons of parking spots along the street. I haven't had an issue with parking but they are next door to Psycho Suzi's so on a summer Saturday, give yourself extra time to park. Upstairs they have the "Treehouse" where they hold barre, Pilates, and yoga classes. The back wall of the studio is all windows that face the Mississippi. They also have the "Basement" where they have open gym and weight classes. They even have open gym times in the "Treehouse" with the Pilates equipment! Their prices are wonderful! Your first week is free so definitely try that. I did and 6 months later, am still going to classes. Your first month of unlimited classes is $59 which is INSANE for Pilates. Their memberships get you any class - reformer, yoga, kettlebells, whatever! PLUS unlimited access to open gym times. After the intro month, their prices and membership options vary but are still some of the most affordable options I've seen. They have a 12-class-a-month option for $135 which means each class is $11.25 - for reformer classes! I've seen studios charge $35 for one class. They host free outdoor workouts in the park, bike rides, and "Planks & Dranks" events at local bars. If you're looking for great workouts, a supportive workout community, and affordable classes, try a class at NE Fitness. I suggest the Pilates Circuit Class with Andrea to get you started. See you there!

Did I die and go to heaven? Because this is what heaven looks like to me!…read more My hotel gave me a pass to the University fitness and wellness center next door. Floors and floors of equipment, studios of classes, etc. Love it here. Did I mention there is a dance/ballroom? Yoga rooms, every machine imaginable, pools (4), a running track, all kinds of sports courts. There is a south gym with 3 tiers on the first floor, 3 more floors above (top floor was the running track), a floor below, and then an entire north gym. Toe north building had all the pools and a store, "the equipment room" where I able to buy a bathing cap. I used a pool for free swim and got lost in the women's locker room. I went in via the north building but came out the south building! So huge. Seriously, I can die now. It can't get any better than this.

This was my first visit for the purpose of volunteering at USA Swimming Junior National Championship. Parking can be a challenge for visitors. There is a nearby parking garage and very limited surface spaces. The area around the pool was clean. The building although dated to possibly the 70's is in great condition. The majority of the facility is the competition pool used by the University of Minnesota Swim team. The facility is nicely maintained. However, faculty and students can use the pool. The Olympic size competition pool is 50 meters with movable bulkhead, platform diving and well. The aquatic complex consist of approximately 145,000 gallons of swimming capability. The Long Course pool has eight lanes for competition.. The spectator area is expansive and spans the entire length of both sides of the pool and well. The public locker room area is large and pretty clean. There were two malfunctioning items. Great facility and hope to return for another event in the near future.

There are now 3 (unisex) bathrooms for changing, 2 of which have showers. They still have the tanning room and at least one room for classes, but I've seen people in there alone doing stretches and things like that. The treadmills and bikes are on their own level now. The "bottom" level contains all the weight machines, the front desk, and the elliptical/cross trainers, plus a new rowing machine. The one downside of the new location is the parking. I never had any trouble finding spots in the main lot during the summer/fall but when winter hit I find the lot is always packed (during lunch), and the extra parking spots down the road are almost always full. I actually had to *leave* today because there wasn't a single spot to park, and since I'm on my lunch break I don't have time to wait and watch for someone to leave. What the heck goes on in this building at 12-12:30 that makes parking impossible? The gym is never crowded so I know that's not the case!

My favorite part about this gym is the community feel. There are a ton of regulars from diverse backgrounds that have been going to this gym for years and it is to no surprise -- of all the places I've been to in the Twin Cities, the owner and staff at this location go out of their way to make clients feel welcome and comfortable. Highly recommend!
