Sooo much better than the one up the street! This place is a wonderful 2 in 1 delight w/the grocery store/restaurant combo. Really enjoyed taking a look around before finally ordering up some delicious birria and diving into the salsa/sauce bar. This hidden gem is ripe w/some authentic Mexican cuisine & decor. Staff speaks much less english than your American Mex restaurants that fill Jonesboro, but they make up for it w/going above and beyond in service! This review is for the Los Arcos Restaurant that is across the street from the Mexican Store. What can I say, but YUM. We ordered tacos and ceviche with a glass of the Michael Jordan tequila Cincoro (for him) and a spicy mango blended margarita (for me). Both were absolutely delicious! (I enjoy straight tequila and the occasional sweet drink so this was exactly what I wanted). For food, I tried the chicharron taco, the pastor taco, and the carnitas taco. So yummy! I was craving the lengua taco but they were sadly out. I'm planning on returning to try it though! They give you 4 different hot sauces as well... they come in little jars so they definitely seem homemade! Also, service was absolutely excellent. I usually enjoy sitting at the bar instead of a table if I'm alone or with one other person. Honestly, the bartender was fantastic and made our experience here topnotch. This is concerning the one on Caraway Road. If negative stars were an option, that is what this restaurant deserves. Never before has a dining experience made me feel like I was in the middle of an episode of Kitchen Nightmares. We have been customers of this restaurant since it first came to town. I am talking about back when it was at Matthew's and you had to Google the translation of the menu before ordering. We opted to try their brunch for the first time a couple of weeks ago. The entire experience ruined our day. The eggs Benedict was served on hamburger buns that were swimming in hollandaise sauce and topped with raw eggs (not just a runny yolk, but raw egg whites). The chilaquiles were smothered in what tasted like the most basic store-brand salsa verde, and it was cold. The pork on top was bland and tasted like iron. It was just bad, reminiscent of a tuna fish flavor. We are connoisseurs of both brunch and Mexican cuisine, and this was not either. Our server struggled to keep up, but they were busy, and we understood. We sent back the eggs Benedict immediately and had to wait forever for the replacement after having waited for an extremely long time to receive our food in the first place. We felt bad sending anything else back, so we just didn't eat. After not seeing our server for a long while, we eventually just asked for our check and kindly asked that the food that we did not eat be taken off of the ticket. We were extremely kind and apologetic in asking, as this was literally the first time in my life that I had sent anything back to a kitchen or asked to have anything removed from my ticket. What ensued was a jaw-dropping confrontation that resulted in my family being double-teamed by the manager and our server. They implied that we didn't understand what Mexican cuisine is supposed to taste like and we're trying to steal food (the food that we did not eat). I told the manager that if they would just take off the brunch items that we did not eat, I would order something else and gladly pay for it. After what seemed like forever, she agreed. When we finally got our ticket, they only removed two of the three items that were agreed upon and upcharged me for the replacement food, ringing it up as "open food" rather than the menu price of the item. When I confronted the manager about it, she said, "But you ordered the other food," meaning the brunch item that was left on the ticket after she had agreed to take it off if I ordered something else. After literally being called a liar and being told that I did not know what it should taste like and that the rest of the restaurant was fine, they finally relented and agreed to charge us just for our appetizer, the replacement food, and the one entree that was not sent back--which was all we were asking for from the start. Mind you that this entire time the manager and server were standing over our table wildly gesturing and being belligerent in front of the entire restaurant. After we got the final ticket, the server would not stop talking and arguing with us. She said that next time we should order food that we liked. She also explained that the sent-back food was held out of her pay, which is HIGHLY illegal. All in all, I spent over two hours at the restaurant and had the worst meal, dining experience, and Mother's Day of my life. We will never be back. I will admit that when the restaurant is good, it's really good, but when it is bad, it is borderline traumatic. We didn't even feel safe eating our replacement food and threw it away. The name on our ticket is Denisse. I am unsure if that is the server or manager; both were female. Never before have I seen such an unprofessional display at any establishment. Everyone in our dining party has worked in a restaurant at one point, and we have never witnessed such behavior. I wish that I would have taken photos of the dishes, but I honestly didn't expect for it to devolve into the situation that it did. We were still optimistic that they would be professional and do the right thing at that point. read more

Personally, I have loved the food here. it's very good and not like other mexican restaurants. But I heard from my friend that they could have "drugged" her drink. She took a couple sips and was throwing up in the bathroom and couldn't walk. But not confirmed. read more

This used to be our go to place for Mexican food and this summer it seems to have gone down hill. The salsa is a important part of the meal to me and theirs started tasting different this year and it is not good. It doesn't even taste really like a salsa, last time we were there it tasted closer to a pizza sauce than salsa. We visited the location on Caraway Rd on a Saturday night. There was no wait so we were able to be sat immediately. Our waitress took our drink as soon as we sat and a gentleman brought us some tasty chips and salsa. We were shown lots of attention upon arrival but as the night progressed, the service became less. We didn't even see our waitress again until it was time to pay. We ordered a full cheese dip to start but they brought out a medium. No big deal, we just kept it and moved on. I ordered the chicken fajitas with corn tortillas and my husband ordered 3 sopes. When our meal arrived I noticed they brought me the wrong type of fajitas. After a while, my correct order was brought out but with no tortillas. When everything finally got settled, we dug in. The flavor of mine was delicious and you could tell it was just cooked because of how hot it was. (I love it when my food arrives steaming hot!) The portion was huge! In hindsight, we should've shared this one meal. My husband's sopes were sadly, very unimpressive. They were covered with so much refried beans and sour cream that the meat could not even be tasted. The sopes couldn't hold up to all of the toppings and soon became a soggy mess. While the night wasn't a complete success, I think we would come back here agin. Best freaking tacos on the planet. There, I said it. My coworker asked me yesterday, "Whatcha thinking for lunch?" Well, I had been thinking already, and I responded, "Tacos. And not just any tacos. I want real tacos." So we went to Los Arcos Mexican Store. Let me tell you... best freaking tacos on the planet. When we arrived we were told it was .99 taco day. Score! Turns out every Wednesday and Friday is taco day. So I opened the menu, flipped to the tacos, and ordered one of every taco. Came out to a total of 6 tacos. I had my choice of corn or flour tortillas. Corn, of course, because I wanted real tacos. They came out piping hot and every one of them were amazing. They also have a salsa bar there with a wide array of salsas. I found the most painfully hot and used it on my tacos. If you're like me, and you can't turn down a good taco, I don't know why you haven't come here yet. Stop what you're doing. And go get some of these tacos. Btw, they have other things besides tacos. Like many people I've talked to, I have wanted but been too intimidated to come here for years thinking it was exclusively for Spanish speaking people since there is a Mexican grocery store attached. But it isn't! We had no problem ordering and most of the menu was also in english. The back page is in Spanish, but that's where the authentic (and many) taco choices are located as well as some beverages. If you have trouble, the waitresses are usually pretty helpful. Now on to the food...TACOS AL PASTOR! I haven't had them since Tacos don Richard stopped making them. So spicy and so so so good. They even put seared jalepeno and onions on the side and upon request, you get salsa verde and a spicy orange sauce at your table. Friday night before 7 (and possibly also Monday and Wednesday? I wasn't clear on that) you can get the mini tacos for 99 cents each. 3 is plenty to make me burst at the seams. Two people can eat here with cheese dip and salsa for under $9 and be crazy full. read more

I'm probably not going to go back anytime soon though the place is decent. Work colleagues and I have tried the place a few times. Overall, it's not bad, but the food is a bit of a disappointment. Today at lunch I ordered hard tacos. The first one was nice and crunchy. By the time I got to the third one, it was falling apart and soggy from all the juice or water in the tacos. The food is ALWAYS soggy. I mean, it is just way too wet and messy. The ranchero special I ordered my first visit there was tasty, but it was swimming in goop. I don't remember what I ordered on my second visit, but I do remember that it too was just too wet and soggy for what it was. The atmosphere of the place is good. And the service has been excellent three out of four times. The bowl of complimentary chips and salsa is very good. I think they make their own chips, which are thick, warm, and sturdy. The salsa is excellent. It's just the food. One of my colleagues has sworn off the place because he gets a case of the bubble guts after every visit. It's a shame, too. The place is so close to being a very good option for my work's lunch bunch. read more

This was the absolute worst experience I ever had at a restaurant. My children were served ROTTEN CHICKEN! We came in to celebrate my mother in law's birthday who passed away in 2022. She loved Mexican food and my husband's work mates recommended this place. We were seated, ordered and the food did take a long time and wasn't really what we expected, but we were starving so whatever. Well we started eating and I grabbed some of the chicken enchiladas from the kids plate and fed it to my toddler, my older three kids had already been eating. I took a bite and it was rancid. I picked up another piece of chicken and had my husband smell it. It was the worst food smell I've ever smelt. I was horrified my kids and I ate this. We finally got our waiter to come over and he wouldn't smell it he just stood there clueless, so we asked for the manager. We waited for 20 minutes. During that time none of the other waiters would smell it and were super unapologetic. Finally an employee who was cleaning the bathroom smelt it and said "YES! That's BAD!" Eventually the manager appeared. Didn't say anything, grabbed the fork with the chicken on it out of my husband's hand and went to the kitchen. My husband was shocked and said "No don't just take it!" 2 minutes later he came back, and just handed it back not even saying anything. I was so confused and upset. My husband got up and went to talk to the waiters standing around with the manager. The manager offered no apology and said "It could happen anywhere!" Never in my life have I been served ROTTEN CHICKEN!!! He only gave us $30 off our $100 ticket though after that none of us could even eat. Me and my boyfriend came in for a quick bite. Horrible service. We waited about 5 minutes to be sat down. About 20 minutes for our server to greet us, and about 20 minutes until we got Franks. Our server gave us an attitude and was rude with us while ordering. We ran out of chips and drinks. The manager finally had to come up to us for us to get refills on anything! I have not yet had the pleasure to sit down and enjoy a meal here yet but my family does often shop here and bring things home. The (pre-seasoned)meat they have for sale is excellent and tasty, no extra seasoning needed on your part. My mother is also a fan of the Elote (street corn) and says they have the best in town! Not only do I hate white cheese sauce but having my burrito covered in it when I didn't want it on there gives me some pause back to the tasteless southern style american mexican food that's so prevalent in these parts. Los Arcos thinly veils this change in their menu as Tex-Mex but its far from, and as previously stated it will ruin this mostly authentic mexican restaurant and I am disappointed that I even need to bring this up or double check my togo orders from now on. I choose a star out of 5 for each category then average it out for my final score. This review is after my 3rd visit so that I may measure the consistency of any or, all issues. Food: **** To start the food was cooked thoroughly, and brought out hot. Textures and scent were appealing, and in general the taste rivaled any other Mexican establishment in the Jonesboro area. Aesthetics: *** I was delighted by the colorful decor, matching tables and booths, and TV placement if it were to peak my interest. However, the floors never looked clean during any of my visits, and the overall layout tends to feel cramped. No matter where you sit. Customer Service: * I was told to seat myself upon my first visit, and could not find a table that neither needed to be cleaned or had guests still dining. The waitress who took my order was friendly, and made sure she understood the specifics of my order. Unfortunately, this is where the good customer service ended. My visits would average 10-12 minutes, and I would not receive a single table touch-in. Meaning no re-fills. On my second visit after taking my order the waitress engaged in a rather long and loud conversation with the couple in the table next to me. After finally submitting my order, she went back to the conversation. Which turned obnoxious really fast. Not the worst, but far from the best. read more

This is a true Mexican Restaurant located on Matthews street in Jonesboro. I eat there at least once a week for lunch. They have great lunch specials as well as fantastic tacos. The food was fantastic!!! The cheese dip was thick (I hate runny cheese dip) and the chimichanga that I ordered was huge for the price I paid. Their food does have a sort of cinnamon taste to it, but it surprisingly works! Our meals came out very quickly, and our waitress kept our drinks and chip basket full. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone that loves Mexican food and would like to try something a little different than El Acapulco. read more
