This place makes me hate my life. You could hear the manager yelling at the bus boy's in the kitchen from where I sat. Degrading them and other staff. You have great music playing, a good conversation going then his abusive behavior interrupts my meal and vacation only to leave me feeling sorry for the people that have to work here bc they have bills to pay. Food was great but then gradually ruined bc it made me think of how brutally murdered my chicken was!! You can get better tex-mex in texas, that'll be my next vocational outlet, safe to say I'll never waste my time here again. The surrounding behavior of staff can really affect a meal. El Acapulco. Where do I start...as a young boy growing up in Puerto Rico I have grown accustomed to very good Latin food. my expectations for El Acapulco were reasonable. However; after dining at this establishment my socks have been blown clearly off. The chicken and shrimp ranchero is to die for. The salsa is a mix of sweet and spicy with the perfect amount of heat that will make your cheeks rosy. We decided to order the large cheese dip as an appetizer and let's just say even though I am lactose I may have lost the war in the end but the battle was won. A solid good rating. I don't know how restaurants in this dry county pay their bills without a club license on $8 entrees (no alcohol is available at this location). Amazing! Must be sheer volume. Prices are very affordable, service is fast and friendly. The menu is the standard Ameri-Mex taco, burrito, chalupa, pizza-taco-pizza-nachos, whatever, that we all crave. What is it about those never ending baskets of warm chips n salsa that makes us eat one after another after another?! Cannot think of a house "speciality" here, but everything has been good. Went on a Friday at lunchtime, and received my food in less than 5 minutes afterwards.... To me, that set off a major red flag. Like it wasn't prepared fresh to order. We ate here last Friday. Food was good but had to use light on my phone to read menu. Floors were slick. Went out to the foyer to wait while my husband paid for our meal. The floor was so slick I fell and dropped our leftovers all over foyer area. My husband came out to help me up and pick up food containers. A customer coming into the restaurant went inside and grabbed a handful of napkins to help cleanup. Not a single employee or business owner from El Alcapulco came out to help or check up on me. I still have a bruised knee and sore back. We will not be returning to this restaurant. They were not busy and even if they were they should care enough to stop and check on a hurt individual. I have never posted negative or low review but this incident justifies this post. read more

I really like this place. We've been coming since it opened & always receive great service. The unsweetened tea is always fresh, the chips aren't too hard or too thin, and the salsa doesn't taste like it comes straight from the jar. (And if it does, it's some good jarred salsa!) The food isn't really anything different from most of the tex-mex restaurants I've been to, but I have yet to get that "canned" chicken taste I get at some, which is a total no go for me. Chicken is not so hard to prepare that it needs to come from a can. My husband usually gets some form of steak entree, my kids are all over the menu, & we never leave unhappy. Large enough portions for leftovers, chips & drinks kept filled, & the child's portion plates are really big! Clean, friendly, prompt service, all makes for 5 stars with me :-) read more

Of all the mexican food restaurants in the area, this is my favorite so far. The only bummer is they don't serve margaritas. Our family ordered the Queso Fundido (spicy chorizo), but it wasn't spicy at all. The chimichanga and kids burrito was pretty good though. Overall, decent food and we'll be back. read more

Oh, El Acapulco. Home of so many of my high school luncheons and nights out. Mind you, this rating is purely for nostalgia. This is not authentic Mexican cuisine. It is simply Taco Bell with nicer ingredients and better meals. I love that the same people who talk about authentic Mexican meals call it "cheese dip." The food here is not bad. The service is always okay. The atmosphere is what you'd expect any middle-American tex-mex place to be. As far as tex-mex goes, it's the most consistently okay stuff you'll find in Jonesboro. Decent Mexican, value priced. This is a fun place for pretty good Mexican fare in Jonesboro. Dry county so don't expect a beer or Margarita - just fresh, solid Mexican in a friendly fun atmosphere. I always give kudos when they're merited, but our dinner for two at El Acapulco got a star only because the waiter was very nice, and the ambience was good. I should have been alerted when the food came so quickly, obviously not prepared fresh. The cheese sauce was runny (and cold). Had to ask for a spoon to even try the "liquid" refried beans...(have yet to find a whole bean). Have had better burritos and enchiladas in frozen microwave dinners. How they stay in business is beyond me. Wish I'd just gone to Taco Bell. read more

Not bad for Jonesboro. Very fast service. Ordered the fried beef chimichanga, and while it was really good, there was some question as to whether it was actually shredded beef or possibly chicken ( I prefer ground beef, it was my bad for not asking). Great beans and rice, fresh and crisp side veggies, nice chips. Salsa was lacklustre. Overall a tasty meal at a ggod price. As I said, it's Jonesboro, so my expectations were low... I absolutely love this place. Definitely in my top 5 places to eat- I could eat here many nights a week! I ADORE their amazing cheese dip... I always crave it! The staff is always friendly, even when they're crazy packed. They're funny, and always nice and 80% of the time you won't even want for anything, it's almost like the walls have ears! There's only been a few times I've ever been not completely satisfied- and the one time I got upset at a waiter it was handled quickly. There's hardly anything I can say negative about this place. It may not be "authentic" Mexican food but it's my favorite Mexican restaurant and I definitely recommend it to anyone. read more
