Bad service... I sat at the bar and bartender completely ignored me even though the bar was not busy at all. Waitress came up and asked if I needed a menu and I told her I wasn't sure because I needed a drink first and I wasn't sure if I was going to get one. She went looking for the bartender who had walked away. He finally came back and mixed something without even looking at me and placed it in front of me. I asked him what that was, as it looked weird to me and he said it was a blended margarita like I had asked the lady for. I asked him why it looked like that and he said I had to mix it myself. I did. I tasted it and it tasted like a strawberry drink, no alcohol. Shitty attitude from bartender. Waitress was very nice and when I told her I wasn't sure going to pay for the drink (but not drink it) and leave. She apologized for the drink and the bartender's shitty attitude. Not a foodie, a service snob. In a town with a Mexican place on every corner, it gets tough to beat the competition with food. So i win. Customer service for the day. That being said, this is pretty typical semi authentic Mexican food. it has the nice fake plaster walls, arched doorways, and normal kitsch associated with Mexican Americana. So pleasant. But where this place nails it for me is the service. how many places does your server hit you up in 30 minutes? Twice? Three times? These folks are there about every 10 minutes. Often enough for a refill of drinks, some extra salsa, more chips.... it's nice. Oh and portions are rather generous. So bring your hungry. read more

We have been going there for quite a while. The atmosphere is nice the food is excellent. But! We took my brother for his birthday. He had not been there before. My husband and I always order the same thing because we love that particular dish. We order the chimichanga. When we got our food we were so surprised. The chimichanga was literally (and I am using literally correctly) it was half the size as normal. I mean the food tasted the same. It was very good. Most times my husband and I would share one order if we were to take out. But when we go into the restaurant we each order a dinner. We used to be able to each take some home and have for lunch the next day. We enjoyed the food, and I get times are hard, but they are hard for everyone. The customer goes out to eat. That special. We tip our wait person 20% now not 10%. The cost all falls on the customers. The table next to us heard my husband say "that's half the size of normal". They said their meal was the same. Half the size. My husband thought we maybe ordered the wrong thing. Nope. Half the size. Not sure if we will go back. Too bad cuz the food is good. Just a tip to them. If you are going to cut back because things are so expensive, cut back a little. Make it right for both you and the customer. We hadn't been there for a few months. Los Arcos has been a favorite of ours for years. The food has been consistently excellent. So, when we were expecting a gathering of about 20 people coming from Albany, Portland, Tigard, Boring, Sandy, Sublimity and across the country, we suggested lunching there. Since people were arriving from all over they showed up at different times; some earlier than others. The first arrivals were treated quite rudely by the lady who greeted them. She was clearly very aggravated that they'd arrived earlier than the reservation time, even though the tables were set up. After scolding them she finally agreed to seat them. They were served chips and beans and salsa. When some arrived later, we were told that we would have to pay for chips because 'there is a limit of two baskets' for free. Never mind, I guess that WE hadn't had two baskets. So, while we don't have any complaints about the food or service for a single table, we DEFINITELY would not recommend planning a pleasant group outing there. read more

Chips, salsa, and beans oh my! Love that they give you beans to go with the salsa and warm chips as a starter. The food comes out hot. I love their red enchilada sauce. I also love their taquitos. I have always had good service here and it's great for groups. Sometimes there is a wait at busy times but it's usually worth it. read more

Los Arcos used to be one of our favorite restaurants. Haven't been there in a long time so thought we'd entry it again. Best thing was the warm, stale chips. My chile relleno was the worst I've ever had. It was a frozen, pre-prepared, ready for the deep fryer type. But it didn't get adequate time in the fryer so the coating was soggy and the pepper was still raw. It tasted like it had been in the freezer for a year. My wife's chicken enchilada was equally bad with a stale tasting tortilla and canned, bland enchilada sauce. Never again. read more

Celebrating a birthday here tonight, reservations for a group of 10. When we arrived we were told we could not be seated until more of our party arrived. I asked if our table was ready, they said yes. "Why can't we be seated then?" I asked. It's policy I was told. "I understand it's your policy, what's the reason for the policy? I'm wet from the rain and I'd like to take my coat off and sit." It's just our policy, I was told. Luckily the rest of party showed up about then. I was happy to see some things on the menu you don't see on every other Mexican restaurant...papusas, lamb shank, etc. Unfortunately it was pretty unanimous from our group, very bland. I haven't been here for many years because previous visits weren't great and there seemed to be much better options. My neighbor loves this place, so we decided to give it another try... Lame! Carne Asada was crap meat full of gristle. Steak and chicken fajitas was not bad, but very little meat and lots of onions to fill the platter. Pork carnitas was super lame and small pieces of tough pork, not melt in your mouth tender pork like it should be. Last dish in our party of four was a chili rellenos which was bland and uneventful.... This will be the last time we eat here. I have enjoyed Los Arcos' food for several years, but had a very surprising bad experience a week ago where the enchilada sauce was not much more than a tablespoon of sauce mixed with a cup of water. It was explained to me as being them changing to an "original" recipe, so I posted my dissatisfaction. I have returned, and I am pleased to report the past experience was just a glitch and not a change in recipes. I have eaten many dishes, and have enjoyed the cheese and onion enchiladas, the chile verde tostada, the albondigas soup, and the t-bone steak. Food was fantastic cant say bad for the cooks. Service was horrible. Took 20min to order (place was not busy. About 1/3 full) . Had to ask three different servers to get one refill that took 10 min. To top it off had to wait in line to pay my bill. Four other tables were also ignored. So they got up to pay at front to. That is nine other people that told me they won't be back. This used to be far and away my kids and my favorite place for Mexican Food. I understand there has been a pandemic and Oregon held on to that sucker like a pacifier long after the rest of the country had moved forward, but you can't use it as an excuse for bad food and poor service. The dining room seem dingy and poorly lit. The service was slow. None of us ordered anything difficult, but we sat and watched other tables get their food that had been seated and ordered after us. My meal came out wrong. I just accepted it and moved on. The food was bland at best. When the check came I gave the server my debit card. When she returned the bill was $10.70 higher than the original bill. I thought maybe they had added the tip in since we had 5 people in our group. When I asked if that was the case I was told I had been presented the wrong check. I figured mistakes happened and decent tip to the new bill and signed it. Over the next couple days I have watched my bank account get charged, credited, charged, credited and charged again until they got to the highest possible bill. After looking back at what was ordered turns out the original lower bill was correct. The whole thing seemed super sketchy. Obviously we'll never go back. They lost 5 pretty regular customers in one epic fail of a meal. read more

Wanting Mexican food I decided to give Los Arcos a try. I chose to eat in the bar area which had a more open better feel to it than the regular dining area in my opinion. I had beef enchiladas in flour tortillas which came with pinto beans and rice. The meal was ok, but nothing special. The staff was very good, both friendly and attentive. We've been meaning to try Los Arcos for a couple of years and just never got around to it. Menu prices were lower than the equivalent level of Mexican restaurants around town. Chips are crispy, fresh and flavorful. Salsa is very different- wonderful! It has less of a jalapeño and more of a roasted chili flavor. Husband had a burrito. It was good and large. He always holds all the toppings so picture shows a pretty plain looking burrito. I had advocate tostado $6.75 for a big plate. Every thing was fresh. Chicken was tasty and tender.
