after a full morning of sightseeing, and a train to catch within the hour, we needed to find a…read moreplace where we could grab something quick to take on the train with us so that we could have some lunch. fortunately, this was pretty close to our hotel (where our cabbie would pick us up in a matter of minutes), and they had sandwiches and other snacks available for purchase. although the lady who worked here didn't speak english, i had grasped enough food-related words in spanish to get by. i wanted to order two sandwiches and a donut for our trip, so in my very, very weak spanish, i said "uno, bocadillo, queso, y tomatoes" and then "uno, bocadillo, jamon y queso." since i didn't know the word for donut, i motioned to the pastry display case and pointed to the plain donut, covered in sugar. it was enough to get the message across, and within a matter of minutes, the kind lady assembled and wrapped up a cheese & tomato sandwich, a ham & cheese sandwich, and one sugar donut, put them in a bag, and handed it to me. the total? €7.10, not bad for two generously sized sammies plus a pastry! we didn't get to eat them until a bit later, since we were rushing to the train station, but once we were settled into our seats and on our way, we quite enjoyed these sandwiches! there was a generous amount of filling inside each sammy, which i appreciated since many places give you a ton of bread with little filling. i'm not sure which was more satisfying, the fact that the sandwiches were good and filled our tummies, or the fact that i was actually able to communicate to a native in my very broken spanish. either way, i will definitely remember this cafe as a good place to pick up something to go!

When we walked in, we noticed that they had lots of flavors, and they were all very unique. The staff was very helpful and patient in explaining all the flavors and the tags for each one had the name and the main ingredients/flavors involved.   I ended up getting the maria cookie one and forgot the name of the other flavor. They were both very creamy, not overly sweet, soft but not to the point of melting, and it was a good portion for the size. The bigger the size of the cup you order, the more flavors you can add. They also do let you sample the flavors which is nice, that way you don't end up with something you aren't pleased with. It appears they also do a good job of introducing different flavors for limited periods of time which keeps you coming back for more. If I lived closer, I would definitely be here often. The only complaint was that they don't have seating inside since it is a small space, and they also don't have tables/chairs outside. There is a playground and lots of dining areas around the corner though, which is where we went to enjoy our gelato.
