I was amazed at the self checkout and the free hiking kits with state park pass to use for free. Most of the books I looked for were checked out or unavailable. Books were priced at $3 but you could purchase a bag of books for $7 after 2 pm. I found a book I was looking for on Irish nationalism and other books. The staff was very pleasant and helpful in assisting me. I noticed most books were new and in good condition in the library. The library was clean, and the new books displayed were impressive. Finding this library was east to drive to, find, and park at despite the busy traffic in the area. Definitely a library I will visit in the future.

We have visited for story times, play dates, and crafts. The children's section is also really nice and includes lots of toys and a play kitchen that is popular. As far as inventory, this is a very well stocked library. Lots of bilingual Spanish books, noticed some Japanese and Korean books too. The book sales they do a few times a year are great opportunities for inexpensive children's books.

My family and I used to live in the Lake Ridge area for roughly 2 years. I've always been ignored…read moreor dismissed when I visited this location but I have looked passed it. When we moved out of the area (down the street, basically), I took my 2 yr old there for the first time for toddler storytime- we have been to other locations and loved it. Before storytime started and all of the kids were playing with puzzles and toys provided by the library, Ms. Lynne Casey walked directly up to my son and I (who were in the back) and said "Those toys need to be put away. Now. It's storytime." This comment seemed overly directed to just us so I asked her if she was going to ask the other children to put their toys away as well. She deflected and reiterated that her assistant was supposed to have everything put away already and we needed to put the toys away as "it's storytime". I am not one to jump to "racism" as an excuse but as the 5 other families in the library were caucasian, I can't help to think that my African American son and I were targeted by Ms. Lynne.This is unacceptable and I will for sure never visit this location again. This is a huge disappointment as the library is a nostalgic and comforting place for us to visit.

It's very modern looking on both the outside and inside with lots of windows allowing for natural sunlight to pour in. The book sale was in a couple of rooms off to the side in the front. I've had better luck with fiction than non fiction. Magazines and newspapers are here, as are considerable reference selections. For students this can be quite helpful. It is comfortable with nice chairs. If you're in the area, this one should be good enough to stop in at.

Landscapers keep the grounds freshly manicured year round and it's never hard to pick out a spot of grass to just sit down and relax on. Base police keep a tight ship so make sure you watch where you park or you'll probably get a ticket, and base tickets aren't cheap. Overall, great post. Can't match a navy or air force base of the same caliber, but hey, it can always try. Five stars for a job well done.

The sale was almost over when I got there but I found some good books: an Egyptian illustrated book on hieroglyphics, a blank notebook made in England, and a vintage book on birds. They charged $5 for a bag of books. Not a bad deal. The staff was very helpful and the sale was well organized.

They have CAC readers and the appropriate software for DA forms. Plus you're able to print and scan for free. Just remember, no thumb drives in government computers! The service I've received here was fabulous. Ok, I'll give you that it was one instance where I needed help scanning, but the girl went above and beyond her duties to explain it. Maybe she was a volunteer because that did not look like the "good enough for government work" I'm accustomed to from civilians. I can't really speak to the book selection since I go to the Alexandria public libraries to fulfill my book needs. I've seen other people check stuff out, especially from the kids section, so it must be sufficient...or close enough. Speaking of kids... The one thing to beware of is the plethora of "Army wives" (yeah, you know what I'm talking about) with kids en toe. Those little rugrats that don't understand that libraries are quiet places and that if Soldiers are going there it's likely in order to get important work done. I'd recommend going in the morning, before the school day is over, though you may still have to contend with those younger than 5 years olds.
