Horchata salvadoreña
Ana V.

Had to try a new Salvadorean food place and it did not disappoint, from the aesthetic look on the outside to the quaint homely feel of home cooked foods on the inside. We were attended and seated right away mind you it was late evening with an hour before close. They have real horchata salvadoreña, and freshly made pupusas revueltas along with curtido y salsa de tomate, you know they make them upon order when they have that melted cheese everyone fights for at the table. My eyes were more hungry than what our stomachs could could handle. We ordered pupusas, platanos con frijoles y crema, lomo saltado(reminded me of when my grandma would maake bisctec con papas fritas) y chow mein those dishes are big and we were sharing but still ended up with take-out. Definitely a place to come back to for their wide selection of foods and beverages.

This place has everything you need! Amazing food, super friendly service, plenty of parking, great music, and decent prices. The tortillas and pupusas are sooo good! All the dishes we tried were great. I will definitely be coming back here to try more plates!

Amazing and quick service! I love the horchata and the pupusas de loroco y queso were delicious. The platano y casamiento plate that my sis ordered was so good too. The platanos were perfectly sweet!

Great food great selection great service. The pupusa's were huge and stuffed with ingredients would definitely come back here again, and the beer was ice cold and the prices are very reasonable.

Pupusa Ahogada / Wet Pupusa Plátano con Frijol y Crema / Plantain with Bean and Cream Yuca Frita / Fried Cassava Costillas Asada

First time at this gem. Ordered - 2 pupusas, Costillas, Platano frito & more Food was packed with flavor. Great choice will be returning.

The best pupusas around can be found here at Loroco Bistro. Plenty of indoor seating and a wide menu to choose from. If they would only turn the music down a little, this place would be perfect.

I went on a 4 mile walk on the Whittier Greenway Trail, and decided to treat myself to some pupusas…read moreon my way back. I had a pupusa revuelta and a pupusa de frijol y queso. Both hit the spot. The pupusas were fresh (I could hear them being made) and they had aguas frescas, my favorite de melón. I think I'll Make this a habit :)

I really wanted to like this place. This was my second time ordering from them through Uber Eats…read more The first time, I ordered because they were running a buy-one-get-one-free breakfast special. They forgot the cheese I paid extra for, but the food itself was so good that I was willing to overlook it and order from them again. Unfortunately, today's experience was completely different. The order took quite a while to prepare, which I don't blame on the delivery driver at all. I could see that he was waiting at the restaurant for an extended period, so I assumed they were just busy because of the promotion. When the food arrived, however, there were pieces of eggshell in the scrambled eggs. Even worse, while my boyfriend was eating his plátanos fritos, he found a hard piece of plastic in the food. Thankfully, he noticed it and was able to pull it out before swallowing it or getting hurt. I called the restaurant directly and also reported the issue to Uber Eats. I'm not writing this because I'm looking for free food or because I want to hurt a family-owned restaurant. I spent over $90 between the food, fees, and tip, and I ordered again because I genuinely enjoyed the food the first time. But finding hard plastic in someone's food crosses a line from an order mistake to a serious safety concern. Promotions and busy days happen, but food safety and basic quality control still have to come first. Unfortunately, after this experience, I would say eat here at your own risk. We were lucky enough to notice the plastic before someone was seriously hurt.

I have been gatekeeping this business because it's my go-to pupusa spot and I'm here to make it…read moreright. The pupusas here are so freaking good. Not too greasy, just the right amount. My favorite thing to get is the Rapidito. It comes with two smaller size pupusas (but still pretty big IMO, a side of frijoles, and platano frito!!! You can request the pupusas with ANY filling. It hits the spot! I get that to go for lunch. It comes with curtido - so good - and salsa. It's one of those comfort foods, ya know? Pupusas isn't the only thing they sell, either. They have a full menu of a variety of food. I've never actually ate there. The dining hall is quite big and looks comfortable. I see older folk there so you know it's good. They have TVs and I'm not sure if they have a full bar but they serve something. I spotted plantain chips in a bag on top of a case of pan dulce that looked good too. I feel like this would be a nice spot to chill, have good food and a beer or something. Today, I ordered two Rapiditos on the Yelp app but it didn't let me choose the filling of the pupusas, so I called. They knew exactly what I was talking about. They told me they'd tell la Señora. Do they have someone's grandma back there making pupusas?! No wonder they're so good! And she hustles, too, because when I got there, I sat down ready to wait but they were packing up my order. Took less than 5 minutes!

My meal was around 50 and my total was almost 80 and they never came to check on us, I had to get up and ask for stuff constantly at the counter. The interior seemed a bit dated and wasn't anything too impressive. The booth seating also felt pretty cramped, so I'd recommend sitting at one of the regular tables if you have the option. The food itself was pretty decent, especially for the price. However, we ordered the Super Plato Tipico and noticed that a few of the items that were supposed to come with it were missing. When we asked our server about one of the missing items, she immediately replied, "Your tamale? Yeah!" which made it seem like she already knew it hadn't been brought out. I would've appreciated it if she had mentioned that the kitchen was behind or let us know the missing items were still coming instead of waiting for us to notice and ask. Overall, the food was affordable and satisfying, and I'd come back for the pupusas. The service was friendly, but communication about the missing items could definitely be improved.

Tthe interior must once be decent back in the 80s since the upholstery of the booths look like it was once an ihop. There aren't too many salvadoran places so if you crave salvadoran food this is probably it. i ordered the Bistek Special with plantains and my friend got the Plato Tipico (which comes with a variety of samplers to try like pupusa, yucca, etc. I think if it's your first time trying this type of food, it's probably best to order the Plato Tipico since it provides a nice variety. For the most part, the food was pretty good. Although, you do need to be okay with slightly tougher fried yucca. While tasty, make sure you have good quality dentures. The Bistek Special was also pretty good but it didn't offer the same type of true Salvadoran experience.
