The cake we received did not match our expectations at all. We asked for a pallet knife design on a chocolate raspberry cake. Her quote for a two tier was ~20% more expensive than other bakers but because she said she had experience we went with her. I had sent two emails a week before the event asking for confirmation she was still okay to make it, provided lists of flowers we were using for the wedding, color scheme and multiple reference photos. The cake itself was just fine, though the buttermilk was extremely thick. My experience with Lori was more like something from the TV show "Nailed it". I ordered a cake from her own Instagram account which I am posting the photo with this review, I asked her to make it PASTEL colors and specifically said, lavender, white, pink, gray with small hints of aquamarine. The final product was a sloppy decorated orange color cake with green and yellow accents. The girl on the cake looked so weird and the balloons and arrangements looked horrible. Not only the cake looked nothing like what I ordered, the colors were way off, the worst was the actual cake that tasted and smelled like raw eggs. My whole clubhouse kitchen , my daughter's clothes and our hands smelled so bad we to cleaned up with Lysol and bleach. We ended up putting the whole cake in the trash because no one could eat it. I ordered hazelnut and almond flavors and the cake was raw egg flavor. Lori was also non-responsive and had poor communication throughout. I ordered my wedding cake from here, because my theme was Nightmare Before Christmas and I knew I wanted a very detailed, extravagant cake. Her website seemed like the perfect match and price really wasn't a concern for me, so long as I got the cake of my dreams. However, the cake I got was nothing like the cake we discussed. I've posted 2 photos of what she said i was going to get and a photo of the actual cake. I showed her a few sample cakes that I really liked, she cut and pasted some pictures of those sample cakes together, saying that is what my cake would look like, but in my wedding colors. To give you an idea of what I wanted, if you Google Nightmare Before Christmas wedding cakes, you'll see some amazing cakes. Even on her website, she had one that was for a birthday (she sent it to me as a sample of what to expect - I added that photo to this review), so I didn't think what I was asking for would be any issues. Unfortunately, when I saw it, I couldn't have been more disappointed. The colors were... bland and boring. The decorations were worse. Instead of painting the scene from the movie, with the landscape curling mountain, they drew maybe 4 swirls that didn't look like anything. No scene at all, no characters. One of the layers was supposed to be like a corset (that's what my dress was), but you couldn't tell what it was. The decorations were sad, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING like her website, and definitely NOT worth what I paid for that cake, $1200!!!!! Not to mention the flavors, gross!!!!!! Every layer was supposed to be different, with 2 of the layers being a couple of her "special wedding flavors" (you can find them on her website, with a type of alcohol rubbed on the cake, a layer of caramel or chocolate along with the frosting). Not for me. Every single layer tasted the same: dense sugar flavor. There was no caramel layer, no alcohol flavor in the cake. None of them tasted like the tastings we received. I don't know about the chocolate layer cuz that's the top tier that we're saving for our 1 year anniversary but we're only doing that for traditional, I thought about skipping it so I'm not reminded in a year how terrible the cake was. DO NOT LET HER WEBSITE FOOL YOU! Her cakes look NOTHING like those cakes on her site, nothing like those pieces of art. It looked like a child decorated it. And trust me when I say, you can find someplace with much better flavors. I should have gone to Flour Power. At least they offer fruit flavors. read more

It actually pains me to write this review because I have no doubt that Lori's cakes are amazing, based solely on the photos. I love the cakes that Lori posts to social media and reached out to her to make our custom wedding cake. Initially she was pretty prompt in responding to the facebook message I sent her and we had a good conversation about the design of the cake I wanted and she said she was excited to make it for us and would have a sketch to us on Monday. Monday came and went, I followed up towards the end of the week and she was radio silent. After another few days she finally responded saying she was having computer issues and asked for my email so she could email the sketch. I provided my email and she didn't respond to the message and she also didn't send an email. I waited a few more days before I came to yelp and saw another similar post and her response was to call. So I called and left voicemails on two separate days. No response. I finally texted her and got a response from her saying that she was having computer and email issues and that was why I hadn't received any responses and that she couldn't answer my calls because of teaching classes. OK. So I asked if she could provide my quote via text. She said yes and she would get to me as soon as she finished her deliveries. That was last Tuesday. I have sent her multiple texts since then and have not gotten any response. My wedding is in less than two weeks and at two points in this process I offered her an out that if she wasn't able to and or not interested in making the cake to let me know so I could find a different baker. She either said she did and would send the sketch or went silent. I don't know about other brides, but being ghosted by a baker is super stressful and a headache I absolutely didn't need at this point. I understand she is running a small business and managing business and baking can be difficult, but the lack of communication blaming tech issues while she continued to post photos of her cakes to social media actually really put me off. Lucky for me another independent baker has stepped up and graciously fit us into her calendar to take care of the cake on short notice in a professional and prompt manner. If you can get her to communicate I'm sure she's great, but for me, attempting to coordinate a cake with Lori was time consuming on my end and what I was hoping would be an amazing one of a kind cake experience from a talented baker has ended in disappointment. read more
