Not easy to find one of these on the way home from where I live and then I saw this one on 2nd. I needed an air filter, and they checked the system the first time and didn't have one, said they would order it in if I wanted it the next day, I told them not to worry about it. I come back 2 weeks later and the guy who originally was helping me still remembered me, and I was lucky they had one... but as they said, they were surprised too that they didn't have one to begin with last time as it's one of those air filters that most cars use. They can also check their other stores to see how much stock they have instead of you making any wild goose chase. If your someone who likes to tinker with their own automobile and needs something, they probably have it, all after-market but they will also give you alternatives when you ask, and tell you what the difference is. If you can't find what your looking for the drill is to walk all the way to the back wall, there you will see a whole bunch of computer terminals and guys behind there, tell them what your looking for, they search their system if they have it, walk to the back to get the right part, bring it to you, send the invoice to the front of the store, pay, and your on your way. If your an automotive student, I know you get discounts. I like their hours, cause you never know when you do need something here, and business hours just don't do for myself when it comes to this kind of stuff. It's a do-it-yourself kind of thing, and here's where you start when it comes to automotive stuff... forget Canadian Tire.. come here. Especially if your close to downtown. I used to love shopping at lordco, until I tried to return two batteries that were bran new, 3 year warranty on the batteries. Not even a year old. Sean at smithers lordco would not let me return or replace the batteries because I had no receipt in my hand, even though these batteries were bought on an account at lordco, serial numbers on the batteries, all the info is right there in the computer. A week later Sean the manager at smithers lordco sold me the incorrect water pump for my engine, and would not let me return the water pump either because I bolted it to the engine.(slight wear marks where the bolts go) I am completely pissed with the crap shoes Sean at Smithers Lordco. Bought a cabin filter and an engine air filter in Clearbrook location. Seemed a little high in price so I checked the identical purchase I made 10 months earlier and found they charged me $15 more this time. Went in and to talked to a rep who told me I had had to spend $10000 to get the original discount. When I asked why I was given the better discount the first time he said I would have to ask the original rep who wasn't working that day. What?? Like I am going to go back and do his job. This Lordco has a reputation of being the worst for a reason. Staff have attitudes and I did not find them helpful at all. I will take the extra drive to the sw marine drive location even though this one is in my neighbourhood, I don't like shopping at a place where I'm treated like I don't know what I'm doing when I've likely been turning wrenches for longer than all of the staff here combined. I use to think lordco's customer service was the best and buy all my car needs like pia lights, car wash items, fuses, everything you could name for my vehicle and I would send all my friends there. After today, my opinion of lordco has gone down the drain with their return policy. I purchased last week on Friday at around 5:20pm two sets of wipers. One for my car another for my partners. I realized today while driving with them, they were faulty and I stopped off at the store and showed them the wipers as it rained. You can't see well as a driver. The service person said we can't do anything without a receipt, I explained I'm in north Vancouver and its raining. The only suggestion she had buy another wiper and bring your other one back and we will give you a store credit. I had her repeat it and questioned her about it as a client, I don't want a store credit as I have the time stamp of purchase. Dear lordco, fix your return policy procedures especially when you put clients in a situation like this. This isn't customer service especially when it's raining and they only give opinions of purchasing additional merchandise and they will give you store credit for the defective part once returned or the other option drive back to north van with limited vision. Many mechanics I know use lordco for their parts. I see their little cars buzzing around delivering parts . When some things I need & I can do myself I too go to lordco for parts. Ive been to this one & douglas st in burnaby. Both pretty much the same service. Need a part see parts counter they look it up you pay at cashier & p/u your part. Sometimes the dealer discontinue parts for my 94 chev van but lordco still has parts. Pretty good parts too. Example: Lockset $50 incl tax. Assembled in Mexico not China. Any place is better than China. If they stoop so low as to mix melamine into baby formula you can rest assure auto parts would be tainted w other crap to make it break down faster. Mexican parts I think are ok compared to Chinese parts. Still the part was cheaper than the dealers part which came fr China & no wonder it didnt last. Oh if you work for a company that has a fleet you might get a % discounted or try giving your mechanic as a reference. Just pay in cash & square off your bill. Not only will you find lordco to have the highest prices on parts(up to and over 100% more than say wes can). I can now say the service is crap. Waited at a parts counter in newton for 10 minutes when the guy who mixes the paint finished with the customers color he comes out at 5 minutes to six out of uniform ignores me and leaves. Sat there for 10 minutes while some parts guys sits on the phone chatting with his buddy about his weekend. I guess if you pay peanuts you get monkeys. Asked the cashier as I was leaving if there was a manager there she says yaa he's here. I wasn't about to get a song and dance or wait another 10 minutes for the manager to come out, it would have been a half hour waste of my time to just get a bunch of lip service. Please check around on prices compare anything from a spark plug to air filter and you will see what I mean about their prices. Service is garbage. Do they care about service or customers time NO THEY DON'T just read the other reviews and experience it for yourself if you like.
