I am so happy with my visit!! I was experiencing some pain where a wisdom tooth was coming in. I looked on-line through my insurance, Delta Dental, and found this. I called them and there were able to take me THAT DAY!! I was nervous to go in since the last time I went to my dentist was years ago. ::I started this review in February and forgot to finish:: Ok, a lot has happened since my first visit in February. Well wisdom teeth up top are OUT and I've had two cleanings. I LOVE Lopez Dental and their whole team. Getting my wisdom teeth pulled was NOT an issue, people have told me it was painful and your face swells etc. It didn't hurt as bad as I thought, I didn't even need the pain meds after and I never got dry socket. It was such a pleasant experience, I had some swelling but nothing compared to the horror stories. Cleanings are great too, the dental hygienist did a great job and even suggested I get a waterpik which I love! I am so glad I found this place, they're so kind and truly care about your teeth and YOU. read more

Staff was polite and welcoming at the front, made check in smooth and fast. Doctor took the time to go through my concerns without rushing. They listened well and gave some clear explanations about what might be going on. Took a few moments to ask follow up questions and didn't make me feel like I was just being pushed through. Such a great practice! I had chipped my crown, was dreading getting it replaced, and had put it off as long as I could. The staff at Lopez Dental took care of me, and honestly the experience was not as bad as I was expecting it to be (which is probably the highest compliment I can provide for replacing a crown)! The staff were all so friendly, including the receptionist Janel and the dental assistant Kim. Dr. Lin took care of me and explained each step as she was performing it and why certain decisions were made. The only dentist I've ever gone to and loved. They remembered everything about me when I came into the clinic both times (both my field of study and that I was from Texas). They are such a kind, intentional, family practice. They took the time to really explain procedures to me and give me follow-up care tips. Both father and daughter are committed to dental inequities in their area. Some reviews noted they could use some updating, but I think they are committed to keeping costs low for their patients (at least they were for me, comparatively to other places). I've been to "fancier" dentists, common for such a heavily privatized field, who are terrible to their patients and have exorbitant pricing. Did not find that here. Such a gem for the bay area which is otherwise tech and wealth obsessed. read more

I first visited Lopez Dental before Thanksgiving 2022. Dr. Devon wasn't able to even pull my tooth. I found out the hard way that they have no nitrous, no modern equipment or capabilities. They obviously don't have the resources to keep up technologically or in their attitudes which scream 1950's. After she literally stabbed me over a dozen times and completely inflamed my dental problem she dismissed me and didn't have the ability to prescribe any pain medication. Nice!!!! How can they expect to meet the needs of today's dental consumers when they can't even address a simple dental emergency ? Go get some more schooling and come out of the 1950's or put up your outdated equipment and call it quits. read more

I made an appointment in November 2023. They were booked out until January 31st, 2024. Two days prior to my appointment, they verified my dental insurance to find out they cover the PPO and not the DPO plan. My beef is why they waited 2+ months to verify wasting my time and their loss of revenue. read more

I have been going to Lopez Dental for 22 years. Their focus is helping me keep my original teeth, in their best possible condition, for as long as possible. When I first showed up at their office, I hadn't seen a dentist in years, and they got my gum disease cleared up and filled all the cavities I had accumulated. They gave me an excellent orthodontic referral and, over the years since that time, they have helped me understand and maintain my now-excellently-aligned teeth. It's a family-run business and their children (who were kids when I first started going there), have grown up, finished their schooling, and become excellent dentists in their own right. Let me start off by saying I had neglected going to the dentist for some time now. My initial examination had me a little distraught about the condition of my teeth. The relieving thing was the treatment plan Dr. Lopez presented to me. I have already visited multiple times this year and have had nothing short of a great experience every time. My teeth feel like they have never been better and I can feel the experience all of the doctors have. They definitely know their stuff! Everyone here treats me like family and I can't imagine trusting anyone else! Its always a good thing when everyone here has a sense of humor too :) There are plenty of dentists in my area, but I make the 30 min drive to their office because its totally worth it! read more

Found them through my insurance's listings and was looking for a small family practice in Mtn View/Sunnyvale. Super friendly office, great staff, easy to get setup, and very accessible office. This is my second visit here to have a tooth cavity fixed. One week ago, I had my dental exam and cleaning. It took them a long time to clean my teeth, partly due to my poor dental care during the past years. Today, I was again surprised by how much effort Dr. Devin Lopez put on just one tooth filling. Then, I realized that they really care about us and they are trying their best to help us. Meanwhile, their team has excellent skills, which reminds me of my experience 20 years ago in Beijing, China. I went to the Dental School of Peking University, which was one of the best in China, like UCSF School of Dentistry. The procedure was assigned to a medical student. After the first injection of local anesthetic, she found it not effective. She made a second injection, still not very effective. So her professor came, he hold her hand and guided her to push the needle into the tissue in my mouth, slowly and with instructions like "go in, turn left and then down ..., there it is". Then astonishingly, the professor pulled the needle all the way out without injecting anesthetic and told the student: "Now. Try again!" During the entire process, I had no choice to stay calm and keep smiling, because the medical student was more nervous than I was. Hopefully, my story makes you a bit less stressed about searching for your dream dental care. And I believe Lopez Dental is one of your best. read more

Had my first half year cleaning at this office after moved to this area, and will never go to there again. First, even for a new patient, the dentist will only show up at the very end, for only 5 minutes, all the procedures are done by one of his auxiliary, and only a single person. I'm not sure if this even ok with the California code for dentists. After the 5 min show up, they will do x-ray for you, and that appointment ends there. Second, I made an appointment for a half year cleaning, but found out they actually billed me for deep cleaning, which my insurance company does not fully cover. I had done a deep cleaning 2 years ago, which you really knew it's a deep cleaning, you could feel the comprehensives. not like this one. you didn't know that until you see the bill! And yes, they didn't let me know, and i felt no difference with my previous normal cleaning. I founded out i did a deep one only in the bill. And the last, I'm not sure how long my review can stay here. Several one-star reviews disappeared since last time i checked this page, including one guy said they hurt his cheek. Interestingly, I also felt one spot of my cheek was hurting after come back from their office. Maybe they're getting everything done by a single person, harder for that one to keep everything taken good care of? Good job! my review disappeared in only one day! Posting again! read more

After 5 years of coming here, my wife, myself and our son will not return. We were 10 minutes late this morning for our 22 month-old son's appointment. I called to let them know we would be 10 minutes late out of courtesy. We were late because I had a crucial meeting to attend, PLUS my wife injured her arm and it took her longer to get ready in the morning. So what happens when you show up 10 minutes late with a 22-month old? Well, the receptionist informed my wife that she'd already rescheduled our son for an appointment one hour later, and that she called my wife to let her know. Really? My wife is supposed to take a call in the car, on the freeway, 5 minutes before the appointment start time? Never, ever bring a child here. I suppose that's why they treated us this way... to spread the word that children and parents with real-life challenges are never welcome. Have fun in your perfect world, guys. read more

I have gone to Lopez DDS for about 10 years. They're really, really nice, effective, helpful, thoughtful, reasonable. They're pretty flexible in terms of insurance. Everyone who works there really knows what they're doing and works well with their patients. Scheduling appointments is flexible and considerate of busy schedules! *Just wanted to update my review to say that with the addition of the younger Dr. Lopez and another hygienist there is no longer a long wait for non-emergency appointments* Dr. Lopez was my husband's family dentist and when I married into the family I inherited the dentist too ;-) I personally really like him and his wife and staff. They always greet us warmly and have a real personal approach. I'd love visiting him more if I wasn't prone to cavities ;-) He's skilled and efficient at filling them, but no one can make that fun. There's a long wait for basic appointments, but they'll get you right in if it's urgent. My 2 year old son broke his front tooth and we were seen within the hour. They sanded down the sharp edges and followed up to make sure the roots weren't damaged. We bring our son in for regular checkups and they've always worked well with him. read more

Dr Lopez is the best dentist I've ever had. He's genuinely concerned about your health and not just his bank account like a lot of dentists seem to be. I first went to him about 5 years ago and had some major stuff done. He totally went out of his way to make sure that I was comfortable and doing well after the procedure- personally calling me twice later that week to make sure I was recovering well. I ended up going anyways and was very happy with the service: * This is a family run office with Dr. (Mr.) Lopez Sr., Dr. (Mrs.) Lopez (his wife), and Dr. Lopez Jr. (I was told their son recently joined the practice. * I was seen my both Dr. Mr. and Dr. Mrs. Lopez. Both (but esp. Mrs. Lopez) seemed to go an additional mile to explain everything they were doing, why they were doing that, and in cases where my mouth was less than optimal, what I could do to improve in minute detail. * Wait time was less than a couple minutes (I had an appointment). * They both have been dentists for a very long time and aren't very technically savvy when it comes to computers, which explained their lack of a website. (Apparently, they only recently moved to electronic records). However, when it comes to knowledge of innovations in dental technology, they seemed to be up to date. I was told they recently did hire someone to make a website. * Anyways, I had a really good visit, the doctors seemed to take personal care, and were very nice. I love this place. Wonderful family practice. So much in fact that I drive 30-45 minutes out of my way to this office for cleanings, and searched for years to find such a good dentist in the Bay Area. The hygienists are the best and most thorough with cleanings of all the offices I've been to and the entire staff are just great. Dr. Lopez is a normal, friendly guy that doesn't see dollar signs or Ferraris when someone walks through the door. He does this because he cares about your health and it's obvious when you come here a few times and see how they treat you. The hygienists spend more time deep cleaning with scalars than most offices (the main reason I come for a bi-annual cleaning) and I am often told my teeth are white/clean by friends/family. I think quite a bit of that is due to Dr. Lopez and his team. I was sad to see a couple reviews complaining that they only saw Dr. Lopez for a small percentage of the time they were at a cleaning -- what they may not realize is they have come to this office for a cleaning, an appointment with a hygienist, not a 1 hour meeting with a dentist... something I've never heard of in all my years of visiting dentists. He supervises and checks the work of his staff, and verifies the health of your mouth and teeth based on what the others told him with their ~30+ minute cleaning. I would pay DOUBLE what they charge me for cleanings if I had to, and can't imagine how people don't see value in the dedicated time the hygienists spend on my teeth for a reasonable amount of money. As for the man (Tom S) who gave a 1-star review because he was late for his appointment, I think his should be ignored/deleted as it's an unfair representation of the service offered here. You missed your appointment and would've thrown off the entire schedule for the whole team. It's not their fault you had a "crucial meeting" and your wife injured herself. How selfish to say they deserve a minimum score because you had a bad day. Just make another appointment and next time, leave the house earlier! read more

I've been coming to their office for over 15 years. I live in Mountain View, so it's very convenient for me. Susan does a great job examining and cleaning my teeth every time. Michael does the final exam, after conferring with Susan. It's usually a pretty short visit, but whenever I have had issues, they've taken care of me and I've been completely satisfied with the service. The office staff are courteous and always call with a reminder prior to appointments. I highly recommend them to anyone in the area. read more

I've had several visits to the office so far and have been really happy with their entire range of services. First of all, they explain exactly what you need and why you need it. Whenever possible they show you exactly where a particular problem is. I verified a lot of what they said and found them to be honest and accurate. I've seen both Michael Lopez, DDS, and Susan Lopez, RDH, and they are both very friendly, intelligent, and skilled. They also remain very involved in the dental community and obviously keep their knowledge current by attending seminars, etc. The rest of the office staff is also friendly. They make an attempt to remember your name and your general history with them. They are also very helpful in dealing with the insurance and communicating the exact price to you. I've gone through many dentists and typically never go back, but I expect that I'll keep visiting this office for as long as I can! read more

While I was mostly satisfied with the care I received over the course of several visits, I won't be back to this particular dental office. The reason being, during my last visit, Dr. Lopez started to work on a small cavity without any anesthesia, and also without telling me that that's what he was doing. I don't care how busy they are - you need to tell the patient what is planned for that visit, and you absolutely should give the patient the option of having an anesthetic, no matter how small the cavity is. read more

This is a great practice. I've been going to them for many years, on the recommendation of a good friend. Wish I had found them sooner -- so many bad experiences with past dentist offices. But back to this particular practice and why I like it: They are practical. You visit as often as necessary -- they will tell you straight-up if you don't need to visit so soon. When something is wrong, they'll tell you how to correct it. If it's something you can't fix, they'll tell you what options you have and let you make the call. When they do the work, it's done well. Finally, they do the whole business. That includes dealing with the insurance company and negotiating how much you are going to pay. Fantastic. I don't like dentists. I don't like having my teeth worked over, or even having them cleaned. I do like keeping my teeth healthy and presentable. Lopez Dental does a great job, start to finish. For them, I'm almost willing to say that I like dentists. Almost. But not quite. Highly recommended. read more

Dr. Michael is just outstanding. He took excellent care of the pain in my tooth today, saw me right when I called. Dr. Devin is also my favorite. She did a spotless restoration in 3 teeth, the contact between the teeth were perfect (I'm not getting food stuck in the middle). They have been meeting my dental needs for 23 years, I even drove over from Santa Cruz when I moved away. Readily available for after hours concerns, calls to follow up after procedures, family friendly (some pediatric offices are too stimulating for children to sit still), and very nice people! I have always been afraid of doctors and dentists, but not with Dr. Lopez. Everyone's so friendly there, you feel like you've been going for years. I had to get stitches in my lip, and the day I got them was the same day my wisdom tooth decided to make an appearance. Oh joy. So, I couldn't open my mouth wide enough to brush really well, and the area got extremely sore. No amount of painkillers could ease the pain I was in. The very next morning, I drove to Dr. Lopez's office and asked if there was anything they could do to help me. He brought be to the back right away and rinsed it with a syringe. As if that wasn't enough, he gave me a syringe to take home so I could keep flushing it until I was able to brush really well. He also gave me his cell phone number in case I needed help after hours! What a guy! Definitely the best dentist I've ever had! I just switched insurance companies, and was thrilled when I learned I could still go to him. :) read more

I have been to many dentist, this is the worst one. Will never go there again. (1) They make you (the customer) feel that they are doing you a great favor to service you (2) Dr. Lopez will spend less than 5 mins on the patient and leave it to his wife to do 99% of his work (3) Even for the first appointment, the wife sent Dr. Lopez to the gym, and he barely spent less than 5 mins (4) Their systems are outdated, still with old technologies and film based x-rays. (5) After cleaning, the dentist suggested some cavity filling, but led to 2 root canals immediately. When called the office to report the pain and they don't have any backup, they made me wait for many days dealing with pain (since they dont have appointments) and finally I was sent to another dentist ( the dentist was out of town apparently ), who charged (hefty) again for just a checkup and I ended up paying 2500$ more than my insurance coverage to recoup the damage Dr. Lopez caused. What a nightmare dealing with these folks. Dentist profession is quite established practice, but please don't call them knowledgable, they don't keep up with the current medical improvements and still live in the old world. There are better dentist in the area, and would highly recommend finding someone else for a better service who keeps customer service in mind and don't charge you for their mistakes like this one. I normally very forgiving and I couldn't help but put an alternate perspective, which is my true experience. read more

I had my first visit to Dr. Lopez and Mrs. Lopez was my hygienist. She was very friendly and also brutally honest, which I actually quite appreciated. She showed me where my problem areas were, and showed me how to brush there better. Their office is a bit "old school", without many of the newer technologies (e.g. X-rays are done on film, no digital displays to see cool pictures of your teeth), which would be one of my only few complaints. Dr. Lopez himself seemed very nice and was gentle until he grabbed my tongue and gagged me with the little mirror! Apparently he was checking my throat, but a little warning would have been nice! Overall though, it was a very good experience, and the whole office had a very friendly, family run feel. I've had my share of hagglers as dentists, but Dr. Lopez seems very nice and trustworthy. I had a horrible experience with this dentist. The hygienist was okay, but the dentist, Mr.Lopez, is the worst dentist I ever had, because: 1. I had an appointment for a very small filling, but during this procedure he scratched my cheek and didn't even apologize for this. He only asked me what just happened, because I jumped on the chair. I didn't know what happened because I didn't have a mirror. I thought it was just something during the procedure. After this I had an appointment with the hygienist and something outside was hurting me all the time. Finally, in my car I saw in the mirror that my cheek was scratched. Even hygienist didn't ask me what happened to my cheek.. 2. While working he was total arrogant, because firstly he did not explain me what he was doing. Professional dentists always explain what they are doing. Secondly, after he finished with my only one filling he didn't ask me and he didn't give me a painkiller injection he just started on my front tooth doing another filling. I didn't even need another filling. He did this without asking me. Then when he finished the work with this front filling he did not even look at the device to keep the tooth, because he was too busy to talk to another person. So, I am not even sure if this filling was well done or not. But I didn't needed another filling. 3. I think that this dentist is not honest person, because I paid a lot. It was so expensive. I think he was doing everything to take as much money from patients as he could. He does not care about his patients, he cares only about money. I deeply regret that I had appointment with him. I do not wish anyone what I went through. This dentist is inhuman and he uses people to make money. He is not professional. 4. I don't like the place too, because it has a lot of different posters and pictures. It doesn't looked very clean to me. read more
