Firstly regarding the other review by "Zuber"....quite an unusual name. And happens to be the same name of their office person. Hmmm. So perhaps take that glowing review with a huge grain of salt. But leaving that aside for now...Communication was inconsistent at best. Firstly, after we paid the 50% deposit and committed to the project , we were told the work would commence on a certain date. They never showed up. Nor called. We were left to hunt them down and pester and harangue to get a new date/time. They then assured us it would be done by a certain date. That did not happen (it was actually completed a full three weeks after that date). The work was to take up to 2 weeks and instead took over 3 weeks. Not a HUGE deal, but again absolutely no communication. We had to keep phoning to see what was happening. But the real kicker was: we expected a replacement for existing fence (as agreed on and described on the work proposal that THEY created). However, when they "finished" the fence (it was not finished) it was a good four ft or so SHORTER than the original fence!! Bizarre. Wouldn't the first thing one would do is measure and know how long the fence ought to be? The original bottom part of the frame was in fact still visible in the ground, so we really could not understand how they could miss this (?!). OK, so (extremely stupid) mistakes were made. Fine. However, when they "added" the "additional" part to the fence, they then turned around and charged us more...or at least this is how it appears to us.Sadly we still do not know exactly how we wound up with a considerably higher final price, nor how that measurement error was made. The final product was otherwise nice looking. It does have this strange cut in the middle of the piece on top (which is quite visible) which should have simply been one longer piece...so that is a bit odd. If you expect to have clear communication, this is not your contractor. When we requested clarification on what had happened, they simply did not reply. Ever. Ignored us completely.ANd have been continuing to ignore us. It is six days later and still no reply. Since we are reasonable people and ethical, we paid the bill in full anyway. However, we do want other potential clients to know how sorry we are to have chosen this contracting company. Too bad, as we expect to undertake several major Renos in the coming yr...and IF our experience had been positive, we would have happily just stuck with the same company. His "senior wood expert" was btw very nice and seemed genuine and knowledgable. However the owner of this company leaves a lot to be desired. Clearly they are busy, but we are talking about a major expense for us here. The other review of this guy saying he was "nice as pie" until he gets his money seems accurate in our experience as well. Really disappointing. We were quoted one price, but at completion of project it was 18% more than the quote (the contract advises that the final cost could be expected to be up to 20% more than the quote). So ok...but WHY? The invoice btw demanded payment in full within only 2 days, though their own contract stated we had five days to pay from date of invoice. We never did hear back from them whatsoever. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I do not usually resort to negative reviews, and in fact this is the first one I have ever given! But in this case, it is important for others to know what they might encounter. These sorts of projects are certainly not cheap.OK, but they should not be a fiasco or unduly stressful and aggravating. read more
