The elevators are not great and often only 2/3 work. I think more transparency would be nice. 2) Showers start to flood within 30-seconds. It's gross and I, again, wish there was some transparency on why this isn't addressed. 3) The lack of outlets. This one is most frustrating as it seems to have the most straightforward solution. No outlets under the table in the library? Come on guys. Get a power strip or something please. Outlets by more seats on the 3rd floor mezzanine and terrace would be game changing! Please

Consider leaving anything important at home, and don't assume that a locked locker is necessarily secure. A close friend of mine had their credit cards and driver's license stolen from a locked locker. Within an hour, hundreds of dollars in fraudulent purchases were made. According to my friend, a man posing as a staff member who was "working out on his break" lingered in the men's locker room and broke into the locker while my friend was working out. What was particularly disappointing was the response afterward. My friend did not receive an apology from management, and staff declined to review the available security footage with him in an effort to identify the individual involved.

Her caring and instructions while I am exercising is top notch. I started taking spin classes again since my recovery for heart surgery and I find that I really enjoy Molly Barsh's class along with other instructors. Another reason is because the facilities are very clean. I constantly see Christian cleaning at east Passyunk location and Porsche and Dan when I am at ME. Please thank them for me. In person, on site, without any sort of friction. What followed has been nothing short of a nightmare, Despite having fulfilled every obligation on my end, City Fitness proceeded to fabricate a debt and relentlessly pursued me for payment -- including reporting me to credit bureaus for money I simply do not owe. This has had real consequences on my financial standing, and I find it completely unacceptable. To make matters worse, I received a direct email from their collections agency offering to "go away" if I paid a specific amount. That is not how legitimate debt collection works - that is coercion. If anything, it confirmed that this debt was never valid to begin with. For context, I ended my membership because the facility had no air conditioning and no cold water -- in the middle of summer!!! Basic amenities that are non-negotiable for any gym, let alone one marketing itself as a "premium" experience. City Fitness talks about building community and clean facilities. My experience tells a very different story. I would strongly caution anyone considering membership here to document every interaction, keep every receipt, and get every cancellation confirmation in writing. I am not the only person I know with similar issues!

I come…read more3-4 times a week to run on the treadmill, utilize their free weights, and bop around machines. The crowd is almost exclusively young professional neighborhood residents (Grad Hospital, Rittenhouse, Fitler, etc) since this is the only real gym option in the area. The sign up process is fine, you'll have to meet with membership and go through an array of hurdles in order to unlock the lower price rate, but the team is very nice and the price is fair for what you get - which is a super nice gym! I have not visited the other (nicer) locations but this location probably sits squarely at a 3.5 rather than 4. I like the machines but the class spaces are way too small and fill up very quickly. I do NOT go at peak times because there's simply no room on the floor. I look forward to checking out the new NoLibs location at some point and have friends who enjoy the Fairmount location a lot. I wish there were a few more class offerings. I thought there would be mat pilates and there really isn't true mat pilates offered at this location. I wish the sauna was housed inside of the locker rooms and also that the locker room itself wasn't so small. There have been an array of closures, updates, and improvements being made, but overwhelmingly it's been an easy option for my workout routine.

I worked for 24 Hour Fitness, NY Health and Racket Club, NYSC, Bally's, and 12th St gym. Some of the sales people, like Dom at Spring Garden, will say anything to sell a membership. When I went into the Spring Garden location with my 11 year to discuss with him correcting how he misrepresented the gym with my membership sale. Dom told my son when he is eighteen he will sell my son a membership. No class! City Fitness prides themselves on having the best. The truth is the best instructors are either at the new Sporting Club at the Bellvue or on their own. The Precore equipment they outfit their gyms with is trash. Planet Fitness supplies its gyms with Matrix equipment. Far superior, and they added 6-8 new plate loaded pieces that are top of the line. Before joining City Fitness consider ALL other option. Just my humbl and very well experienced advice. Stay fit and stay real

I…read morecame here when Penn's gym was closed and while there are a few other gyms nearby, this one was by far the cheapest. I believe they're moving to a new location soon which will have parking. Their Facebook is where they make most of their updates: it has their most recent hours and they recently started having classes again. I'd suggest joining when they have a deal going on. It's a really bare-bones, old school workout spot. It has everything that you need to get the job done and that's pretty much it. Downstairs is where most of the free weights and racks are, while upstairs has the cardio and weight machines. Their equipment is pretty worn and by midday, their weights are arbitrarily reracked and scattered. Unfortunately they don't have a ton of lighter dumbbells to workout with. They do have a bunch of weights that are insanely heavy and I've never seen anyone go near them. All in all, the gym has enough equipment for you to get in a full body workout and it meets standard expectations. TLDR: A bare-bones, old school workout spot that has enough for you to get in a workout, but don't expect fancy new equipment or anything flashy.

After having my daughter during the pandemic, I was by far at my highest weight and lowest fitness level. I had taken a few classes before the pandemic, and after seeing a post about special pricing for postpartum moms, I knew it was time to come back consistently. 5 months later, and I am so much stronger and happier in my body. It's easy to show up for a class when you know your instructors are going to support you, however you need that day. I'm so grateful for this community and cannot recommend RippedPHL enough.

It really pains me to write this review. I've been taking classes at RippedPHL since shortly after…read morethey opened. Of the various treadmill workout studios in the area that have come and gone over the years, it consistently was my favorite. It had been in my regular rotation for a while until they changed the Thursday night class that best fit in my schedule to a strength only class. Since I really like the treadmill portion I hadn't been here in several months. During that time they made some changes, and the class names changed. I was hoping it was just the names, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. I'll start by saying that I'm a runner - I run regularly, most often on trails with lots of hills. Although I am squarely a back of the pack, party pace runner. Ripped's treadmill programs have three options of increasing difficulty. They also have a high incline hiking option that I was excited about when they launched, but never ended up trying once I saw that it hits speeds of 4.0 MPH and higher. That's not a realistic hiking pace for me, especially when you're at double digit inclines. I've always found level 1 of the running programs challenging, but doable. Now, however, level 1 is significantly harder. When the first treadmill interval kicked off, instead of the usual 3.8 MPH warm-up pace, the level 1 warm-up pace had jumped to 4.5 MPH, which is a pretty significant increase. And it just got harder from there. At one point the speed was at 6.5 MPH, which used to be a flat road sprint speed for level 1, but this time we were mid-hill on a 5% incline and going up from there. The second tread set started off with 5.0 MPH as the warm-up. For level 1! That's not a warm-up for me - that's my race pace. I had to completely tap out with this new program. I know some people like the challenge of striving for goals out of reach and find that motivating, but I'm the opposite. If I wanted to try something harder and currently out of reach I could try levels 2 or 3. Finding myself completely unable to keep up with the lowest level option as someone who identifies as a runner outside of class, let me feeling really bad about myself. I used to leave these classes feeling tired and challenged, but confident and accomplished. I left this class feeling defeated and bad about myself. At a time when it seems like a lot of studios are making an effort to accommodate people at all levels of the their fitness journey, Ripped appears to be going in the other direction. And yes, I realize I can modify and reduce the speed or walk when I can't keep up, but those numbers I'm supposed to be attaining and failing to reach are right there in front of me challenging how I feel about my performance. One of the benefits of fitness classes for me is the boost they provide to my mental health, and that isn't going to help me think positively about my fitness journey and performance. If your approach to fitness is different than mine and/or you're further along on your fitness journey in terms of performance, I encourage you to try RippedPHL. It really is a great studio - the instructors are amazing and the front desk is always awesome and welcoming. And I'm assuming their regular members asked for this update and like the harder programs, which is why they've made the update. I wish the studio the best, I really do - we've lost too many fitness studios in Philly recently. But I feel like I stepped off the train for a minute and it sped away and left me behind. So I'm going to have to explore other options that work better for me for where I am on my physical and mental fitness journey.
