I quite enjoyed my time at he Bellevue for a while that it's done a complete 180 in the last…read moreseveral months. The good: Very big and nice facilities with amazing great variety of equipment. A TON of group fitness classes if you're into that including free reformer Pilates classes (if you can get in.) Issues (that are unacceptable in general or just completely insane to have at the membership price point...these are things you deal with a budget gym or someplace you go for free): Constant elevator issues which cause lines and long wait times during peak hours. And for the last 6+ months they've only had two of three functioning if that. You know it's an issue, fix it for goodness sakes. Good luck if you rely on parking here. The entrance are closed half the time causing you to have to detour for a good ten plus minutes to get in and then exiting you're stuck behind trucks delivering in the alley they've left "open" for you to get out. And yes the validate but they randomly increased the price from $11 to $12 one day. Not a huge deal but why not tell members in advance? It's just sloppy. The sound systems are suboptimal for group classes especially in the HIIT studio. It is a vibe killer for sure. The spa that we were promising was coming soon when we joined in November of 2023 is still nowhere to be found. The locker rooms are adequately maintained but there are so many privacy issues. Often there are signs that there will be men working in the women's locker room. And the phone use is NUTS. People are on video conference calls! How is this allowed?? The cafe hours stink for early birds. If I'm done with my workout before 7am and I want coffee, I'm SOL. It's also insanely expensive. I cannot speak for the food there because I won't eat it after I saw a mouse in the cafe area while I was working from there one day. Treadmills are constantly broken. They added a bunch and now there's somehow less available because they cannot seem to maintain them. Out of service for a day or two is one thing but it goes way longer than that. Good luck and Godspeed accessing an assault bike or a ski erg between 10:15 and 2pm on weekdays. They're fully monopolized by the turf class and the HIIT studio is used for classes including mat Pilates (??) Generally speaking maintenance seems to be an issue. A pedal was hanging off one of the two assault bikes on the main floor this week when I was using it. A tread was sticking a few weeks ago when I started to run on it. I couldn't strap my foot into a rower the other day. It doesn't seem like it would be too much to ask that they keep their eye on this. I do feel like it used to be under control but had fallen off a cliff recently. Too many people here are shooting footage for social media. I cannot complete a workout without being concerned I'm in the background of someone's selfie-video or photo shoot. Hotel guests have full access to the gym. It adds to the insane crowds on the weekend and needs to get in check. Many of the trainers and instructors are great but a handful of trainers that either do personal training or turf classes are flat out RUDE. I was treated disrespectfully and even bullied by one of them while minding my own business just trying to complete my workout. This is embarrassing for the gym and needs to be addressed. Ultimately, I could no longer justify being a paying member with so little care shown by management about the member experience. Perhaps spending less time posting less on social media and more time listening to an addressing member feedback would be helpful.

The gym is great and I'm happy. I'm a member, but there are a few issues that come up daily…read more 1) As many have noted, access to the gym is difficult. The elevators are not great and often only 2/3 work. I think more transparency would be nice. 2) Showers start to flood within 30-seconds. It's gross and I, again, wish there was some transparency on why this isn't addressed. 3) The lack of outlets. This one is most frustrating as it seems to have the most straightforward solution. No outlets under the table in the library? Come on guys. Get a power strip or something please. Outlets by more seats on the 3rd floor mezzanine and terrace would be game changing! Please

A lot of Temple students fill the gym during the afternoon, around 3 pm and onward. The parking situation is also another headache, it is limited to two hours with the threat of towing and is located a slight walk away. No on-site parking.

There is a…read morewide variety of equipment and machinery that you can use like squat racks, bench presses, isolation machines, cardio stuff, free weights, etc. That's if you go between those times. If you don't - good luck with that! After everyone gets home from work the gym is a mad house. Around 6 there are so many people you can hardly get a workout in sometimes, forget about doing the exercises you came there to do. The combination of the large variety of machines but few of each, huge amount of people, and limited space make it sometimes impossible to get on all of the machines and equipment you came for. For example, there are three stair masters. Now there are two because one has been broken for over a month (full disclosure: they did put up a sign saying they are working on it). Those are some popular machines! You literally have to wait behind them and hope the person on them gets off so you can get on it during peak hours. It can be pretty frustrating when your leg day has to turn into back day because hulk hogan won't get off the squat rack. That said, the people who lift there are all pretty experienced. I see a lot of athletes from different universities and body builders, both men and women. One time someone came over and helped me with my squat form. That was really nice of him. Unfortunately, that kind of setting can be intimidating for some people (like my gf). I think that's silly though. I did the trial of small group fitness classes. It kicked my butt! Great workout for sure. But the trainer sees me around the gym all the time and never says hello. I'm not feeling the love. The rest of the staff often yells to each other really loudly. Some trainer was yelling for no reason, just talking LOUDLY, with her clients during my workout today. It was really distracting and annoying. I don't need to hear your conversation from the other side of the gym. I think it's unprofessional. To be honest I'd leave the gym but they have me stuck in a year contract. I need a gym that I can rely on for a good workout, working machines, and good service!

My only issue is I really can't make out 70% of what the instructor is saying. I find it so hard to discern if she is talking to the people on the floor or the people on the treadmills, let alone what she is actually saying... but I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer so take that with a grain of salt. I just kind of look over at what my girlfriend is doing, and do +1 speed or just go straight by feel. I love the mix of weights and cardio, and there is nothing like pushing yourself on a treadmill to see your top speed. There is something so freeing in making the mental decision of "I'm either going to hit this speed or I'm going to hit the floor in front of this whole class. No in between." You can also order a smoothie to be ready right when you finish class, which is such an elite touch. Having my Slutty PB smoothie waiting for me after I just left my soul in the Barry's Red Room is what life is all about. Remember earlier when I said I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer? Well I just want to clarify something: I am sharp...and I am in the drawer. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov_reviews

The crowd is almost exclusively young professional neighborhood residents (Grad Hospital, Rittenhouse, Fitler, etc) since this is the only real gym option in the area. The sign up process is fine, you'll have to meet with membership and go through an array of hurdles in order to unlock the lower price rate, but the team is very nice and the price is fair for what you get - which is a super nice gym! I have not visited the other (nicer) locations but this location probably sits squarely at a 3.5 rather than 4. I like the machines but the class spaces are way too small and fill up very quickly. I do NOT go at peak times because there's simply no room on the floor. I look forward to checking out the new NoLibs location at some point and have friends who enjoy the Fairmount location a lot. I wish there were a few more class offerings. I thought there would be mat pilates and there really isn't true mat pilates offered at this location. I wish the sauna was housed inside of the locker rooms and also that the locker room itself wasn't so small. There have been an array of closures, updates, and improvements being made, but overwhelmingly it's been an easy option for my workout routine.

Dom told my son when he is eighteen he will sell my son a membership. No class! City Fitness prides themselves on having the best. The truth is the best instructors are either at the new Sporting Club at the Bellvue or on their own. The Precore equipment they outfit their gyms with is trash. Planet Fitness supplies its gyms with Matrix equipment. Far superior, and they added 6-8 new plate loaded pieces that are top of the line. Before joining City Fitness consider ALL other option.
