When my husband suggested going to Long John Silver's for lunch I thought he had lost his marbles. I was proven wrong and treated to a delicious meal. So the general manager over here shows discrimination to the people that she hires. I've tried to apply there many times I even got something that said somebody from the company will be reaching out to me never reached out through email or call or nothing and then when you talk to the general manager, she says stuff like well she don't be at the store all the time she be in and out she'll look at the application never look at it never get back to you never say nothing when the same way she go to work if a person applying for a job that means they need work too. They got a family. I think it's unprofessional. It's always an excuse with this GM or she never really get around to doing what she say she gonna do. 3pm - Not a single soul in the drive thru nor the dining area. Ordered a #7 and added 1 piece of fish. Almost $15 dollars and it doesn't even come with a drink. No other customers as I said and they couldn't even remember to give me the extra piece of fish. The fries were old, soggy and tasted like sh!t. Your job is not that hard! read more

I went into LJS's in Lake Station, IN at around 7:30 pm after a long day to order food for myself and the group I was working with. I went up to the counter and stated that I would be just a minute because I needed to view the menu. The young man behind the counter said that he didn't care and didn't want to take my order anyways. He and another young man walked towards the drive-thru laughing. I was tired and didn't want to deal with such rude treatment and went next door to Wendy's instead. I've never had a problem like that there before. read more

Reading the views for this place we decided to just give it a shot because why not? It was something my husband and I hadn't had in a long while so we pulled off to get some dinner. Wow, this place could use a good deep cleaning. The lady taking our order obviously did not want to be there and hated her job. The cups she handed us were wet on the inside so I rinsed mine out before using it. The root beer was flat and the mist twist was just as bad. We got our food To go for the road and once we pulled everything out, my husbands order was completely wrong. I would suggest making other dinner arrangements. read more

I came here last week and ordered the 2 fish taco meal. I brought it home and opened it up and there were 16 small fries and everything was cold. I did the survey online and told them what was wrong. The district manager called me and offered me a replacement meal. Today I went to get the replacement meal and the district manager was extremely rude to me. I was told to give them my name so I did. He went in the back and couldn't find it. He asked who I spoke to so I told him and he was real snarky. "Oh yeah I remember that phone call" "hurry up and get her her fish tacos" They did give me more fries this time but everything was still very cold. I do not care if I was offered free food for life I will not be going back and I do not recommend. read more

I haven't been a frequent LJS diner though I do get an occasional craving for fried seafood. I was curious to give this particular location a try. Mind you I haven't been to an LJS in some time. I walked in and the dining area was pretty spacious...everything looked like it was installed in the 80s but clean, which was good. The stories I would hear if the room could talk...*LOL*. So I went up to the counter and only saw one guy that had his hands in the batter preparing some fillets. Another lady dashed out of the back kitchen with a drive-thru order. It took a minute but the guy making the fillets said he'd be with me. He was very cordial as he took my order which was a combo of the chicken, fish, shrimp, and hushpuppies. I couldn't help but notice when I handed him my credit card to pay for the item that his hands were full of flour, which made me realize he didn't wear gloves while preparing the fillets. I may have to give a slight benefit of the doubt in that they were short-staffed so he normally doesn't take orders...but still. Disposable work gloves are so critical especially if you have to make food, handle cash, clean tables, etc. Such a no-no and the main reason for the two stars. As for the food, it was okay though after a while I got tired of the batter taste and soon started peeling it off. It reminded me why I don't hit LJS all that often. Oh well. read more

The food was pretty good, but for the all you can eat, they forgot to put some things on the plate. My real issue was the bathroom. The toilet looked like someone had died on It, and the trashcan was overflowing. The other issue was that I was ice skating on the floor. I don't know what they use in their mop water, but someone is going to slide and fall their way into a lawsuit. read more

I usually make it a rule not to write reviews for chain restaurants unless I get some kind of exceptional service or absolutely horse shit service and in this case, it is the latter. Ironically, this used to be an excellent location years ago, but now it has gone to the dogs. First off, I stop in just to use a coupon that I had and the meal included a side order for which I chose rice. And RuPaul behind the register tells me that there will be a 15 minute wait for rice. So I decided to wait. And I've never had Long John's rice before and I was assuming that it was some kind of rice pilaf or seasoned rice. I get home and all it is, is plain white rice! I'm like I waited 15 minutes longer than I had to for plain white rice?! If I would have known that, I would just have gotten green beans or extra hush puppies. However, knowing this place, there probably would have been a wait on those too. Then the chicken was absolutely DISGUSTING! The batter was soggy and falling off the chicken and the chicken itself was slimy! YUUUCK! Needless to say, I will never be back to this location again, if I go back to Long John's again at all. In all fairness, they did give me a free drink for my wait, but it's small consolation for the crappy food. All that did was help me wash down the crap! read more

In September 2017 while I was traveling from Wisconsin to MD, I stopped at LJS for dinner and help. Mr Tim Chase went above and beyond to help me. The rest of the staff there were cheerful, the service was great as well as what I ordered. The dining area was spacious and clean. I recommend this LJS to anyone looking for good food and service.
