    The perfect little afternoon treat
    Mike F.

As a kid, Mom dictates where you eat. Or Dad, if he's still in your life. Ok, my dad was still there when I was a kid, but Mom still decided. That's kind of what my married friends are figuring out now. When I was little, my mom liked to go out to restaurants that served hush puppies. Therefore, my family liked to go out to restaurants that served hush puppies. When we didn't feel like spending hours at one of those "sit down" restaurants, we'd shamble over to the local Long John Silver's. That local Long John Silver's is now 22 miles away. Having the urge to take a trip down memory lane, I drove my fat ass down there to get a side order of hush puppies and also the, um, SIXTEEN PIECE FAMILY FEAST EXTRAVAGANZA. So, naturally the order was completely screwed up and was missing eight pieces of fried, flaky fish and golden brown, crispy chicken. Stupid me didn't realize this until I got home. 22 miles away. After a good cry, I reached out to LJS on FB and explained to them what happened. I left out all the emotional family flashbacks, because how silly would that be? Talking about that on social media and sharing it with the world... hahahaha that would be so stupid. Back in '88 was the first time my mother pelted me with a hush puppy. First one was a warning shot, right across the bow. I casually ignored it. Big mistake. Next one caught me right between the eyes. Now that I'm a grown ass man, I don't get assaulted by hush puppies - I eat them by the dozen. LJS corporate agreed to reimburse me for another entire SIXTEEN PIECE FAMILY FEAST EXTRAVAGANZA. A 22 mile drive later (44 round trip), I had sixteen pieces of fried deliciousness all to my self. I did it. Mom, I did it. What goes around comes around. I can now eat hush puppies in peace. Along with my emotions. When I first started writing this review, I gave it two stars. But after writing all of this, I realized this place is a three. Thanks for letting me find myself. I have found peace.

Seafood, fries and hush-puppies on hold too long. Breading tough and chewy, one hush-puppy rock hard, fish and shrimp tasteless.

With the Taco Bell menu, you can order either from the kiosk or register, but if you are ordering Long John Silvers, it's from the register only. The LJS menu is limited compared to other locations, and if you want the full menu, you'll need to continue driving up to the Long John Silver's/A&W in Pottsville. The food here is fine, but the service and waiting times leave a lot to be desired. They are always slow, despite being well staffed. Overall, there's better locations in the surrounding area for both restaurants.

After finally, getting my order in (people in front of me were very slow) I waited for almost 25 minutes for my food. It wasn't until a Door Dash driver complained and another customer demanded to see a manager did the manager come up front from somewhere in the back (he had been NOWHERE to be seen before that) to tell us their computer system had gone down and they lost a bunch of orders from the drive thru. Sorry Mr. Manager, that's simply crappy customer service. Just come out and be honest. And the Door Dash driver I mentioned waited a total of 33 minutes. No apologies, no discount, no offer of a couple free items...nothing.

Foot-long steak sandwich for $16!?!? I know prices have inflated but any restaurant & sub shops…read moredon't even charge this for their steak sandwiches that are massive & hefty filled with meat let alone having such commercialized low quality meat with a fast food franchise. It was already bad enough that the ingredients that were supposed to come on the sandwich was out as well & their lettuce I wanted was all brown & discolored that I was shocked they even put it on clear display. My sandwich was so flat because they definitely downsized the meat portion & limited choices of topping add-ons while also inflating the price. IF it did taste fantastic I wouldn't have had an issue as it was a shocking purchase but to disappointment, the sandwich had a very plastic like taste which im guessing was from the bags of where the veggie toppings come from. I decided to check SUBWAYS national sandwich prices & this was no where near what they charge so this is definitely FRANCHISE owner decision to rip people off. I didn't get to see the signage display of prices as they have it so small in lettering/numbers that I just ordered it assuming it wouldn't cost more than $11-$12 which is still pretty high without any additional meat or special add-ons. You can get FULL BLOWN entrees at any restaurant these days that aren't fine dining for the price they charged. Sucks to see someone run a franchise to rip all the locals off who have kept them up & running for years in Hamburg, PA. But if things arent changed there's NO WAY they're going to stay open too long.

I'll be honest, I didn't know much about this place going in, but I'm really glad I went and I'll definitely be back. Walking in, the first thing you'll notice is a beautiful, large fish tank built right into the wall on your right. The restaurant is dim and upscale-feeling, but still very family-friendly and not loud or overstimulating, so you can actually have a conversation. They have both booths and tables, and the space is very open and spread out. As a parent, you can even strategically seat your family in view of the fish tank or the windows to give the kids something to look at. It's great for a casual family dinner, a date night, or even a birthday celebration. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible with no ramps, you can roll right in to your table. It's located in a plaza but set apart, so parking was never an issue. Plenty of spots, including handicap parking up front with just a short walk to the entrance. They have a solid variety on the menu including alligator bites, burgers, pasta, salads, and more. It is on the higher end price wise. Most entrees start around $14 and up, and even the kids meals begin at $8.90. The cocktail menu is extensive and the dessert menu is worth a look too. They also have a lunch menu where prices vary a bit more favorably. I ordered the Coastal Cheddar cheeseburger burger with no tomatoes and it was excellent. Very fresh, well seasoned, and served with shoestring fries that were equally on point. They also bring out a ciabatta loaf with butter to start, which was a really nice touch. Food came out quickly (always a plus). The staff is genuinely incredible. There's a tag team mentality where anyone on the floor can help you, refill your drink, or check on your table. My server was very attentive, and even when they got busy someone always stepped in. No reservations needed, at least when I went which was on a Sunday around 1pm. Highly recommend!

My favorite was the Lobster Bisque. It was creamy and deliciously balanced. The clam chowder tasted like "old soup" as per my daughter's review. It was OK, but did taste like it was canned and therefore we didn't eat more than a few spoonfuls of it. (The crab and lobster soups were gone.) We both thoroughly enjoyed the gator bites. They were well prepared and very tender. My daughter enjoyed stated that she was surprised it reminded her more of chicken than what she had expected. The dipping sauce added a nice touch and was not too peppery or spicy. It was well balanced. The seafood gnocchi was filling and flavorful. My daughter enjoyed it and had enough leftover for another meal the next day. I thoroughly enjoyed my lobster roll and ate the whole thing. There was an abundance of fries, which I did not eat. They were good, but did have a bit more of a greasiness than I prefer. The drinks were typical Coke products, which wait staff were attentive to keeping filled. The ambiance is a great place for a casual quality meal with family, friends, work colleagues, or a date. The salt water tank in the "lobby" is always nice to look at. The place is always clean and well maintained. The booths are spacious and you can talk comfortably without being crowded by other patrons. I love this place because the food is always good and the atmosphere is calming with the dim lighting.
