And distressingly, he didn't respond. At first I thought, "that can't be Paul," but a closer look revealed it was. Turned out maybe Paul was angry at us for being Michiganders. The challenger burger was massive, and it was tasty. It hit the spot like uncle Jerry does. The bottom bun was a little soggy from all the grease from the 1 pound burger, but it was still fantastic. I gobbled slobbered bobbled it up like my buddy Mia K does. Paul and his family seemed mad at us, so we looked away. With a parking lot easily able to hold over 100 big rigs, this friendly stop along US-19 at WV-129 has everything, including employees with a great attitude. The fuel island out front has gas and diesel for passenger sized vehicles, and the fuel island off to the side handles big rigs and RVs. They have a large grocery-convenience store, a sit-down restaurant, driver's lounge, arcade room, showers and restrooms. There is also a large repair facility at the back end of the humoungus parking lot out back. I was impressed when I saw a generator set behind the building complex. There were a couple of fuel tanks near what appeared to be an old Detroit V-12 engine, complete with twin straight stack pipes pointing to the sky. While that engine would make some noise when fired up, it would be a welcome sound when the surrounding area is out of power. I stopped mainly for breakfast. My order was taken promptly and soon, my meal arrived. My waitress was attentive and took great care of me. The only detractor was that the dining room could use a little spucing up (remodeling). Several of the booths had upholstery worn well beyond repair. Otherwise, you can tell that the last time renovations we're done must have been decades ago. Still, these things don't bother me much I don't get through these parts all that often. My last visit was in May of 2009, so my memory of that visit is as foggy as the New River Gorge on a cool summer morning. If you are in the area, stop in. They will be happy to serve you.
