I had an extremely traumatic experience with Alvita a few years ago and now that I've just received…read morea letter about patient information being compromised in a hacking, I'm compelled to warn others about trusting loved ones in the care of this organization. When my mom was returning home after a debilitating stroke, we decided to bite the bullet and go with Alvita - which was more expensive than others but long calls with their rep assured me my mom would be in amazing hands and I'd be able to rest easy and enjoy "being a daughter again." The *best* of the three aides they sent was notably cold upon meeting her, and one whom my mom told me would literally snap and curse loudly when lifting her in the hoyer and doing her duties, making her feel like a burden and making her feel on eggshells in her own home. After that, it became a full nightmare. On the morning of a doctor appointment, where the aide was asked to have mom ready to go for her wheelchair transport, the aide literally left in the middle of changing mom - without any reason, warning or notice. I thought she was taking out garbage but she genuinely just ghosted. As a result, mom missed an important appointment with her oncologist while laying there undressed and helpless. That wasn't even the worst. The final aide, who didn't last long due to her cat phobia (side note, when reaching out to Alvita, their solution: maybe just get rid of the cats), we learned had been putting dirty, soiled/food-filled pots and pans away in mom's cupboards. As a result, the aide who took over discovered maggots everywhere and we had to replace a ton of mom's cookware. (I would share a photo if it wasn't so gross.) The recklessness and negligence of this company and its hiring decisions is unreal. Thankfully my mom had me to advocate and look out for her through all of this, but it's terrifying to think about folks without a support system who are on their own in the hands of people like these and sharing their homes with them. I highly recommend directing your loved ones anywhere else. Or making sure you check in frequently on the welfare of anyone you already happen to have in Alvita's system.

' It was the best decision I ever made'.    I must say we were very apprehensive about the idea of sending my sister to a nursing home, but.Ozanam Hall was a wonderful choice. The staff at all levels were caring.  We are especially grateful to nurse Jean,  who was so helpful and positive,  to the Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy staff, especially Mary Jane who handled my sister's PT and to the manager of the Rehab department, who was very helpful. and to  so many others.   The Carmelite nuns were especially welcoming  and thoughtful   For those who are Catholic, there is a  daily Mass and communion is offered, if you cannot go to Mass. The environment was very positive. There is also a lovely outdoor garden to relax in as well as  2 resident cats,  a rabbit and 2 birds.   My sister  felt at home (very comfortable and cared for)  and was able to gain the strength she  needed to return to her home.  Our thanks to all at Ozanam Hall

My family didn't place dad there blindly, it was by choice, after weighing all the options. We have a family member who is a long term resident there currently as well as a long time family friend who is there too. They love the care they receive and the staffers they receive it from. Their recommendations were well received. From the moment I entered the front door and was greeted by the front desk attendant Lana, I knew dad was in a great, loving, caring and Holy place. I went up to dad's floor, was greeted by every staff member I passed. Not just on my first visit, but every visit. No matter how busy they were, every single person said hello. As time went on, those greetings were by name. It truly felt like dad was being cared for by loving family. My visits only lasted a week or so as I live about 700 miles away, but my experience and my opinions of my dad's treatment are fact based. He could not have received better care anywhere else. The facility was spotless, well maintained and the staff all love why they do. It takes a special kind of person to do this work. Ozanam is blessed with the best. Ozanam is even updating the rooms one floor at a time. It's nice to see the investment back into the facilities. The office staff was extremely helpful, kind and very communicative. They assisted in every way possible, making the daunting logistics of dealing with the insurance companies a less daunting part of the experience. I could not ask for better! I'd like to name everyone I met there who cared for me dad and assisted my family throughout, but I would have to name every person in the public eye as well as everyone behind the scenes there. By God's plan, my dad, Donald B. declined due to advancing medical conditions. He received great personal care and was treated with dignity up to and beyond when he took his final breath. He passed on Sept 22, peacefully in his sleep. The staffers who knew him were as sad as we are. Thank you to everyone at Ozanam Hall of Queens for all you do for every person in your care every day. Patients were on a schedule for changing, feeding, medicine and sunctioned. No wound care, delay responses from MD leading my mom with a week of infection and yellowish/red discharge from the surgical site. Transport to hopsital, which stated my mom's wound was not taken care of and developed a brain infection. We recently came back to pavilion but to their 3rd floor (mom if off vent and tach only). I've been here during late night and all saturday, and barely any room checks or sunctioned and again lacking wound care. Asked about their frequency of sunction, they said "as needed", frequency of room check, they said during med dispense and a few hours later. Unless your family member can speak, its difficult to get the basic services met.

I have been a resident for a few months now and I highly recommend it. The location is extraordinary. It is on a quiet street, but two blocks from the hustle and bustle of downtown Flushing with its many stores and transportation options. Manhattan is an easy commute, just a 5-minute walk to the LIRR station and a 15-minute ride to Penn Station or Grand Central. I work part-time in Manhattan, and I've never had an easier commute! Queens College, with its plays and excellent musical offerings, is a quick ride on a nearby bus. Flushing Town Hall with its stellar jazz program is four blocks away. The beautiful Flushing Library is an easy walk, as is Macy's and one of the best pizzerias in Queens. Here at Flushing House itself, there are many interesting offerings - book club, language clubs, exercise programs, both domestic and foreign movies, and a lovely rooftop atrium that is open 24 hours a day. There are many food options at each meal and, once you realize all the choices you have ( on and off the menu) you can always find something you like. One can pick up meals and take them back to one's apartment, but the communal dining room has been a way for me to meet other residents and make the acquaintance of some lovely people. The staff is kind, hardworking and understanding with residents (even when a resident might be cranky!). My apartment is very sunny, clean, and comfortable, and weekly housekeeping is included. If you are an active older adult wondering what the next step in life should be, come to one of the frequent open houses that Flushing House hosts and see for yourself. You may find, as I did, that it is a lovely place in a great location with a price that is very reasonable considering all that is included.

So I found this place through Yelp and found the best physical therapist in Queens . Dr He helped me a lot by teaching me exercises to alleviate my back pain , and other issues, I feel so much better only after 3 visits , she is the best !!!!
