Long Beach Transit service is not only just buses on the ground but also the watertaxi available. My friends and I enjoyed our first watertaxi experience in this July. Long Beach was running its seasonal Water Taxi service during this May 23 to September 1, 2025, a fun, breezy way to get around the harbor for just $1 or $5 a ride! Two routes to choose from: 1. Aquabus (blue route on the map) * Ride time: ~20 minutes * Fare: $1 one way Stops: * Dock 4 by the Aquarium * Shoreline Village (Dock 9) * Queen Mary 2. Aqualink (yellow route on the map) * Ride time: ~40 minutes * Fare: $5 one way Stops: * Dock 4 by the Aquarium * Queen Mary * Alamitos Bay Landing (Berth 3) Tickets: You can buy them ahead through the Long Beach Transit APP, or just pay cash onboard (they can give change). Schedule & tips: Each fare is one way which means you can hop off, explore the area for a while, and then catch another boat back (just pay again for the return). Be sure to check the timetable carefully, especially the last trip of the day. Weekends (Fri-Sun) have more departures than weekdays (Mon-Thu), but either way, it's first come, first served and no reserved seats. If the boat is full, you'll just have to wait for the next one. Parking: Where you park depends on where you board. After heading back, we strolled through Harbor Village and ended the afternoon with a leisurely lunch at Parker's Lighthouse. Okay so I love the bus. I use it to get everywhere and I'm a pretty frequent rider. The drivers are usually always nice but this review is about a specific driver. The driver for the bus 172 Palo Verde to downtown at 5pm on January 30th tried to tell me the bus was 1.45. Which is a pretty stupid lie considering all the buses are 1.25. I'm not sure what the point of asking for 20 cents more like I genuinely don't know why he did that but it was stupid and pointless. Do better driver hopefully next time it's the usual driver for 172 since he knows the cost of fair. read more

For just $1 per ride(cash, card, or TAP app) you can take a short ride to one of their 3 stops- lighthouse/Aquarium area, queen Mary, shoreline village! I can only give my opinion. I've never had an issue with any transit driver. In fact, I've had great conversations with most of them. Ironically, I would see a driver who's off work and would remember me from her route. When you're dealing with people and copious personalities of passengers, it can be taxing on anyone. passport service. I hate to rag on free transit, but this service is awful. First ride the driver stopped the bus to take his 15 minu break while we cooled our heels. Second ride took an hour and 15 minutes to show up (for an every 30 minute service), then the driver took his break while we waited. Third ride, waited at Shoreline where they have a display showing minutes till the next ride. 20 minutes. 7 minutes. 3 minutes. 30 minutes. What!? They just skipped our stop! Horrible service. If only I could give 0 stars! After adding 2$ to my virtual TAP card hours ago, it still did not show the updated stored value on my phone. I hopped on the bus, went straight to the driver to explain the situation and ask him if he could show me how I could get the app to update. He went berserk. I did not catch much of what he was trying to say (he had a very thick accent) but I think he misunderstood my question and thought I wanted him to show me how to physically tap my card on the reader (not sure how that would require an explanation). I then proceeded to ask him to calm down as there was no need to shout and clarified that was not what I was asking, big mistake! He started yelling even louder, saying that I had to get off immediately, all while other passengers were either staring or giggling at the absurdity of the situation. I ended up getting off the bus to avoid keep getting yelled at and booked a Lyft. I never would've expected a third world country kind of public transit anywhere in the US. Apparently I was wrong (had to wait 30 minutes for the bus to arrive). I learned my lesson though, LBT is a no go. Never again (I previously tried LA metro, where I was the only one paying the fare. A dumpster fire as well, filled with homeless who sleep, urinate and defecate on the trains, I personally witnessed mentally unstable individuals physically attack or yell at random passengers and security was nowhere to be found. Today on market headed to del AMO n long beach Blvd. The nicest young lady drove the bus and helped me get home when my mobility scooter was running low very low ...I was scared I'm 60 and disabled. Well she got me on market street took me home and I learned a new way to travel from home to my errands. It was about 11 or close to it I wish I had got her name! But I hope her superiors bother to track who she is and just thank her I sure did!!! This is the first I have used the Long Beach Transit. We needed to get from The Aquarium to the Queen Mary. It was little confusing where to catch the bus. Once we found the bus stop everything was smooth. The bus was free, on time and took us right where we needed to be. Both buses we rode on were clean. Long Beach transit is not ADA compliant. I am disabled and not able to get a seat and many times drivers will not even kneel the bus for me causing many injuries and more pain. On the 90's series the bus drivers prioritize the able bodied teenagers over the disabled riders. Drivers refuse to enforce the disabled & elderly seats in the front of the bus for those of us that need them and instead they are used for people taking cans to recycle, teenagers that are not disabled and people taking their pets in strollers. I filed a complaint with LB Transit about lack of accessibility to be told that they cannot ask people to give the seats up if they're not disabled due to being sued. Are you kidding me?? read more

first of all, the life program hasn't yet contact me back or been at the Long Beach transit for the whole year of 2023 of April they always give false advertisement on dates they never show up to. I also paid for a month bus from June 7th-July 7th. but I then paid early for my next month bus in August in June 5th.. I thought I had more days to use until July 7th until my new month payment for august kicked in July 8th. but I lost days I paid for as they don't tell you that your month pass won't count the days you already paid for it will take it away if I use it. but if I use it and I have a few days left over I dont understand why it won't count what I already paid for read more

Long Beach Transit is a step up from the "It's better than nothing" category, that's it. 1- No hate for the drivers. They take crap from management and they take crap from the public. Can be difficult to maintain a happy demeanor. 2- Most of this review is aimed at the website: ridelbt.com They gave the website a facelift not too long ago. My verdict? It was designed by someone whom does NOT use public transportation. What a clunker... The old site wasn't perfect but it was a lot easier to navigate through on your phone. If you need information for a planned trip within Long Beach, I highly recommend you do it on a regular computer with a decent sized monitor. 3- Alerts: Pathetic implementation of alerts for riders. As an example. Bus 51 route Long Beach Blvd. If you are going southbound on Long Beach Blvd because you have an appointment at the Memorial Medical Center, you'll have to get off the 51 at Long Beach Blvd and 31st St. Then you will walk about 5 1/2 blocks down to get to the main hospital building. Why? Because 3 bus stops including the one that drops you off at Willow Blue Line Station have been taken out of circulation due to some unknown kind of street work. If you use a walker as an example, well then tuff, start walking! Walk FASTER! LOL... There is no alert for this situation to be found on LBT website. Pathetic. I thought all of this was taken care of a few years back when the tax payer agreed to a bigger pinch... Hmmm. 4- LBT is pushing hard on the Moovit app. I'm not impressed with this app. For example, Moovit also fails to include the cancelled bus stops! I was on bus 192 #2209 on September 1st 2023 and the bus driver at around 2:20pm was charging way too much.I was a senior and 1 usually pay 60 cents but this bus driver charged me 1.25 I know it's not much but that is not the right amount and he was doing that to everyone.Not just that but many students got on the bus and paid 75 cents and he called them out all mad and made them pay $1.25 and some had to get off the bus because they didn't couldn't afford it. read more

LB Transit stands head and shoulders of its negligible competition. The busses run regularly, though perhaps infrequently. A number of downtown, tourist-oriented lines are free (Pine Ave Link, the Passport). We have TWO ferries! (Take that, everyone else!) Low fares (only 90 cents). Comfortable rides. Still not an adequate replacement for a car, but good if you're walking and you suddenly get tired or lazy. Easy trasnfers at the downtown Transit Mall to many other transit lines. I only wish that the airport were better served by more than one line. The 111 takes an hour to cover a 15 minute drive.... Why no transit-mall/airport shuttle? Also, its logo reminds me of BART, which I so dearly miss. read more
