Called long Police department and approximately 8:45am Sunday October 5 and the operator sounded like a 19 year old girl working remotely that was still in her bed. She didn't understand the simple concept of someone spray painting rims and grinding in a public parking lot in front of a child baseball field active game. She sounded hesitant to even report the issue because she lacked the comprehension to understand what unauthorized areas with automotive work meant with hazardous chemicals around dozens of children. Heartwell park should be Lakewood police jurisdiction since clearly Long Beach cannot handle it. It's been almost an hour of our children breathing in chemicals and they haven't arrived. Since moving to Long Beach, I have never had to deal with the police as much as I do now -- and unfortunately, my experiences have left me feeling unsafe and unheard. I have a restraining order from Las Vegas, and after multiple violation reports (close to 12), I had to advocate for myself just to get a detective assigned. If I hadn't called to follow up, I never would have even had one. I've only spoken to the detective once, and while I understand restraining order violations can take time, the lack of communication and support has been discouraging. On another occasion, I was physically assaulted in broad daylight on Broadway and Hermosa while with my daughter. There were witnesses, video footage, and the man was arrested -- yet I've seen him twice since then. That experience left me shaken, and the fact that I've run into him again has only made me feel less safe. There is also a man downtown who frequently harasses people, including me. I witnessed him chasing people with scissors and threatening others. Despite being arrested, I've seen him several times since. When I called the police about him threatening me, the officer who responded (Officer Leraas) was dismissive, condescending, and made me feel like I was wasting his time. He even said, "I don't know why you call either," which made me feel even more unsafe. He also insinuated that I may have done something to deserve being assaulted, which was completely inappropriate and offensive -- no one deserves to be attacked, especially in front of their child. Even when I escalated my concerns to a sergeant, I was told that "both sides could have handled it better." But I am not the one in uniform, trained to deal with stressful situations -- the officers are. I expect professionalism, empathy, and at the very least, to feel that my concerns are being taken seriously. Instead, I feel like the LBPD does not prioritize public safety or the well-being of victims. It seems like crime is getting worse, and the way officers respond reflects poorly on the department. I understand they cannot always arrest someone on the spot, but they can absolutely make victims feel heard, respected, and protected. Sadly, that has not been my experience. read more

February 15, 2019 I called this morning because, a Ford Explorer was parked on side of my house when son left to work. Son, saw a person inside wrapped in blankets. Ever since I bought my house people think they can camp out or have sex on the side of my house. I have gone out many times with my badge and strapped down. I tell them to leave and take a picture of plates and car. I did not know if the person in the Explorer was ok or not, maybe drunk? I see and hear the fire department with sirens Blasting to check on who is in the car. People should go to Walmart if they want to sleep, everyone else parks there. My German Shpared hates people in her area and barks like crazy to alert us...aka...Smith and Wesson. Not sure what's up, I am in my house wirh Bella so she can stop barking. We have heard many times of a car being parked with bodies inside. I wanted to make sure this was not the case since, they had the lights on so it was better to be safe than sorry. My police and fire department were fast and professional and handled the situation well. I have had to get police assistance a few times and only once were they rude. The last couple of times we were helped by very professional and courtesy officers. read more

It's a mixed blessing (no pun intended) to live down the street from a church and sometimes, when the call of Jesus is strong, some believers feel they have a god-given right to park where they want, no matter it may inconvenience others or even be a safety concern. And so it was today when a Baptist practitioner felt empowered to park and block my driveway even though he had about 12' extra space to park his beast. A call to LBPD had a black and white there within 10 minutes talking to the owner who miraculously showed up out of the blue, like a bolt from heaven above, only to be told that he was being inconsiderate of others and cited. If I could give a zero I WOULD!!!!!! So today at work, I get a block of time to bullshit for an hour and a half. So I head to Jamba Juice in Belmont shores and on my way back onto Ocean blvd in Long beach , there was this scardy cat driver that kept breaking in front of me, so finally I scream out loud to myself in my car " Fuck this shit, im getting over and im not dealing with this shit." All of a sudden a cop is behind me, flashing the lights, so im not thinking its me he wants, until he gets on the mike " Pull Over!." WTF im thinking obviously this isn't speeding ticket number 4 there was back to back traffic. I pull over and the officer comes up to my window and states, " I pulled you over for being on your cellphone" I laughed and said " Sir, I wasn't on my cell phone," He tells me to show my call log, my log shows both in and outcoming calls on one screen, the last call was 11:22pm last night, I said see sir, he tells me I must have erased my last call. Are you kidding me!!!!! I said look I've received 3 tickets and handled them like a woman, because I was in the wrong , but I never was on the phone. He tells me my lips were moving , WTF serious WTF, like someone can't have road rage and huff and puff and talk about the driving idiots around them, or even sing in their car. I said that's your reason, didn't see a phone in hand, but saw my gums flapping. WOW!!! He goes back into his car and proceeds to give me the ticket anyway, even though phone was not in sight. He said just go to court and get a print out of your phone bill , at least you can't tamper with that , now how the hell did I know what I was being stopped for ,to just be able to grab my phone and erase the log, I don't even know how to erase each call from my log. I don't have a whole lot of contact with the police. I see the patrols in my neighborhood and the officers always comport themselves in a professional way. Tonight they earned an extra star. It's Friday, July 3 and I'm hearing almost nonstop explosions and booms. Anyway, I called the north division asking if they could do anything. I can't tell exactly where the lunatics are that are risking burns and blindness, so I know there's not much they can do... They'll tell you themselves, there are good cops and bad cops. OK, I can accept that. I've called for their services on both professional and personal levels. On a personal level, I find them crunchy and delicious...sort of like fish sticks. . A bit on the perfunctory side, put a quarter in them and watch them go. Professionally, I've not had any problem with them. They've always shown up, did their job and was professional and polite about it. But sometimes life will infuse an asshole into a situation. Daisy has to get her playtime, exercise and training in the evening when it is cooler outside. So there we were, playing and running and laughing when three uniformed cops came walking around the back. Daisy stiffened so I called her to me. I saw two more in the alley beyond the next yard over. I wondered if something happened with one of my neighbors. I called out, "Good evening officer, What's going on? Can I help you with something?" One of them shined the flashlight in my face. I got nervous because Daisy was off leash and let out that low growl. I touched her neck to chill her out. The officer replied with a nasty, "Ma'am, mind your own business." Fine. When it was safe, I lead Daisy inside, cutting short our cool fun. Once inside I looked out the front window and there many cop cars on our block. No sooner than I began to brush and massage Daisy, she jumped up and ran barking and growling through the house, as she heard someone at the door down downstairs. I walked over to the window thinking it was a neighbor. No. It was that asshole officer. I just looked at him. He was watching my door and Daisy and didn't see me watching him from my window. I whistled for Daisy and heard her coming back up the stairs. When she was by my side, still growling low, I asked him..."What do you want?" He said that they were inquiring with residents as to any information about a shooting that took place earlier on the street. I reached down and praised Daisy and before closing the window I replied, "Sorry, officer, we're minding our own business tonight." read more

HELICOPTER!!! I need an explanation for the LBPD helicopter that is in flight 24-7 circling the shore constantly and buzzing the beach. In an average week, we prabaly listen to it circling the neighborhood for 3-4 hours, and that's just when we're home. I would like to believe they are chasing burglars and car thieves hiding in backyards. Unfortunately this is not the case. I've witnessed the cause of the chopper's presence several times, once involving a drunk that required 3 cruisers and the chopper for 45 minutes and another time for a car pulled over. I grew up 8 miles north of Detroit for 10 years and not once did a helicopter circle my neighborhood. Lastly, why do I see the LBPD chopper cruising the F-ing beach so often, even in Sunset Beach? Most of the time it looks like a pilot taking people on joyrides. I just pray they keep up the preventive maintenance on it and have reliable pilots, because if it ever falls out of the sky, you can bet it will take out a house or two, I just hope it's not mine. I understand it is an indispensable tool for keeping the community safe, but at the same time it should be used responsibly and as needed. My own opinion is that it is more of a hazard and nuisance to the residents of Long Beach than any help to us. read more

Responding to armed robberies, domestic violence, and noise disturbances...I thank the LBPD for their service to the community. The traffic cops, however, are just assholes. In 7 years of living here, I didn't have a single run-in with a traffic cop that didn't leave me fuming. The last one was when I was pulled over for speeding. Fine, I probably was speeding so I deserve the ticket. But instead of writing me a regular speeding ticket, this guy says he's going to write me a MUNICIPAL violation for failing to obey the posted speed limit. It's not the same as a moving violation and so you don't need to go to traffic school and it won't ever become a point on your driving record. Just pay the fine and it goes away. Sounds like he's doing me a favor, right? When he said "I don't know what the fine is," I should have listened to that voice that said, if you don't know what it's worth to you to avoid traffic school, don't take any "favors" from this guy. Turns out this gestures that SEEMS like it's helping you out is actually raising money for a broke city. The municipal fine for not obeying the posted speed limit is $475.00. It's been suggested that asswipe knew what the fine was, and was simply tasked with raising money for the city. Here's an idea, City Councilmembers: get back whatever these overpaid pigs earn by sending officers like #5478 to the breadlines. I just bought a house in Orange County and am happy knowing that not a single cent of my property taxes will go to the LBPD. read more

I'm very upset with the service that I got from Long Beach Police Department, I reported my neighbor having a live band playing all night and Officer Reyes called me to let me know that they can't do anything. So as I citizen that pay my taxes and know her rights, i would like to know where can I submit nuisance complaints since the Police Department is not very efficient. How are Long Beach residents supposed to sleep with low-flying helicopters incessantly buzzing about? The low rating is really for whoever is responsible for cutting the budget and replacing actual policemen with helicopters. Is it really even cheaper to fuel helicopters on their long and frequent flights?! How could policymakers overlook the obvious disturbance this was bound to create? I wouldn't be surprised to see an increased rate of car crashes, on the job accidents, and even increased incidences of high blood pressure (and health problems secondary to this) as a result of this very loud, very bad policy. My neighborhood is pretty sketch. The police officers that I have dealt with have been cordial and professional. We need officers on the ground, not in the sky. I waited 3 hours (my parking receipt can validate that time) to report a woman hitting my car. I had her license, vin, and personal info but she had refused to give insurance info. I went to the police station to file a report. The police office said it wasn't a hit and run, which is fine, but I was given advice by a police officer that would have made me liable. He didn't let me file a report and told me to text the woman nasty things like "you are the worst kind of person in the world" and "you're scum" and "don't contact me again". That could have made me liable had I actually followed his advice. I understand that it's not a hit and run, but I don't understand not helping and then giving advice that puts the victim in danger of liability. read more

I'm writing this review in hopes that somebody from the police department will actually read it. I know currently the whole nation is focusing on the systemic injustices by the police departments but among all this I want to congratulate and thank the brave men and women of Long Beach who are keeping us all safe. I just moved to Long Beach from Pasadena 3 months ago and soon realized this must be a much tougher city to be a police officer in. There's some sort of crime going on down the street from my apartment at least once a week and from day 1 I had police knocking on my door to ask about a shooting. These people have very stressful jobs out here but every officer I've spoken to has been very polite and very respectful. I sometimes call them for noise or fireworks complaints and even though they have much more violent crimes to deal with they still make time to address my personal concerns with a smile on their face! I just want the Long Beach heroes in blue to know that I sleep better at night thanks to them and I deeply appreciate the very challenging work that they're doing. You have a new fan here! read more

The Long beach police department is a joke... it takes them two to three hours to even respond to ANYTHING, if they even bother to show up at all. When they do, they inevitably down play the issue and blow you off. Yesterday, some complete &^%$#@! Moved my motorcycle so he could park in the spot I had occupied (I can't park my truck or my wife's car in our driveway because it is too short and blocks the sidewalk by a whole four inches, then we get a $50 ticket). So we both have to park on the street, or get a ticket every day... So we had to run out for a quick errand, gone no more than 45 minutes, and I parked my bike in line with the curb to take up the corner spot she was in. When we came back there was my motorcycle, shoved against another car sticking like a T from the curb and a shiny new BMW sitting there. I honked the horn, yelled for the individual to come out and waited... Nothing, so I picked up my cell phone and called the police. They told me there was nothing they could do, as no crime had been committed because there was no damage to my bike... It did not matter someone had taken my property and moved it to suit their needs; nothing was damaged so no crime had been committed. I spoke with the officers and the watch commander on the phone and they blew me off... Completely blew me off. Long story short, If you don't physically damage anything, you can apparently move whatever you want wherever you want... I have the license plate and VIN number of the car and I am going to buy a couple of large rolling hydraulic jacks and when I find that guys car again, I will move it wherever I !@#$%^& feel like it and I will be sure not to damage the car... There is no crime right? Thanks for nothing Long Beach Police department. Yet another fine example of my taxes going to waste... No money to educate our kids, but these $%&^%^#$ PIGS get a nice salary, benefits and pension for doing nothing... FU! read more

Crime is LB is much higher than reported. Exhibit 1 - My son has car broken into in DTLB and tries to file a police report; they wont take it because he is not the registered owner. So I try to file a report after LAPD finds my stolen documents on an ID theft ring. Amazingly, after asking me everything that happened the LBPD watch officer wont take my report either; he says we both have to come in together for them to write a report. LAPD tells me they should have taken the report on either occasion. I'm thinking they screwed the pooch on this one and I don't want to give them the opportunity to take it out on me so "forget about it" as they say. My experience with The Long Beach Police Department was this Easter weekend when I came from Santa Monica to one AIrbnb place in Long Beach and my car was stolen in front of the house.. I called 911 Monday 9am , the lady in the phone was very nice and look for an interpreter for me, the Officers B. Prebanda and J. Juarez arrived in less than 15 min. They were very nice taking the stolen vehicle report. The stolen car experience is terrible , specially when you don't have full cover like me. I had 2 terrible days figurating what to do and how to work without my car ...but thanks to LBPD I am very happy now and telling a happy history that no anyone can tell... They got my stolen car back! On Tuesday night I received one cal from LBPD and could piciked my car up today and now I can continue my normal life after this bad experience with happy ending! . Ran in a police officer today trying to get into my building while the power was out in downtown long beach. The only way I could get home is by going through the cones and all he could do is yell at me for driving on the tracks while I was asking him for help. I'm losing more and more hope for our police department if this is how we are going to be treated in hard times. I haven't given much thought to it until i had some unnecessary run ins with the police here in long beach . I always thought the police is different in it's approach here , since i moved from LA were i would give a 0 star rating easily . Most people that leave a good review probably have that good citizen look , so the police won't even bother , and you will never experience any of this , getting your time wasted and made look like a criminal by bystanders . Yet some people like myself fit the stereotypical bill of a bad person by looks . I have never commit any crime and on countless times have helped strangers more then the police . Helping an old lady over the street , breaking up a physical fight in a supermarket , saying something when someone gets harassed when everybody looks the other way just to name a few. Anyways speaking from my experiences the long beach police is not much better. Today i was stopped for driving 30/32 down broadway ave , other cars were passing me by on the side driving faster then me. I drove by a cop car and there was a split second of eye contact that triggered the 2 young officers to speed behind me from 0 to 100 . They tailgated , and almost drove into the rear of my car . Shortly the lights came on and I was pulled over. The 2 officers approached my car in an aggressive posture. I was asked in a very rude and intimidating tone is this my car ? any weapons ? They checked my record and one of the officer even asked he's partner , like yeah ??? are you sure ??? Check it again , like i supposed to have a criminal record . The same partner kept on implying to his friend , hey give him 2 tickets , but hes partner then just asked me for id and insurance which i provided to not further escalate 2 hot heads . In the end i was given a warning and i was asked to leave . People across the street looked at me like i'm some kind of criminal which really bothers me . Basically i was just robbed of my time and being intimidated by those bullies , so they could have a beer after their shift and feel good about themself ...... Another time i was a victim of an accident . On my way to work , i was driving passing a perfectly green light , with no orange light flashing and not even a countdown , this one guy comes racing passing a solid red light hitting me on the side . I'm very lucky i could even walk after this . My car was a wreck and up in smoke from the crash impact and the airbags that exploded . A police officer that arrived on the scene simply told me he's not appreciating me smoking and i'm like wow . You are a cop and you can not tell weed from airbag smoke ??? The other driver admitted in his wrong doing , smiled about it and told me sorry dude . But i was treated like I was at fault . I did win that case but it was a complete waste of time again and I was made feel bad for something yet again that wasn't my fault . You give a clown authority and a clown you shall get . It's a joke on how most of them carry themeselfs . No intergrity , no honesty or respect . You can't run around your car twice and be out of breath . Funny thing , I have competed in boxing and mma and I have been around material arts since I was a kid , evertime I run into a police man at any gym , boxing or jiu jitsu they are the nicest people shaking my hand , bowing telling me I'm a nice cop but then out there , most are such hypocrites . Recently I went to eat at a poke place . 2 Cops walked in to get something also , one of the police officers was raising his voice trying to order almost in an intimidating manner . It is one thing to have a loud voice , but trying to intimidate and saying here I am , a wanna be cowboy . I was shaking my head saying to myself can't you just act normal , or like a regular person that you are . Other times i have seen cops racing down ocean without siren , i have seen cops texting while driving and looking down , i have seen cops run stop signs without even stopping for a second . In my opinion a cop should be an example . There is wrong and there is right , but when given such power to a regular person that maybe has never been good at anything , the feeling of power and authority will polute their own ego and all of a sudden you're a cowboy or superman judging over someone's future or sometimes even life . The Long beach police like almost all police are unprofessional . I have never been charged with any crime , yet i'm getting my time wasted with idiocy . I wish they would hire people with integrity common sense and people that believe in good . Not authority hungry unqualified people that just do this job for that reason and the benefits only ! I have lived and worked in long beach now for four years. I have called the cops at least 20+ times. For issues at my work place.The one time that police actually showed up the cop verbally abused a homeless women and and cursed at her. I asked the cop to fill charges because the women had been urinating in our elevator and causing damage. The cop said ok , then went back to verbally abusing the women then jumps in his car and leaves. I love cops my uncle is one. But the long beach pd is worthless. If you want help help call the Dlba.
