This place has been through many name changes. The version of the name currently on yelp is 2 name/mgmt changes ago. It used to be one of the best quick food options on campus but I'm sorry to say that the current version is not good. Very limited options, comparatively bland flavors. These days I only go here if I'm tired of eating everything else on campus, but I'm always disappointed. Oh. My. God. This is the best Mexican place in the whole Vancouver area, I'd honestly say. I have spent over two years in Los Angeles and over seven on the West Coast U.S and this food SLAPS!! It is comparable to Chipotle but BETTER! I would drive to SFU for this. I am thinking about doing it after my class right now. It's insane how good this food is. They also use long grain rice and have an added tortilla that has some naan elements to it. The tortilla is warm and delicious and amazing. read more

This is one of my favourite places to eat on campus. It is definitely better than the other Mexican places at SFU Burnaby. Although it is a bit pricey, I treat myself to one of their delectable chicken / pulled pork bowls all the time. I would advise getting a bowl with a tortilla on the side over a burrito as the burrito can sometimes be too full with liquids and be messy to eat when nearing the end of the burrito. Overall, the fresh flavour and tasty meats make this place one of the greats at SFU Burnaby. I would recommend based on quality alone. read more

Guadalupe reminds me a lot of Red Burrito and Chipotle in their offerings (woot Tex-Mex)! Tried the Free Runner and found that although it tasted great, was a bit skimpy on the Chicken itself. That said, it was still very filling with all of the rice/beans and veggies inside and the folks running it were very friendly. Found their NSF burrito (not sufficient funds) to be a clever alternative for those short on cash ($6.00 for a rice, beans, and cheese burrito). read more

The El Jefe steak burrito/bowl is absolutely DELICIOUS. I'm not normally a Mexican food enthusiast but I think I ate here like 15 times in the last month. It's by far the best food court option in MBC. The food quality and flavour are superb; the tortilla in particular reminds me of naan more than a typically tortilla and I'm absolutely addicted. The burrito is messy af and not conducive to office eating but they'll gladly put the meal in a bowl with a tortilla on the side. The staff seem to be mostly young students, which is great! Some are chatty and friendly but I've experienced a few sullen mumbly ones as well. read more

Food tastes pretty good. Quality is way better than most things on campus. I have a very low income, and used to appreciate the 'Not sufficient funds' burrito option however; as another person on here has noted the size of the burritos are hugely variable. So much so that I nearly gave them a 2 star review. When they first opened I was going pretty frequently, but then i found that I would avoid the shop depending on who was working that particular day. On my last three recent visits I've had one burrito which was a good size, and the next two were approximately half the size. I doubt i'll go back simply because when the burrito is half the size it's nowhere near a good value especially considering its just rice and beans and a touch of salsa. There's also a lot of inconsistency with the burritos themselves in that sometimes it seems that they cook them well but a lot of the time they seem to be very undercooked, probably just has to do with how busy they get/who is in charge of burritos that particular day. read more

This place just gets WORSE and WORSE. Just when I think I can't be anymore disappointed.. Every time I go the portion sizes get smaller and their prices seem to go up. Way to gouge students!! At first, I thought oh maybe its just this employee who thinks a sprinkle of cheese and one scoop of guacamole is sufficient. But nope. I think it is just what they are told to do. A tree hugger bowl consists of veggies and guacamole and comes to $9.19 with tax. The veggies are a shit ton of onions and a couple green peppers which okay fine, maybe I'm paying for the guacamole.. but I'm not even getting much of that anymore either. Okay, I would rarely describe a food court burrito as "superb", but, uh, that's what it was. Probably the best food I've had atop the mountain so far. Generous, flavourful pork, nice garlicky rice, all very fresh. Service was super quick - they've got a cashless system and enough people working there in assembly-line fashion that you fly through. My only gripe is that getting a bit of guacamole on it would've cost $3.50... uh, I could buy a few whole avocados for that. But the rest was so good I can get by without the guac. read more

Update: For some asinine reason they are now only taking plastic. At a school with poor college kids! Most student checking accounts have limits on how many times you can swipe your card. I'm not into bank fees, so it's unlikely I will ever eat here again. Original: Very tasty--everything on the menu. Even the rice is savory. Yum yum yum yum yum ... Love this place. Everything is well thought out and beautifully prepared. Like having a specialty food truck on campus. I've tried a range of their stuff and it has all been amazing. Their salsas and guac are really really good. Same for the tortillas that you can watch them grill on a hot stone while waiting in line. This is the best place to eat at SFU, no question. Everything is fresh and delicious, and if you come at lunch time (peak hours) the tortillas are super-fresh. I wish other places on campus were on par with Guadalupe. Vegetarian and vegan-friendly. read more

Upsides: Delicious, fresh, super friendly staff Downsides: Hours are horribly inconsistent... Guadalupe has become a staple of my diet when I'm at SFU Burnaby (which is 5 days a week this semester!) My biggest problem is choosing between tacos or burritos, both are delicious and are made with tortillas that are cooked right in front of you. So, SO good. All the ingredients taste fresh and I think they use local when possible, but I'm not 100% on that. Compared to Quesada I think they aren't better or worse, just different styles -- which is a good thing I believe. However, their hours are terrible because they never open on time, and sometimes don't open at all. Even if they say they open at 11:00, most days they don't open until 11:30 or 11:45... This is unfortunate because if you take the time to go all the way there the back up options are bleak, so they just lose my business since I'm not willing to go back again on my break. Plus, like the other person mentioned, they get a line up quick, so when they're not ready that queue just builds and builds which is frustrating when you're on a break between classes or at work. If they can just sort out their staffing and timing issues, they'd be perfect. (And maybe add some seafood to the menu, but that'd be a bonus!!) read more

There's not many food options around campus so been too well acquainted with the cornerstone joints, I decided to be spontaneous and do something different that day. I love tex-mex and even more I love Chipotle. So it was interesting to note Guadalupe charged the same price as Chipotle so the benchmark for comparison was set. As others here have noted, they are pretty pricey in relation to their portions, I mean everything was served sparingly from the rice, to the pieces of steak(which were rubbery) I could actually count, to the pinch of cheese - I kid you not, a pinch of cheese. I will definitely not be going back there unless it's the only place open, but even then, I'd be willing to venture down the mountain in search of food. read more

My favorite place when Im on campus. Everything's handmade, fresh, local. Guadalupe has an epic menu that destroys anything else at the food court. Locally sourced, the chicken and veggies are epic! Everyone was so friendly too. Excellent customer service ... keep it up guys!!! :) read more

Frequent repeat customer for the last couple of years, and I'm done. The food is legitimately great (love the pulled pork especially) but most of the staff are so sullen and make you feel like you are ruining their day just by showing up. I don't know what is going on with the management, but the workers seem very unhappy and I'm tired of that being offloaded onto the customers. I remember the early days when the owners (a couple) were involved in the day-to-day service - it was incredibly friendly. Today I got the feeling that staff would've been happier if I'd just taken my business elsewhere. During a non-rush visit (2PM), it took a couple of minutes before anybody even showed up to take my order, with multiple staff coming out of the kitchen to do other tasks or to eye me without a greeting, smile, or even a 'just a second,' until finally the one person appointed to start orders came back to finally begin. Seems like nobody takes the initiative here. It really is too bad, because the food is so good. read more

The food is either a hit or a miss. Some days I've been there and had the best burrito of my existence, and other days I go there and they're out of almost every ingredient. Overpriced for what you pay for IMO. Would give 3.5 stars if given the option. read more
