Where do I even begin? Went to lonestar expecting to have a delicious experience (it was the opposite). First off, the water I was served was warm and had no ice. Secondly, the strange chips and foul salsa they give you as an appetizer are gnarly. Then, I ordered the Texas size quesadilla, which on the menu it says it's an XL tortilla with a choice of protein (I got black beans and corn). It literally took 45 minutes to come which was perplexing because there were literally like 2 other families there. The quesadilla though - oh boy here we go. It looked like a kids sized meal served on this tiny silver tray like it was prison or something. It was so bad. There was literally no corn or beans at all, and it was overflowing with huge chunks of onion. Absolutely nothing about my quesadilla was Texas sized or anywhere near tasty. After only going to Lone star once with my family years ago, I decided I was craving their fajitas for my birthday dinner this year! The food totally held up to the high standards of my memory! The meat portions always seem a little underwhelming, however if you pack your unlimited tortillas with the other refillable toppings in every fajita it stretches farther! Mojitos were strong and delicious as well! The patio was cute and well lit, however they did seat us directly beside the only other people out there. Went here about a month ago under the recommendation of my friend. Apparently, the location in Kingston, ON is very good. First,​ when we walked in we were waiting for about 5-7 minutes before anyone even bothered coming to​ the front of the ​house to greet us and take us to our seats. The person who came and served us didn't even bother saying hello- simply saying "4?" and taking us​ to our table. Where we sat was relatively clean- and maybe could've brought this place to a 2-star review. The sole thing that brings this establishment down to a 1-star restaurant for me is that we witnessed an employee who looked like he hated his job more than anything I've ever seen before, simply walking around to recently-vacant tables with a damp washcloth, and simply dragging all crumbs and food remnants off of the table and onto the floor. Really, guys? The service was alright, it's pretty hard to mess up taking an order and bringing us 2 pitchers of beer. What ruined my night again was the food. The "tortilla" chips were just depressing, super thin, bland, unseasoned, and strangely greasy... I had ordered chicken fajitas and what I received was probably re-heated chicken. Sure, they bring it out on a sizzling plate but I could easily keep my finger on that chicken without getting burnt. Clearly re-heated. On top of that, there are over 30 TV's in this place all playing the exact same game/channel/highlights. I get it's a sports bar but every inch of space doesn't need to have a TV mounted to it. Overall, this place needs to fix up. I won't be coming back, and recommend ​you to avoid it at almost all costs. Jack Astor's is a 10x better option close by. read more

Came here with family from Canada and had an awesome time with the staff, family and food. We started off with pitchers of some craft beers and their complimentary chips and salsa dip. For food we ordered the chicken quesadilla and the steak fajitas. They were ok nothing crazy but I fell in love with the outdoor rooftop bar and seating area and the staff. I haven't met such an awesome staff (waiters, bar, servers). I would recommend this place to anyone for a quick bite. read more

An Underrated Restaurant. I've driven by this huge establishment numerous times but never went in and I believe it was largely due to the parking. There are only a few street parking spots outside this establishment and then you have to parking behind in the over priced private lots by Imp Park. While entering this facility it must have been an off day because other than another table we were the only ones there and this was during peak time. The menu and drink menu had a lot of great choices. I had chicken that was tossed in a buffalo sauce and it was great. They had a lot of other choices of sauces and authentic southern menu. I had a cocktail with a full corona bottle tipped inside it that was a great feature on the menu. I was very satisfied with the food at this restaurant and the menu was great. Price was fair. I believe the parking is the downfall to their slim clientele. read more

After issues with our previous visit, the restaurant very much redeemed themselves last night. Staff were all attentive to their duties; food was delicious; dining room was clean and comfortable; and the atmosphere was perfect. Because of the issue on our previous visit, the manager even came to speak with us. This location is under new management since our last visit, and many of the staff have been replaced. Our server "Trigger 147" was fantastic! Very friendly, prompt, and (I hate to use this word but...) delightful. As was the hostess. Way to go Lone Star. I think this was our best Lone Star dinner in many years. read more

I actually really enjoyed Lone Star ( I was worried after some mixed reviews) When we walked in on Saturday it was slow and we were worried, halfway through our dinner the place was packed. I can tell they are focused on Customer Service as the staff was extra helpful and friendly. This location was also very clean with an warm inviting atmosphere. We were told the Wood they cook with is also from Texas! I enjoyed the Chicken Fajitas, they were as good as advertised. The soft shells are made in house and are delicious with the great chicken and sweet sauce! I look forward to returning in the future. I also feel the downtown location offers a better atmosphere in London opposed to smaller towns where this chain is located off a highway near shopping malls. read more

I've only been to this restaurant once and I wasn't all that impressed by the food. Portions were significantly smaller than they could have been and the quality wasn't worth what we paid. The atmosphere was fun and the drink menu was quite extensive (but lots of Tequila, yikes). If you want a good burrito/taco/fajitas go to Under the Volcano or Mexi Cactus. read more

It was Easter Sunday, and I needed a place to organize a quick and casual lunch while in town. Everything good that is not a corporate chain was closed or booked up. Upon arrival, servers in cowboy hats and using fake names with trailer trash influences, while country music played in the background... I immediately knew I made a mistake coming here, but life is all about learning from failure right? Well, then throw in generic and boring corporate beer selection, food that was not great either (I had a pork carnita sandwich served on a pretzel bun which the pork was okay but the pretzel bun missed the mark in being a complimentary flavour, everything tasted disjointed from eachother). Saving grace: servers were nice, and I was at least able to buy myself and 2 others lunch with drinks for under $90 including tip which isn't too terrible. read more

No such thing as portion control with the salsa & chips. Very addicting. I had the chicken fajita enchiladas which derived most of its flavour from the sauce and cheese on top. Tasty combo, though. I was part of a large group of coworkers so my service experience wasn't quite the norm. We were given a fixed price menu with 4 main course options and our food was delivered in an orderly fashion. The servers were very friendly throughout the meal and made sure we all had enough chips and drink refills. Our waitress was friendly so that prevented a 1 star. A group of us went for lunch on Friday. The place was virtually empty despite being noon which now makes sense. We ordered drinks that took a long time to come. Then we ordered our meals which took nearly 45 minutes to arrive. Considering the place was empty and this was our lunch hour that was brutal. When the food came a lot was missing such as sour cream from certain orders. That then took another long while to be obtained. The food is insanely overpriced. Most of it is just Taco Bell on a bed of undercooked, poorly seasoned rice. I am never going back: service is extremely slow, food quality is garbage, and its extremely expensive for what it is. read more

I normally don't write reviews but my visit to this location last night has prompted me to do so. I have had many positive experiences here but last night really had upset me. My boyfriend and I arrived To a very busy patio. Greeted by a Friendly hostess we were invited to sit at the bar and wait. We did so and had about a five minute wait (no big deal considering it was busy considering the weather) It soon went down hill from there. Our server "sangria" was the worst server I have encountered at this location. She was snarky and full of attitude. Not not made us feel unwelcome but barely paid any attention to our table along with those in our section. After drinks were ordered we ordered apps and our dinner. Long story short our food was late getting to our table. When asked if she could politely check to see if our food was ready (at this point we had been waiting about 45 minutes) she laughed and walked away! At this point I was baffled by her attitude. She returned a little while later To our table with the wrong order. Laughed and took the food away. Didn't apologize or explain any wait reasonings. My boyfriend pulled the manager aside at this point and he was more than helpful. He went to bring us our correct order Although he was extremely helpful, our food was sitting in the kitchen for half an hour because this snarky server failed To be attentive. My boyfriends burger was burnt and fries were cold. My bbq pork sandwich was cold and my salad was left Soggy due to sitting as long as it had been. I understand working in the serving industry can be busy at peak times of the year however that is no excuse to treat a loyal customer poorly. Although the manager was professional and helpful this experience unfortunately made me second guess taking my business to Lone Star in the future. read more

For a chain restaurant they have very good ribs. Have wanted to try this place since they open and was pleasantly surprised to find out they had all you can eat ribs! They were delicious very meaty. My only complaint was they were barely warm. Excellent selection of sauces. Super friendly server! Only downside is the parking! .But they did validate our parking! I went here at the weekend during a relaxing visit to London. I like themed restaurants, and love Tex-Mex, so was really excited to try this place out. A really friendly hostess greeted us and advised us to try the fajitas, as they are what Lone Star is ''famous for''. We were then shown to our table, and I noticed the large open space nature of the restaurant and the general cowboy theme of the staff, both of which I thought really added to the fun vibe of the establishment. We met our server, who introduced himself and explained the restaurant's policy of assigning wacky nicknames to all its employees. Like the hostess, our server enthusiastically gushed over how amazing the fajitas were. I accepted his advice, loving fajitas anyway, and ordered the veggie fajitas. My boyfriend went with the beef burrito. I have to say I was really disappointed in the fajitas - not just in comparison to the way they were hyped up, but just...in general! They weren't in the slightest bit spicy. There was zero salsa or spices in the fried vegetables, nor were they offered on the side. I requested some salsa from our server, who obliged, and that helped add flavour to my meal and bring out the traditional fajita taste a little bit more. Still definitely nothing special, however. My boyfriend was delighted with his beef burrito and had no complaints. The portions were extremely generous, so I can rank this place highly in terms of value for money. Free refills on the soft drinks were an added bonus, and, although we were too stuffed to try any dessert, the dessert menu (like the menu overall), had great choice and looked really appealing. Service was hit and miss, we were waiting an extremely long time for our food as the kitchen forgot about our order - something our server openly admitted. The staff were a bit overbearing; our server must have come over to the table to check up on us and start chatting four or five times throughout our stay, that's in addition to his greeting us, taking drink orders, taking food orders, bringing the food and bringing the bill. I'm not complaining about that, but feel obliged to mention it in the review as such a style of chatty service would definitely not be everyone's cup of tea! I would probably give Lone Star another go, but be sure to order something other than their fajitas next time. There is definitely nothing special or 'famous' about them, in fact they were decidedly tasteless compared to any other fajita I've ever tasted! My homemade ones are much more tasty! read more

Been here multiple times and I do enjoy the food. At times the wait can be long but I've always gone with a group and we don't generally notice. Service at times at the bar can be an issue. But the taste of the food does off set it. If you are looking to have a couple drinks at the bar and watch a game and maybe want a small snack it's a good place to sit with a group or even just as a couple. I'll return for sure. read more

Ate here while visiting from "out west." This is a standard-fare chain restaurant with fast, great service- the food was OK. We went at a time when it wasn't too busy, so that may have helped. My wife had the fajitas and I had the burrito. My young kids loved the cowboy costumes and the server's "Crazy Horse" name. Portion sizes are HUGE- just as they are in west Texas..... My wife's Margarita had a lot of sugar in it but it tasted great on the upper-level deck. We probably won't return, but it was a good experience for standard-fare tex-mex. read more

Went for dinner last night. A Friday night and expected to have to wait. BF and I were seated right away and that is where the good experience ended. We ordered our drinks along with a glass of water which we never received. Our server was very sweet and friendly not sure if she was new to this job but was a little flaky. We ordered the onion ring appetizer, I ordered a wrap for dinner and he ordered the fish tacos. We received our dinner before our appetizer, when I mentioned it to the girl that dropped them off she seemed angry and said she would go take care of it. We never saw her again. The appetizer came out as we were starting our dinner, we then reminded her about our water which she then brought. The onion rings were the best part of dinner. Very tasty and the chipotle ketchup was amazing.....loved it. The chicken in my wrap was burnt, the side of rice was tasteless and disappointing. The fish tacos were huge to look at with a pitiful amount of fries on the plate, looked like someone had already eaten half of them and they didn't even cover the plate! ( he ordered fries because the restaurant was out of baked potatoes at 8 pm on a Friday night) He really enjoyed the fries and said they were so flavourful he didn't need to put anything on them, would have been nice if he had a full serving. The tacos however were a different story. They were full of the coleslaw and filling with a tiny think piece of fish and it was basically like eating a veggie tortilla halfway through as the fish was gone. I finished eating before he did and the waitress came and cleared my dishes and the appetizer dishes which he was still eating from and then brought the bill as my BF was still eating his dinner!!! I have never felt more like an animal at a trough in a restaurant. It was not overly busy and there was no need to turn the table over that quickly. I have waitressed for years in my past so am usually pretty understanding but I can't come up with a good reasoning for what happened last night. There was no need for it. Been here a few months ago before the students came back and it was awesome - obviously they had more staff. However came here Friday night around 800 pm, took an hour for our food to come out. Both had the exact same thing - burger and fries. One of our Fries came out fresh and perfectly cooked, the others were overcooked and old. Ask server for ketchup, brings us an empty one, when she comes back asks for a new ketchup as that was totally empty - she then brings us another empty ketchup lol, so third times the charm?? "This ones less empty" is what she said and laughed. I get it your busy. But maybe the restaurant should have someone refilling condiments before a weekend rush. Also the restaurant needs to hire more staff! Absolutely insane the poor girls were running around like crazy. And last but not least I had a $10 coupon because I signed up for eblasts, server was nice about it but had to get it approved by her manager, I kid you not she was crying when she brought the debit machine, I'm pretty certain her boss yelled at her for accepting a coupon offered on the Lone Star website. If her manager didn't get mad at her I am assuming she was just breaking from the stress of being totally understaffed. read more

After a few mediocre visits to this location (nothing to really comment on), myself and my family went out to Lone Star for a late dinner Wednesday night. We were promptly seated, and the server (Moonlight 243) was quick with our drinks. Ordered Queso to start, and placed entre order when she brought it (menu seems to get smaller regularly). Wanted more chips for the Queso, but our server was scarcely seen. First time she was across the room, second she was at the table beside us. Both times we tried to get her attention... NOPE. Next time we seen her was when she brought our entres to the table. Said that she would get us the chips now. NO, our food is here and the Queso is stone cold now. She offered to "heat it up". NO, our food is here. Entres were at least good (reason for 3 stars not 1). When paying the bill, we commented that she was still charging us for the Queso (less than 1/2 was eaten). She said "yeah, sorry." When there are only 4 occupied tables and 3 servers, there is no excuse for such poor service. Although the tip would have been small anyway, since the Queso charge was not removed Moonlight can consider that her tip. read more

Worst experience. Was greeted at the door by a few ladies and was seated immediately. Waitress made her way over pretty fast and was pretty helpful on recommending on what was popular. However once the order was put in, we must have waited almost half an hour for our food. This is after we had told the waitress that we were in a rush and did not have much time. After 30 mins of waiting for our food, I was disgusted with what we got. I ordered the chicken chimichanga. First off it was not fried it was oven baked and then put under a heat lamp, secondly chicken tasted like rubber must have been at least 3 days old, the rice were very hard must have been made the night before and reheated, and lastly the beans were so dry that it almost felt like they were not cooked at all. All in all I would not recommend this place to anyone, and will never go back here again, worst mistake I made was steeping into this restaurant. If the owner is reading this, reconsider who is running your kitchen. Serving crappy old food to your customers wont last as long as you think. read more

I went to lone star after loving my visit in Toronto years back. I expected the same in London. Service was good. Chips were on the table with a wee bit of salsa. We had to keep asking for more. Two of us ordered fajitas for two for $35. I knew we were in trouble when they brought a small shallow black tray filled with some lettuce, a little cheese, a dollop of sour cream and a teaspoon of salsa. YIKES! This tray was unlimited but really? I have to keep asking for more food? I could have used 4 of them. You got 2 sides. We ordered rice and guacamole. It was a really small bowl of rice for 2 people!! Like a baby bowl. Tortillas were good. There wasn't enough chicken for two. My husband could have eaten everything that we got for two and he is not a big man. With a glass of wine our bill was $55. Our friends bill was $80 for two. He remarked that he had just taken out his family of 8 for $200 at another grill and not only did they receive a ton of food but they all had leftovers for lunch the next day. So I really, really wanted to love Lone Star but there wasn't enough food. Far from it. How will this get fixed? It was a Saturday night and we left around 8 and it was half empty. Says something. Continue this way and you won't be around or feed the people and they will come. read more
