At their request, I sent a sample piece to be copied. It was from another lamp I was trying to get matched. I also sent a lamp base to be bright copper plated, and 10 pieces to be replated in bright brass. Unfortunately, they stripped and replated the sample I sent and replated it. It is now a different color than the rest of my sample lamp. They also charged me for replating my sample, a sample that was not supposed to be replated, but only be used to match the rest of my lamps. The lamp base I sent to be copper plated was supposed to be polished, then a clear lacquer applied. It came with scratches not polished out and no lacquer. The bright brass pieces looked good until a closer look. The brass finish is full of fine scratches which should have been polished out before the lacquer was applied. Another point. If you have anything to be finished that has any minor pitting or scratches, do the prep work yourself. Sand the pitting or scratches out. Otherwise, you will have freshly plated parts with the pitting or scratches left in them. They do nothing more than clean the pieces and plate them. They do not do any prep work. I brought all of this to their attention. They were apologetic and said they identified where a breakdown in their process occurred. I was told I could return the items, and they would be finished properly. I asked in emails several times about my "sample" that was replated when it shouldn't have been, and I was charged for. They never addressed that. They also never addressed me paying for the return shipping costs, even after I mentioned the cost of return shipping. I mentioned I was fearful of another shipping of these rare parts. They told me when I pay for the shipping, also make sure to purchase the shipping insurance. It was clear they did a substandard job and wanted me to pay for shipping again so they could attempt the job again. I elected to not chance having the items shipped again and another mishap like plating my sample and being charged for the plating. It was exactly what we were looking for design wise and a really good deal, but within a year, the particle board legs broke off one at a time and the top had bubbled up from water drops. Knowing that the table wasn't worth saving, but knowing I wanted something just like it, I resumed my search for a better quality table. During a random visit to a friends' house, I had the fortune of seeing one a Pioneer Wood and Steel piece and immediately asked friend where she purchased. She told me about Leer and Greg and gave me PW&S number. I am familiar with custom made works and the handcrafting that goes into creating a beautiful piece of furniture. Leer came to the house to look at the table, take measurements and give us a quote. At the time, he gave us his idea to replicate the table in real wood - and boy were we in for a surprise when we found out how much real wood cost! We literally tabled the idea, it took a while to wrap my head around paying that much for a piece of furniture. In the end, I knew it was the most favored piece of my husbands. So for our 10th anni, I secretly contacted Leer and told hubby the legs gave out and were being repaired. Little did he know that we were replicating the table in real walnut wood.
